The food was pretty good and they had decent portions. One thing that was lacking for me was the barbecue sauce- which helps greatly to contribute to the taste of my barbecue. Their sauce was very watered down both in the bottle as well as when you asked the counter. The people were nice but didn't go out of their way about anything. I liked the fact that they had a typing bar where you can get your extra toppings though... that is not common with many restaurants of this type. They even had sour cream on it- although it wasn't covered. One thing I was very disappointed about is the fact that the menu states kids 12 and under eat free on Sundays but they did not uphold that nor did they offer any discounts- even when ordering the kids meal with the child in view. I feel as if businesses should honor what they say they offer and I was definitely disappointed by that. Overall it was a pretty average experience that I will not break my neck to go back to- as I've been to some better barbecue spots in the city.

This was my first time here I work right down the street and always wanted to try this place so I decided to stop in and take it to go order on a Wednesday evening. It was not busy at all. I decided to do the sampler plate which is three meats and two sides. I declined the sides I didn’t want any sides. I just wanted to try the meats yet I was still charged the same price which was around $21. My order consisted of spareribs, sausage, and brisket BRISKET - dry with no flavor SAUSAGE- very basic didn’t have any type of barbecue flavor whatsoever. It’s like they just took sausage and threw it in the microwave or something I don’t know I’ve had better sausage store-bought along with barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce was not good at all. I’ve had better store-bought SPARE RIBS- had a good spice rub on it however the meat was a bit tough and chewy. Overall I was greatly disappointed in my meal. Try out way better BBQ spots in Houston!

There's nothing bad about this place, the service is fast, the food is good, the prices are reasonable ! But it lacks that special oomph factor. Overall definitely worth trying if you want to grab a quick bite !

Ribs were delicious sides not so good. Will go back and try it again. We saw the sign on the highway as we are not from Houston. Because it said Gabby's BBQ and that's my daughter's name we tried it. Atmosphere was very nice. It's worth trying.

Google
Good BBQ does not require BBQ sauce. Bad BBQ can be masked by good sauce….sometimes. Even the BBQ sauce couldn’t save this. The potato salad was bland, the fries tasted like oil, and the brisket/sausage/spare rib plate was a disaster. All of it lacked flavor. Even the sweet tea tasted bitter. The place was clean though, so I guess that’s a positive. (I was starving and considered leaving the food there and going someplace else, but at $25+, I would rather eat tasteless food than spend another $25 for good food.)

Google
I recently visited Gaby’s BBQ and ordered the baked potato with brisket. I asked for the brisket extra lean, which was great since it wasn’t too fatty. The potato was satisfying, and the food came out fast with no wait. I also tried the macaroni, but it was just okay— a bit dry for my taste. Overall, the BBQ was good and hit the spot, but I have to say, Pappas BBQ is still my go-to for that extra flavor. If you’re in a hurry and want some solid BBQ, Baby's is a decent option.

Google
For me, this is my favorite Barbeque place in Houston for overall experience. The food is good, the sandwiches big, the ambiance traditional and relaxing, the service fast and the pace of enjoyment wonderfully slow. Also, they don't treat their customers like the customers are lucky to be there (like other barbeque places). I'm not looking for the latest and greatest, I'm looking for the most consistent over time. I found it. No fuss, no muss. Thanks Gabby's.

Google
The whole experience was pretty good. I would probably stick to the ribs over the brisket in the future.. they need to work on their sauce

Yelp
The worse dry azz hard azz flavorless ribs I've ever had in my LIFE! Cole slaw nasty as hell. Fried okra was RE FN FRIED! Don't waste your mf money

Yelp
My coworkers and I decided to try this place out as it was recommended by someone we work with. I am usually very picky with BBQ and went with my standard order of a two meat plate. I'm assuming there was a mix up because I ordered red beans and Cajun rice, but was met with baked beans. Not my favorite but these were ok for the most part. Cole slaw was probably the 2nd worst thing on my plate. No flavor but cabbage....thats it. The two meats I chose were pulled pork and brisket. Pulled pork was very good and lots of flavor. The brisket on the other hand....I've had more moisture from a 1960's church shoe than that brisket. I had to eventually throw it away, because I literally could not eat it. Overall my experience wasn't the best and I probably won't be back. To each their own if you like this place, but not my cup of tea

Yelp
Smoked Turkey Sandwich was excellent. Fast Service. The decor was nice. Will return again.

Yelp
Amazing Texas bbq. The brisket and pulled pork are smoked well, juicy, and tender. The potato salad here is my favorite potato salad. The fries are perfectly flavored and crispy. The chicken tenders are huge. The restaurant is clean and the staff are nice. I also like that they offer fried okra and a self-serve toppings bar.

Yelp
Ride your Little pony over to this most fabulous barbecue in Houston. Waste no time on the flashy nonsense barbecues just come here. From the ribs to the chicken to the fabulous desserts, their menu will take care of all your barbecue needs, don't forget to have them cater your next wedding or party. The ribs taste, especially good when you're driving home and you hit airline at 610 and you take a bite.

Yelp
Chicken fried steak, gravy was not that good. Was not to my taste. Just kinda plain. Gravy was room temp not hot. The green beans and mashed potatoes were tasty. Service was great. I'd stick with the BBQ. It's good.

Yelp
It was a good atmosphere. Good for date night with your girlfriend and family meeting. The service was amazing order was quick. I enjoyed the sides more than meat.

Yelp
Gabby's BBQ restaurant has been here as long as I can remember. Never disappoints! I always come here when I am close to downtown Houston

Yelp
First and foremost this place is a barbecue joint. This is no frilly, new fangled, new age millennial haven. This is a simple place for ordering brisket, or pulled pork, with all of the wonderful sides you love in a barbecue restaurant. My wife and I have eaten here several times when we come to visit family in the neighborhood. It is comfortable and the food is just plain wonderful. The place is down home friendly and you will know that you are in TEXAS. I am not an Uber Eats guy, when I try a restaurant I like to go in and meet the folks working there and assess the whole operation. What I found at Gabby's was just what I hoped to find find. The ambiance was happy people eating great classics in a comfortable, casual place. The place is always filled with locals. There is ample parking and you will quickly discern that they do the cooking on site. The pie is pretty awesome too.

Yelp
So the wifey wanted bbq one evening so of course we go to our favorite joint Gabby's! I always get the loaded baked potato with chopped brisket. It costs about $14 but just like my loyal dog, it never disappoints you. Only thing I would recommend is get it to go do then they load your to go box with all the toppings, if you order it to eat in, you have to get your own chives, bbq sauce sour cream. I know first world problems but to me it's worth it to have it come complete. Only other thing I wonder about this place is if you have Pepsi on draft how come you don't have Mountain Dew? Come on man!

Yelp
1. Service: courteous, fast and attentive 2. Atmosphere: big space, all wood, bar always looks like an empty space: ccondiment bar always full and clean like the rest of the restaurant. 3. Food: Not consistent, sometimes salty sometimes perfect. The meat is tender but a bit dry. Chicken always delicious. Cobblers and deserts are good except the Texas staple, pecan pie. The pecan pie here is very small for the 5.00 price - pecans are too salty and very few, lots of gel in the middle. Ill be back.

Yelp
For the past couple of weeks, I've been religiously ordering the 4-meat plate from Gabby's off of UberEATS, and thus far, all of my meals have been to the same standard - very tasty and of decent portions. This review focuses solely on my UberEATS order since I've never visited in person. The 4-meat plate, just as its name suggests, comes with a choice of 4 meats (selected from chicken, spare ribs, baby back ribs, sausage, brisket, turkey, and pulled pork) and two sides (selected from green beans, potato salad, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, ranch style beans, red beans and Cajun rice, fried okra, macaroni and cheese, and creamed corn). I love getting the sausage, spare ribs, brisket doubling up on one of these meats, depending on my mood, and coleslaw and potato salad. The fact that I have continuously ordered from here means that I've enjoyed Gabby's meals thoroughly. I definitely recommend.

Anon S.

Yelp
Food was just ok but kind of cold. The sides were bland and lacked any real flavor. We had the rice and beans, mashed potatoes, fried okra and creamed corn. Nothing was inedible was just hoping for more. The meats were the redeeming quality but even then they were just ok but they were tender, except the brisket was a little dry. Just a little disappointed.

Yelp
Always go to Yelp first . So I ordered from here looking at the reviews fromUber eats and I deeply regret it . The food arrived in a flimsy plastic bag and I instantly knew it was going to only get worse . I ordered the two meat Texas plate with two sides . I got the ribs and chicken with potato salad and Mac and cheese . The ribs were basic and decent with the sauce but had really tough hard pieces . The sauce was actually the best thing on the whole plate . The mac and cheese tasted like processed cheese . I instantly spit it out and gave the rest to my dog ... he loved it . Don't trust everyone's potato salad is a thing for a reason . This potato salad was very underwhelming. Overall I wasted my money and want to help you not waste yours.

Yelp
First time here. Will be the last. Brisket dry. Baby back ribs pretty good. Expensive for size of the portions.

Yelp
Great bang for buck but food is nothing to write home about. I may try again in a few months.

Yelp
I have been going to Gabby's for years, and I really enjoy their BBQ. They also have the best BBQ salad of any BBQ restaurant I have ever eaten.
google avatar

Conner S.

Yelp
Ordered Gabby' BBQ for the first time via Favor delivery. Salad was good, massive amount of chicken. They actually provided enough dressing which is rare. The sandwich was fresh and had great flavor. Really loved the bbq sauce, the sweetness was perfect.
google avatar

Nancy K.

Yelp
Gabby's is consistently high quality bbq at a great value. Flavorful, good portions, and fresh. Dine in is a comfortable casual dining counter service experience, drive through always moves quickly, and in the past we have ordered their to go/catering packages and been blown away with the attention to details and quality of not just the food but the overall experience. I get drive through lunches and dinners here several times a month and other than carrying Pepsi products instead of Coca-Cola products for beverage, I absolutely love this place.

Yelp
Came for quit meal and i was really satified with my 4 meat combo. They were big servings with a good smokey taste.

Yelp
Just because something isn't necessarily nasty doesn't make it good.. mac n cheese bland, brisket Bland and ribs BLAND.. Gabby was a white lady for sure

Yelp
I ordered Gabby's from UberEats (prices are from the app, may not be the same as in person prices!) and got a sweet tea ($2.99), side of creamed corn ($2.90), and a two meat plate that comes with two sides ($17.60). I got brisket (it comes sliced) and chicken, with potato salad and Mac n cheese. It came with a side of BBQ sauce. For dessert, I got a banana pudding. ($4.15) The sweet tea was good! I put in the order notes to make it half and half and it was hand written on the ticket as such, so good to know that they read the order notes. Along that line, I requested that the sides be subbed if there was pork or bacon in them and there wasn't any issue with that either. The creamed corn was very good. As far as the brisket goes, the flavor is SO GOOD. The bark is delicious. However, it was pretty dry which may be because of the delivery or time of day I ordered it, so I would absolutely try it again. I dipped it in the BBQ sauce to help and it was great. The chicken was good too--but a standard chicken from a BBQ place nonetheless. I would get it again if I was there, but wouldn't necessarily prioritize it over any other BBQ place. The Mac and cheese was alright--very thick and cheesy, but nothing special. The potato salad was about the same. It needed salt and pepper, and was a little heavy on the mayo. Finally, the banana pudding was good, but it made my stomach hurt. I wouldn't order it again for the price.

Yelp
Review is solely on the customer service! It's horrible! I will not be returning! I have tried multiple times and it's the same!

Laura N.

Yelp
First time coming to Gabbys. We ordered brisket, spare ribs, sausage, chicken, and baby back ribs. The spare ribs and sausage were pretty good. The chicken was dry and had no real smoked flavor. The baby back ribs were dry and tasted old like they had been sitting and reheated. When we ordered, we asked for moist brisket. When we received our order, and with my understanding of moist brisket is definitely not theirs. The line server cut us more brisket but definitely isn't MOIST in any kind of way. Will not be back. I should have gone with my first mind when I saw the dry brisket photos. The flavor isn't too bad if you like dry brisket. I won't go into detail about the sides... not to my liking. I'm definitely a snob when it comes to potato salad and cole slaw. I do like they have an area for customers to get pickles, onions, and other condiments.

Miss P.

Yelp
My fiancé and I first time eating at Gabby's. We both ordered a chopped brisket sandwich with fries well my fiancé wanted potato salad but it wasn't available. Also, banana pudding and the home cobbler. Food I'll have to rate it a 4/10 the brisket is very dry needs sauce to really add moisture. The fries were okay. The dessert was NOT GOOD AT ALL. 0/10 We're big barbecue lovers so this isn't a place for us.

Yelp
Now THIS was a great barbecue sandwich! They added an extra container of delicious barbecue sauce without me asking for it too! I had such a bad experience with Demeris Barbeque on W Loop last week, even when I contacted them a week later as they requested in an email, the guy on the phone from Demeris didn't appear to know what he was doing and he came across as not wanting to be disturbed as he kept asking me when I was there! Thank you Gabby's BBQ for showing me excellent service and great barbecue!!! I'll be back at Gabby's BBQ!!
google avatar

Hi I.

Yelp
This place is trash. I paid $16 for my food to look like this. I got 4 pieces of cut in half turkey meat I would give 0 stars if I could. FOOD HAS NO SEASONING FLAVOR NOTHING. I had to add my own.
google avatar

Willy N.

Yelp
My favorite part about Gabby's BBQ is the drive through option! You can get your food quickly and safely in these difficult times. The service is always fast and efficient. My personal favorite is the chopped beef sandwich with fries! At only about $10, this combo is a steal! The chopped beef is really flavorful and juicy. The fries are always perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. I always leave feeling satisfied! The baked potatoes are really good too. They definitely don't skimp on the toppings. Don't hesitate, come to Gabby's! I guarantee that you will have a great meal at a reasonable price. I can't wait to be back!

John A.

Yelp
Made for a great July 4 lunch. Tried the brisket, spare ribs, baby back and pulled pork. It's not the same as most bbq places out there and that was refreshing. I will be coming back and hope this can be my new place for when I want bbq
google avatar

Cyndi G.

Yelp
This BBQ spot is a neighborhood and family favorite. I am not a BBQ expert but I really enjoy the meats and sides at Gabby's. It is very homey and the Manager Eric makes sure you feel at home in this restaurant. I ordered the 3 meats plate of Brisket, Jalapeno Sausage and Ribs. The meat was juicy and tasty. My sides were fried okra which was perfectly crisp! And the red beans and rice were delicious. There is also a bar where you can get all you want of pickles, onions, jalapeños and Pico de Gallo. I only wish the BBQ sauce had more of a spicy kick. Or there was a spicier option. I have bought the family pack dinners here which are always a big hit!

Yelp
It's been several years since I have eaten here. A couple of times if my memory is correct but before my Yelp participation. So I decided to go by for lunch today so that I could write a review. I remember my last visits were ok. Today, I ordered the chicken plate that comes with a 1/2 bird and two sides for $10.49. I chose their ranch style beans and potato salad for sides and added an iced tea. This is a counter service restaurant and my food was ready immediately. The chicken looked really good with coarse black pepper on the skin. It was juicy and plentiful in size. I believe that it was cooked on a gas fired smoker by the coloration of the skin. The ranch style beans were good in flavor and the mustard based potato salad was cool and moist. All in all, it was a good standard BBQ meal that I graded as a 3. Everything was acceptable as I believe their other BBQ meats are and prices are reasonable. This is a BBQ restaurant that 15 years ago would have been considered one of your better BBQ options here in Houston. What's changed is that BBQ in Houston is on an entirely different level than back then. Today we have so many options to taste 4 and 5 star level BBQ that places like Gabby's (and there are others) have been left behind because they have not improved their product and stayed the same. If you come here you will get a decent meal. But unfortunately for Gabby's and some of the other older BBQ establishments, you can do much better.

S J.

Yelp
We hadn't been to this restaurant in about a year and decided to drive through and get dinner. Sliced brisket was really bad. Dry with super salty bark. (We even asked for "moist"/fatty. ) We also got a brisket sandwich. It had a lot of meat but again, super chewy and dry. We were so disappointed as we used to have good bbq here. The service was friendly and quick via the drive thru but if the food isn't edible, what's the point?
google avatar

Justin G.

Yelp
The food there is great especially the brisket, the topping that they have is nice and the ranch is so good that it reminds me of the ranch at wingstop. I feel that Gabbys is great restaurant to eat for rodeo season! #countrylife #rodeo #houston
google avatar

Yelp
Driest, Blandest, brisket ever. Chicken was definitely seasoned with air. And rice was undercooked... favorite part was the pickles that came with it....

Yelp
I love Gabbys! I love their chopped beef baked potato. Today I ordered the three meat plate only to realize when I got home that I was given a brisket plate. I called and asked for a manager and Michael I responded to the call. I explained to him that I wanted three meat platter and he check the system and told me that the person that took my order charged me for a brisket platter. I had already got home and settled in. I was not going to drive back to the location to get my order corrected. As a manager Michael needs to improve his listening skills! He talked over me several times during the conversation but then accused me of not answering his questions. I have been a loyal customer to this establishment and have visited At least once a month. I will no longer patronize this business. Thanks For the great service

Yelp
Went through drive through yesterday. Chopped beef sandwich was dry & lacking BBQ sauce. It didn't taste fresh either. Tons of fries - really, way too many to eat. Sides were good. Took a drink of my sweet tea and guess what - if wasn't sweet and of course I didn't have any sweetener once I drove away. I ordered the banana pudding, but they didn't give me a spoon to eat it with. Had to try to eat it with a fork. I drove about 20 minutes to get this meal that turned out to be extremely disappointing, dry and then couldn't even take a drink of what I ordered after I ate. If I didn't know how good this place can be, I wouldn't go back. Incredibly inconsistent.

Micheal R.

Yelp
The food used to be very good. This is the second time that I have been disappointed in the food. The meat is fine, but I would like it on a fresh bun. The sandwich I got was served on a very stale bun that was actually hard on one side. I got it to go so I didn't know until I got home. I had to transfer it to a hamburger bun from my pantry so I could eat it. Unfortunately, I do not recommend Gabby's anymore.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
BBQ place with quick, friendly service for a large group at lunch. Brisket and ribs were dry and needed sauce. An oddity for me on TX trips! Enjoyed the sides, tons of topping options in a salad bar sort of arrangement. One of my friends got a banana pie or something and was raving about it. Would go back - to at least find out about the banana thing.
google avatar

Shelene L.

Yelp
Gabby's has some good food. My personal preference is their pork ribs but the brisket is a close second. The sides I prefer are fried okra and green beans. The drive-thru is super convenient. On this visit, I ordered the Meal N Peel special which includes a loaded chopped beef baked potato and a drink for $9.99. I was so delighted when I opened my to-go container and saw that the meat was separated from the potato. Yes! A good deal for a good meal.

Yelp
I pre- ordered my food via phone on Super Bowl night. I arrived to pick up my meal a older lady was at the register she looked at me and walked away another employee came over while shaking her head and assisted us. We order the 4 meat sampler meal pork, ribs, brisket, and sausage with loaded Mac and beans with Cajun rice. The Mac was tasteless no seasoning at all. I ordered peach cobbler for dessert that was taken from the fridge and served . The three stars are for the meat. The whole meal was served luke warm. I will only order meat the next time.

Yelp
Don't know what they've done differently these days (new chef ?) but the food is awesome . Perfect black bark on the brisket Sausage amazing My husbands dad commented on how awesome the beans were . Also the macaroni and cheese is top notch . Worth every penny . Wish they would expand or open another location because they are always busy
google avatar

Yelp
The manager Bryan is doing a great job there. He is always very friendly and accommodating. His well trained staff obviously learned from him Bc they are there to make sure you have a great experience. I got the Texas sampler plate with all the meats. The brisket is okay. The sausage and ribs are really good! The ribs are exceptionally good! I personally wasn't a fan of the pork. The mac n cheese was amazing. The food is a little pricing for BBQ but overall it's worth it. I want to go back and try he chicken fried steak. Get the ribs and sausage and you will be happy! Also the bbq sauce is really good as well Thanks gain Bryan.

Yelp
Not...bad. Good. But not...amazing. Definitely a three star bbq joint in Texas. Let me put it this way...if you're not a Texan and ur just passing through Texas and want some very decent bbq (ribs, chicken, brisket, sausage, sides) this is your place! Oddly enough...my favorite thing on the menu is the chicken. Imagine that! At a bbq joint and the chicken is what I like better than the ribs or brisket...strangely enough, the chicken here has an amazing flavor that is pretty consistent in quality. The ribs are good and filling, but on a quality vs cost analysis I would have to defer to the chicken. So for meats (and I've had them all) I put them in this order: 1) chicken 2) ribs 3) brisket 4) sausage Now on to the sides...the Mac n' cheese is good. I love fried okra tho...and it's really good here. The mashed potatoes and baked beans are also very good. The bill...I have found that for lunch you'll probably spend $15-$20 depending on how hungry you are (and if you get a beer with lunch) for dinner expect to pay around $25/pp and have a good local beer while ur at it!

Yelp
Chopped beef and pulled pork sandwiches are both good here and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Mediocre barbecue. Dry brisket, salty turkey, and cold sides. Service was subpar as well.

Yelp
Freshly back from living in Japan amid the Coronavirus pandemic I needed some BBQ fix. Scouring some delivery options I chose Gabby's. Food We ordered two four meat plates and sides. The sausage was cooked perfectly and the pulled pork was flavored nicely. The brisket was overcooked, but it had a strong smoke to it, which I enjoy. The The baby back ribs were terrible, dry and tough. Pricing Always a topic of debate, but overall if you remove the service and delivery fees it's in line with other BBQ joints. Delivery While delivery is highly variable based on the service provider and the driver, the one area the restaurant controls is ensuring it is ready when the driver arrives. I have seen instances with other establishments where my driver had to wait 5-10 minutes even after their arrival. Gabby's was ready and my food was on the way as quick as the driver arrived. Overall Personally I would likely not visit in person, but for someone who has been living in Japan for awhile and craving some true southern BBQ this place hit the spot, but it's not going to compete with some of the other establishments in Houston.

Actron ..

Yelp
Horrible service. Possibly the worst I've had in my life. Gave my order to another customer, not paying attention and talking the whole time. Maybe too many people in the kitchen? I do not know. And this is after they've done almost the same thing before, I gave them another chance.
