Visiting Gabriel’s is worth it just for the table side guacamole and chips, which are most excellent! Their homemade salsa is also delicious, and unlike many places, the chips are not fried in overused, nasty oil. We almost made a meal of those! We also enjoyed the fajitas, which had a generous pile of veggies, and the carne adovada. It was wonderful sitting on the patio and enjoying the fresh air and great food!

Google
We were able to score a reservation last minute while on vacation to Santa Fe based on recommendations from other friends who visited. We decided to splurge and got the fresh tableside guacamole (fantastic!), main courses, and dessert. It was all really good with really good flavors. I'd go back when we're in the area again.

Google
Pricey but good food and service. If you like guacamole, definitely order it here. They bring out two avocados along with all the ingredients and make it fresh right at your table. Overall great experience other than the cost. (Steak Fajita was $26.00)

Google
Love the outdoor seating area and the tableside guacamole. I've never been blown away by the rest of the food, my salad was almost inedible the last time we went, but there are good dishes (the fajitas and rellenos), and the atmosphere is hard to beat.

Google
The restaurant was very accommodating to a large group we had in town for a dear friends birthday. Definitely call ahead for such a party. The food was delicious. The portions were a little overwhelming, so bring your appetite. The servers went above and beyond. We'll definitely return. And recommend to others.

Fun place! Great fajitas, tres leches cake, and chips with guacamole 🥑. Frankie was a great server! Very nice artwork on the walls for sale.

Google
This has to be one of my favorite New Mexican restaurants. The food was so good, and the service. Table side guacamole is a bit expensive, but so worth it. I'd highly recommend this place.

Our daughter has been living in Europe the last 5 years & the first thing she wanted when she returned to New Mexico was authentic Mexican food. On our way to Taos, we stopped in Tesuque for lunch & got the real deal. It’s easy on & off the freeway, very convenient. The guacamole is expensive, but they make it fresh table side, it’s the perfect pairing with their chips and salsa. Our daughter got the combination plate and I got an in-house specialty vegetarian enchilada with yams. Their beans also are some of the best black beans I’ve ever had, full of flavor. We had the in-house lemonade and got a free refill and it was delicious. The atmosphere is great, the weather was perfect so we ate outside. The art inside is lovely too & available to purchase. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by our neighbor who is from NM. We have always seen the sign when we are in Sante fe as we often play or stay at the Hilton Buffalo Thunder or Cities of Gold Hotel and Casino but you can't see the restaurant from the highway only the sign. As we were hungry and couldn't make up our mind where to eat, actually we wanted a something but we didn't know what so this was close and they were open. Located off the frontage road hidden by trees it's like a little hidden secret. They offer both inside and outside dining and the outside is lit up by little string lights and it's pretty romantic but there are quite a bit of tables. So privacy isn't so much there but it's a nice vibe from what we could tell. We sat inside as that was was the first available. The inside had a southwestern feel, but honestly the restaurant closed in an hour and the staff was rushing around like they had to hurry everything. I felt rushed and on the edge of uncomfortable but maybe it was just me. Our waiter greeted us and than was scarce after that. On to the food. We had guacamole freshly made at our table which was a treat , and also chips and salsa. Both were delicious. For our main i had slow cooked ribs and my wife chose a combination plate. Both were delicious. At the end of our meal once again our waiter was no where to be found so we walked up to the front and asked the manager if he could help us with paying our bill. He didn't look very happy about that because he kinda looked around for our waiter and kinda shook his head. The reason I am giving it 5 stars is because of the food and ambience. And the personalized making of the guacamole at our table. I believe if we would have gotten there earlier our experience would have been much more enjoyable and relaxed. I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Apologies in advance if you like this place but it was not my cup of tea. We had great service but the buck stopped there. The best part of our meal with the queso appetizer and the salsa. The chips were cooked perfectly. Then we get to the food. The chicken fajitas had no flavor. It needed more to them. While juicy, no flavor did not help. The fish tacos were meh. Honestly, I was not a fan but the reviews are mostly good so I won't hold you from trying on your own.

Yelp
A fun place on the side of the highway. Gabriel's is huge with tons of seating and servers. Their house margarita was delicious. We also got the guacamole which is made at the table. It was good but I wish you could try it and ask for more ingredients if you wanted it. He made it then left our table without us trying it. Otherwise a great experience and look forward to going back.

Yelp
We finally tried Gabriel's after three years of hearing great things about the place. I'm glad I did. The restaurant has tons of outdoor seating . There is indoor seating as well, but I always prefer outdoor seating when it's available. There is covered seating and seating in a beautiful courtyard with a fountain. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food came out quickly and without any issues. All the food was cooked perfectly with great flavor. We ordered fish tacos, ribs, and chimichanga to share. I was very happy with all three items. The portions are good and we ended up packing some to go. After the meal, we sat on the bench in the garden to enjoy the views. The area would be great to enjoy a post meal drink. I will definitely return and recommend Gabriel's.

Yelp
they have a fantastic margarita selection (la unica!) and the food is solidly good. I would say this lands more Mexican than New Mexican. But the service is great and the patio is fantastic during the summer.

Yelp
Expensive while underwhelming & average at best 2nd time this year, we ate here; two other couples just had to go, so we came back. Again, the food is fine but a bit underwhelming and rather expensive. You can get much better food of this genre in town for less money. I had the Los Cabos Fajitas, and for $27, I expected a lot better. Sizzling? No, but the dried-out chicken and about 5 shrimp need more flavor, along with under-sizzling vegetables. The Fajitas at, say, Los Amigos for $12 is superior, and I could name half a dozen others who do this dish better and for far less money. My wife had the Chile Relleno's for $19.95; fine, nothing special, again, $16 at Los Amigos, better. Gauc for the table (our friends had to have it) was good, but $17 is not worth "the show" or the end results. Service was just OK, one guest had to keep asking for dinner ware to the point he just got up and found his own. At the last meal, we sat outside, which was lovely, but this month, the patio closed due to the cold, so we sat inside; it's not as nice there; loud and a bit cramped. Considering the long drive, adequate only food, and high prices, I don't think we will return. You can do better closer, for less money, at many other NM Restaurants in town.

Yelp
Our first time dining here and we will definitely be back! The service was okay; the waiter could have been more attentive. The chips were hot, crispy, and perfectly salted. The salsa was very good, just the right amount of spice. The carnitas and tortillas were delicious! They offer great vegetarian/vegan options.

Yelp
Busy NYE dinner. Hidden gem. Reservation honored on time on a busy night. Service was amazing. Food was excellent! Had a few 'Tex-Mex' meals during our trip and was sadly disappointed, Gabriel's renewed my love of this type of cuisine. Get the guacamole!

Yelp
The guac is the STAR OF THE SHOW. They make it tableside & accommodate substitutions & omissions to the recipe, as you wish. There is USUALLY a long line to get in, so plan accordingly... RESERVATIONS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Their margaritas are also cold & delicious, especially on the eve of a warm day. A GREAT way to CHILL OUT. And the HUGE patio is DOG FRIENDLY AND some of the tables have an AMAZING view of the surrounding hills! As for the food, I am less enthusiastic, though a friend who has spent a lot of time in Mexico says everything is very authentic & she loves it. I suppose I am tired of Mexican food that has rice & beans with everything... I like to be surprised with new flavor combinations. I had the chicken Mole enchiladas & they were good, but, especially for the long drive from downtown, I have other options in town I like better. Worth a try to decide for yourself & be sure to be there near sunset for pics from the patio with the hills ad background!

Yelp
I went to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque last week & checked out a few restaurants during our quick visit there. Gabriels was the first place we tried for lunch, it was in Santa Fe. I was so excited to try all the Mexican food out there since I've heard such great things about it! We ordered the guacamole made at your table & it was really cool having them come around & make it personalized for you. It was delicious! We also ordered the elote, which we didn't realize was just one single piece of corn on the cob. We were thinking it was going to come off the cob & in a bowl for everyone to share. It did taste delicious however it wasn't a real sharable appetizer for the table. I tried the Vegetarian Combinacione platter. It had a bean burrito, cheese enchilada, & an guacamole taco. I didn't love the guacamole taco since it only had guac & lettuce on it. I thought for sure it would come with cheese and tomatoes but it didn't. It was just pretty plain since it didn't have any added extras on it. The guac was delicious, don't get me wrong. I just wish it had a little more to it. The bean burrito was smaller but really good. I didn't realize the enchilada sauce had chiles in it, so I ordered it on the side, but I didn't realize THAT was my enchilada sauce. It was too spicy for me. so the cheese enchilada ended up just being like a cheese roll up. I really enjoyed the beans & rice on this dish though. My boyfriend ordered a beef burrito and he really liked it. I loved the side of corn it came with as well. Cute atmosphere, service was great, margaritas were delicious. Would recommend.

Yelp
Great New Mexican restaurant with both ample indoor seating and mind a large courtyard with plenty of umbrellas to get some shade. The food was absolutely amazing! I got the crab enchiladas with corn and black beans, everything was delicious. My girlfriend order beef tacos with black beans and rice. I traded one of my enchiladas for one of her tacos and it was just as great. You could tell the freshness and quality of the food when you eat it. Will definitely make this a spot to visit on future Santa Fe trips. There was also an area off of the courtyard with scenic views and several photo opportunities spots such as turquoise painted street lamps. Finally, talk about fast service. We had our meals served in ~10 minutes from ordering. Great job to the staff

Yelp
Service for lunch was abysmal (we came at an off hour so it wasn't at all busy) with the waiter forgetting to bring things we asked for (water refill, lemonade, hot sauce...). Tortilla chips were hot and crispy, though, and came with a good salsa with a nice bit of heat! I ordered a combination plate with a tamale and beef enchilada. Pork was dry in my tamale although the masa was good. At least it was very well filled--I only had a taste before packing it away for another day, since the plate was pretty large. My enchilada came with a plentiful portion of beef with plenty of cheese and green chile on top (although I'd asked for Christmas). Rice was a bit dry but still tasty and beans were good. Sopapilla was freshly fried but came very late in the meal and was rather bland and yeasty--one member of the group said it was not a good example of a sopapilla. Guacamole, I was told was just okay, and a measly portion for $17. Ribs were very tender and tasty, though, and came with maybe 8 or 9 babyback ribs. In general, the food was fine but overpriced and the service was lacking.

Yelp
Stopped by on my way down from Taos, my buddy said someone recommended the place to him and we should give it a shot. Parking was a little weird and I felt like I was headed to a theme park or something. You also enter through a few doors and a courtyard so I wasn't quite sure where we are going until we found a hostess. We were seated pretty quickly and given some pretty good chips and salsa. I could live off of chips and salsa and I would says theirs were a solid 7/10. We ordered some fajitas and soft tacos al carbon, food came out in a timely manner. The food was alright, it was your typical Mexican food with some sides. The flavors weren't unique or special. The only think I would say that stood out was their prices, for a second I thought I was back in California. It you want some expensive run of the mill Mexican cuisine this is the place for you.

Yelp
Their beautiful patio area is worth 3 stars alone! We've eaten there at least 5 days on different visits to Santa Fe, and the service is sometimes great, sometimes a little slow. I feel the same way about their entrees: sometimes great but sometimes underwhelming. The table side guacamole is always amazing, their margaritas are great, and it's worth a visit to Gabriel'a just to enjoy those on the patio!
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
Had lunch here and it was a wonderful dining experience. The patio has a beautiful ambiance and views of the vistas. We were a group of 6 and service was excellent and we all Ordered different things and everyone loved what they had. I had carnitas plate delicious, one had the cup of Posole and it was tastey and the carne Adovada with red and green chili was amazing.

Yelp
I am baffled as to why the overall ratings are only in the 3-star range. Food and service here are outstanding, one of the best places I've been in Santa Fe, all set in a delightful courtyard setting just north of town. In a perfect world, sure, I'd love to have views of the sunsets but hey, we come for the food, not the views. Guacomole and queso are the bomb - I shall return on my next visit just for these. Major shout out for the queso - deliciously spicy with chiles and tomatoes mixed in, so good you'll want to pick up the bowl and drink from it. Don't though - it would be a disservice to the tortilla chips. Guac is made right at the table which may not sound unique but the quality was purely excellent. I ordered the mole chicken for my main and despite devouring an unholy amount of chips, queso, and guac, I still managed to finish the whole dish. Loved the mix of flavors so eloquently paired together. Overall, this was one of my favorites in Santa Fe - I highly, highly recommend and certainly look forward to returning many times.

Yelp
Since the place sold, the menu has changed, the chile has changed, and not for the better. . Waitstaff milked about when should have been refilling water. Sorry, but we won't be back
google avatar

Melba M.

Yelp
Always great food. I asked for a taco and a cheese enchilada to go and got at least 6 meals for myself
google avatar

Alex Z.

Yelp
Most authentic Mexican food in Santa Fe. They are famous for their guacamole which made in front of you by your table. Didn't order that went for the queso that blew my mind, really good texture very thick that stick to the chips and a hint of spicy and green chili flavor not too spicy. The seafood fajita is very fresh and perfectly seasoned. Also make sure to try their lemonade, very refreshing. The service is fast and attentive. It has a beautiful courtyard even a lot of people said come here for sunset but I wouldn't. You can't see any sunset unless you walk across the street to the other side. They do take reservation but they can't guarantee patio seating so make your way there earlier.
google avatar

Cherrie B.

Yelp
This was recommended by our friend since we are in Santa Fe NM. We came here tonight for dinner and ordered steak fajita, combo fajitas, tortilla soup and cheese quesadilla and all of the food were excellent. The ambiance is so nice. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the foooddd. We will be coming back for sure. Easy 5 stars.

Yelp
Every time I'm in the area to visit family I make this place a destination. Wish I could just transport Gabriel's to where I live. The table side guacamole and a margarita is my go to for a starter. All the food selections are great. This time I tried the homemade pork tamales. They taste fresh and are a good size. 2 would be a good filling meal. Some day I need to save room for desert. The waitstaff is super! Reservations are not required but I highly recommend making them.

Yelp
Plato de Carnitas 19.95 A sizzling combination of pico de gallo & Jalisco shredded pork. Served with whole beans, guacamole & fresh corn tortillas. My mouth is still watering!! If it was in ABQ, I'd be there every week. It was the best Carnitas I've ever ever had!!
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was a little so. Green sauce had great flavor. The elote was cold

Yelp
Don't stop here! Meal was so bad that I could not believe I wasted my time and saliva. Everyone is running around so busy moving tables with no care or concern about how bad the food is coming out. It's the next table in and the next table out. Sat outside the main room. Flies and mosquitoes right inside the building. Well, not for me ever again. There are too many great places to eat within the vecintety of Santa Fe.

James G.

Yelp
First of all we came back here for our 24th Anniversary. We had our wedding party here 24 years ago so we thought it would be nice to take a drive from Albuquerque for the day and come back to our roots. WHAT A MISTAKE! We had reservations and were ready to see if the guacamole appetizer was the same from way back then. Needless to say 25 mins in. Everyone around us got food. People who came in after us received their food. We got a glass of water and chips and salsa. NO ONE helped us. The waiter that brought us chips and salsa ignored us 5 times walking by us. Never acknowledged us. The bus boy ignored us and only woman cleaning a table looked at us in a worry but obviously never told anyone. What a miserable experience this was for us. Obviously if I could give zero stars I would have. Well at least hopefully people will read this and avoid the customer service this place provides. What a waste of gas and time.
google avatar

Jerry P.

Yelp
Flies inundated us when sitting outside. We were at Gabriel's for our anniversary (yes, lame) but our food and bodies were immediately covered in flies as we sat outdoors. Finally, when the meal arrived, it was much much worse. After we abandoned our meal we finally just fanned away flies until the waiter brought our ticket. We paid 141.43 cents for the worst meal of our lives and we'd been here many times before. How can any restauranteur not have the common sense to invest in a few outdoor fly devices?! We live in Santa Fe and would never come back! Cheap owners and greed. Period.

Gim T.

Yelp
Tasty food. Great variety of food choices. Guacamole freshly made at the table. Fresh salsa. We tried the chimichangas and the seafood fajita. Love the tastes - not too sweet nor greasy. Great parking at site but lots a tad tight for trucks. And it can be one quite crowded at weekends.
google avatar

Lorraine W.

Yelp
Recently visited for a late lunch at 3pm on a Sunday. Not crowded, yet the service was slow and inattentive. After watching other customers get seated after us yet get their drinks before a waiter took our order, I had to ask the hostess to send a waiter to our table. Again, the restaurant was not busy. Not taking any chances, we ordered our food at the same time as our drinks. The food was served quickly and it was very good - I had the chicken mole enchiladas. However, due to the very poor service I will not be back.
google avatar

Alexa R.

Yelp
Service was great, the food was delicious! We loved the margaritas and tableside guacamole. Kids all found something they liked and the dog was happy on the patio! Had a great experience.
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
We had dinner here last night, everything was ok until our food came. Then the flys came, there where so many of them, it was so disgusting, we couldn't even enjoy our food. Don't eat here unless you don't mind sharing your dinner with about 50 flys. Gross, this place must be so dirty. After complaining the waitress just said sorry and charged us full price.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was lively. I had a strawberry margarita that was a bit bland, but I still enjoyed it. The food was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was extremely busy and we didn't have much interaction. All in all my experience was great.
google avatar

Julia K.

Yelp
The best posole I've had since LA. The food was great, our server was SO fast which shocked us because of how insanely busy it is. Word of advice: make a reservation on OpenTable. The feel inside was totally southwestern and New Mexico flair, perfect if that's the vibe you're looking for. 100% recommend the margs, posole, and charro beans!!!
google avatar

Monica V.

Yelp
Our meal started out nicely with chips, salsa, table side guacamole and queso. But after having finished our drinks and getting our chips refilled without receiving any of the entrees, we were wondering what was going on and why there was such a delay in 3 orders of fajitas and an order of skewered shrimp. An hour after our order was taken, we received 2 of the fajitas and the skewered shrimp. The 3rd order of fajitas was done incorrectly so I had to wait for mine while my dining companions got started. Unfortunately, all of the dishes were cold and not sizzling whatsoever. It's apparent they'd been sitting for quite some time so we asked for all of them to be redone. 10 minutes later I received my order of fajitas but the order was still incorrect with the scallops missing. Another 5 minutes later, the remaining dishes arrived. It was obvious that they were the same exact items since a bite had been taken out of all of them and came back exactly as they were sent back. What a disgrace to re-heat seafood fajitas and serve them extremely dry and inedible. The server did nothing when this was pointed out and tried to tell us these were new dishes. We had to bring this up to the manager to let them know we were lied to. We were offered to have the dishes redone yet again, but by that time our appetite was gone.

Yelp
Several trips to this restaurant during our last trip to Santa Fe. Food and service were great! Recommend.

Marg G.

Yelp
Ambiance-Patio is to die for. Service was slow to ok. Food was good but not great for the price. $20 for 2 chicken tacos with some rice and beans on side. Fish tacos were ok.
google avatar

Katherine L.

Yelp
Arrived for our 2:00 pm reservation. Was seated at 2:05 pm in an open space. Was served chips and salsa plus menus. Sat there for 25 minutes without any interaction with any; no eye contact, etc. They were busy but did not seem to have appropriate staffing nor were they able to stop by and let us know they were aware of us and would wait on us soon. Left and don't expect to return. A shame because we have been going here for years ( every time we are in the area).
google avatar

Laci L.

Yelp
Service was a bit slow (packed restaurant) but they were super friendly. Food was great!

Karol V.

Yelp
After my first visit to Chimayo with my ill rescue pup, headed to what I consider the finest restaurant of any genre in the Santa Fe area. A+ food, service, and my pup was welcome in the lovely outdoor courtyard. I had a water bowl - they provided the fresh ice water. "We're dog friendly!" And they are. And he's very well-behaved. A perfect day and a perfect dining experience. Just the best vibe in the area. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Guac was really good, pretty cool that it's made tableside. The enchiladas reminded me of food back home which made me so happy. The parking was easy & our waiter was prompt!

Yelp
Came across this place while looking for a good local restaurant. I wasn't hungry but I was in Santa Fe on business so I figured I should go out. This place is incredible. The food has an abundance of flavor! I had the Guacamole (some of the best I've ever had) & the Carne Asada Burrito. (Also one of the best I've ever had). Will definitely be visiting this spot again!
google avatar

Patricia N.

Yelp
Not pleasant experience. Waiter was arrogant and rude. Once he brought our food he never returned. Never. No drink refills. Didn't get our sopapilias. We ask for bill and box twice as he walked by. He didn't even acknowledge us. Food wasn't even warm. Best thing was chips, salsa and beans. They were not busy He had two tables. We finally got up, went to desk and paid. Do not eat here !
google avatar

Yelp
My boyfriend grew up near Gabriel's and it's his favorite New Mexican restaurant of all times. Every time he comes back to visit, he always dines at Gabriel's. During our 2 nights stay in Santa Fe, we went to Gabriel's twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. They are closed on Tuesday - so take note. Food was flavorful and good.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The food was so good that I didn't even take any pictures before I ate it! Gabriel's was in a perfect spot off the highway while we were traveling. We had a large party (10 people) but we were seated quickly, and our server was fantastic. The chips and salsa were delicious, and we got some guac as an appetizer. It's made table-side, and everything was so fresh. I got chicken fajitas and did not regret it. I was surprised at how good the food was especially with how quickly we were served. Definitely recommend Gabriel's if you're in the area!

Patrick H.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and last night was the worst service I have had we ordered a bowl of posole , tortilla soup, and it took them over an hour and a half. Yes I understand they were busy. These two items are premade items server was lost half the time. worst service ever.

Maurice C.

Yelp
Gabriel's came thru! My son was getting married Labor day weekend and another restaurant a week before the reception decided to tell us they don't have a liquor license. So the owners Brad and his wife gladly accepted your reception reservation with 1 week notice. They gave us a private room we had 40 guests and they had 5 servers taking very good care of all our guests. The service, food, and table settings were incredible. I really want to thank Brad, his wife, and Gabriel's staff for a memorable evening.

Eric W.

Yelp
Great ambience and service (generally). Last visit was on a weekday, and was seated in bar. Service not as usual. Perhaps it's just me, but the food is not as good as I remember pre-COVID. I am not a cilantro fan, and the salsa seems a bit heavy on cilantro now, and I do not recall that before. Or at least it tastes that way to me the last 2 times we went. Still worth a try, though it is no longer my must go to like it was before.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
For the first time in 28 years, my meal at Gabriel's recently was only adequate and just not the same. My husband and I had our usual and I we ate it and both mentioned immediately that it wasn't very good. This restaurant was the most consistent place for amazing food and excellent service. We both thought something was off. I learned later that the restaurant has changed owners. I don't understand how it could go downhill so fast. Afterall, it's the staff that made it good, not necessarily the owner. My simple enchiladas didn't have enough sauce (only a dash of it). So maybe the new owners said to cut back on the chili - really???? It is so sad because they are no longer on our list of places to go.

Yelp
We waited forever to get in but it was Friday night and it was worth it. Come here to watch the sunset and prepare to feast on yummy-ness! Service was ok but in all fairness it's crazy busy and not enough workers. These guys and gals are working hard to get everyone what they need. Food: excellent! Everything is so authentic. Being from California we know what authentic tastes like and this place did not disappoint. I recommend to come early and sit outside. Great ambiance in a desert garden setting.

Yelp
The table side guac was the best ever. The scenery/ambiance could not be beat. Brian came by the table to check on us, our servers were terrific. Vegan options available. Fish tacos excellent. A very relaxing and delicious experience. Highly recommend!
