We had the pleasure of meeting Gai and enjoying a delicious cup of tea. Whilst we weren't able to take the candle making workshop we've loved the candle we purchased. Gai is an excellent communicator, widely travelled and is very knowledgeable about art, tea and scents.

Everything happens for a reason, and meeting P’Gai, the owner of Gai Artisan Candles, was definitely one of those moments that felt meant to be. My sister invited me to join her for a candle workshop, I didn’t even hesitate—being obsessed with all things that smell amazing, how could I say no? From the moment you step into Gai Artisan Candles, it feels like you’ve been transported to a world of calm and zen. P’Gai started by teaching us the basics of the scent wheel, walking us through different notes and categories. Then came the fun part: experimenting with all the scents to find ones that matched our preferences—naturally, I gravitated towards woody and musky notes. She asked us to jot down a few answers about who we are, and from that, she helped us select notes that reflected our personalities. Next, we got hands-on, blending our scents with her guidance, learning how some notes dominate others and balancing the levels just right. After the sciency bit—melting the wax and combining everything—we poured our custom candles. While waiting for the wax to cool, she treated us to a mini tea-making lesson, which was so relaxing. We chatted, laughed, and soaked in the moment before finally admiring our finished candles. Two hours flew by in the blink of an eye, and it was such a fun and wholesome experience. Highly recommend visiting Gai Artisan Candles for a truly wholesome and unforgettable experience!

I was looking for a quiet activity for my daughter of 5 and I. The candles workshop of Gai was perfect ! Gai is a very welcoming person, she likes what she is doing and she likes sharing it. She was patient with my daughter, even play with her waiting for the candles to dry. We shared a cup of tea with sweet rice cakes and good talk. Really intersting workshop, and the candles smell amazing 😊 Thanks again Gai!!

We had an amazing morning with Gai. She showed us how to make our own scented candles. We were able to create a fragrance for the candle based on our own mood and preferences. Beside the crafty morning we had an interesting chat about Lao culture and traditions. Thanks again Gai, we had an amazing time! 🫶

Very good workshop. A lot of explanation. The room itself is very relaxing, a nice place to spend some time and learn about aromatic candle making. Thoughtful all the way through and the tea making is a nice extra touch. 100% recommended!

I enjoyed my candle making class & Laos tea with the charming Mr. Lee! There were many oils to choose from so I could create a unique fragrance which will remind me of Laos' dense jungles, beautiful elephants, cool, dewy mornings, and balmy summer nights. The location of this shop is in a sort of artists circle as the shop next door made paper. Be sure to cross the Old French Bridge to get here! Candle making was both fun and easy under the instructor's care. I feel inspired to make my own candles when I go back home!

Gai’s candle-making workshop was fantastic. The setup was meticulous and thoughtful from start to finish. We learned about the science behind creating scents and then crafted our own based on mood boards she helped us develop. While the candles dried, we enjoyed learning how to make traditional Laos tea, which was delicious. The hand-drawn cards and handmade packaging for the candles were a wonderful touch. I highly recommend this experience—it's a must-do in Luang Prabang.
