What It’s Like to Travel Across Europe as an American Right Now - AFAR

"A neighborhood London bakery where the author enjoyed a pain aux raisins and cappuccino during a quick morning visit; the treat was half price thanks to the U.K. government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme, making it an inexpensive, casual spot to pause and plan travel." - Annie Fitzsimmons

Honestly I love Gails!! The cinnamon bun is addictive, STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN! My top 3 recommendations: Ham&cheese Croissant, cinnamon bun, brown butter financiers & roasted sweet potato & freekeh salad. The food never disappoints, the quality is always there! My favourite branch is the London Bridge one! The staff is friendly. There is these 2 gentlemen’s that served me in separate occasions, GREAT service & they are one of the reasons I keep coming back. Thank you ❤️

Gail’s at London Bridge – A True Gem Fantastic spot for fresh bread and breakfast pastries! The selection is both healthy and delicious, from artisanal bread and cakes to breakfast cereals, jams, and cookies. Quality ingredients and great flavors make it a standout choice. The only downside might be the price, but for the quality, it’s well worth it. A must-visit for a quick bite or a takeaway treat. Rating: 8/10

Gail’s is always a certainty when you want a cuddle to start your day or just a good coffee to get yourself running. Super kind personnel, smiling and supportive. A big thank you to Robert for being patient with my card issues this morning and calmly supporting until all was sorted.

I popped into GAIL’s LB and was genuinely impressed. The staff weren’t just polite – they were actually friendly, and welcomed me with a smile and were happy to chat while keeping things moving. The service was quick, even though it was busy, and the coffee was top notch! I grabbed a chocolate almond croissant (still warm!) and one of their fresh muffins straight out of the oven and both were excellent. Flaky, buttery, and full of flavour without being overly sweet. You can really tell they care about quality here. Looking forward to coming back.

Bought a loaf of fresh seeded sour dough bread first time yesterday! It was so tasty! Make my day! Also staff are very helpful. Also, I misplaced my flask yesterday at the store. When I called this morning, the gentleman was super helpful and professional over the phone. He promised to keep it for me to collect it when I go pass their store next time. Definitely worth a visit to get your bread and cakes!

This is the most awful staff ever!!!! The retail man said we don’t have iced coffee, 1 min later in front of me! I told you have ice? They said Oh, just a few!!!!! Then I asked and they acted Weired I was having a matcha latte with no ice but not a hot one!! And then they just added two cubes to my glass and made a mess!! I was so disgusted that I even did not stay for a refund. I just left to write this!!! #gails!! £4.80 matcha is such a shame taste and staff

I used to find Gail's at the higher end of good bakers and cafes, they are now appearing everywhere but they can't maintain quality and consistency. Their bread is the only saving grace but some of this uses lower end seed oils in the ingredients.

I just had a cheese and ham croissant, as well as an almond croissant, from Gail’s Bakery located in London Bridge Station. The cheese and ham croissant was very nice—generously cheesy—but a bit more ham would have made it perfect. It was amazing overall. The almond croissant, however, was one of the most delicious treats I’ve ever eaten. It was rich, buttery, and filled with almonds. Although I’d love to have it more often, it’s fairly pricey, but absolutely worth it. Overall, it was an amazing morning treat. I’m very satisfied!
