This Lesser-known Beach Was Just Named the Best in Europe

"Ghajn Tuffieha Bay Beach, also known as Riviera Beach, is a low-key beach on the island of Malta. It is known for its preserved natural beauty, red sand, impressively clear water, and stunning surrounding cliffs. The beach is located near the more famous Golden Bay Beach but is far less crowded due to the significant descent required to reach it. Visitors are rewarded with crystalline swimming water, wildflowers, and walking trails in the cliffs." - Madeline Weinfield

The beach left a very pleasant impression — the sand is incredibly soft and fine, making it comfortable to walk barefoot even during the hottest hours of the day. The water is crystal clear and pleasantly warm, with a gentle slope into the sea, which makes it suitable for both adults and children. Overall, the atmosphere is rather calm, although it can get crowded during peak hours. Unfortunately, there are some downsides. The beach doesn’t seem to be cleaned as often as it should be, and bits of litter can be found in the sand, especially closer to the rocky areas. This takes away from the beauty of the place, because the natural setting itself is truly stunning. One of the biggest highlights is the snorkeling. Near the rocks you can see a wide variety of colorful fish, and it is fascinating to watch them up close. We were even lucky enough to spot a small stingray, which made the experience unforgettable. Sunbeds are available for rent at a reasonable price — €25 for a set of two loungers and an umbrella. At the entrance, there is a restaurant with free toilets, which is very convenient. However, some basic facilities are missing: there is no place to rinse the sand off your feet, and only one paid shower, which is definitely not enough for a beach of this size. Despite these shortcomings, our overall impression was very positive. Compared to Golden Bay, this beach felt much nicer — the water seemed cleaner, the atmosphere was more relaxing, and the snorkeling opportunities were simply excellent. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and infrastructure, this place could easily become one of the best beaches in the area.

Wow. I cant believe that its not highlighted on google maps at large scale map. Place is so beutiful. I would rate at least top 3 if not first in Malta's most beutiful landscapes. Also Singita restaurant at the beach is so cozy and with spectacular views. I got lucky that one of the hotels staff member mentioned about it. Its a must see viewpoint when visiting Malta.

Nice bar. Cheap unbrellas (7eur per day). But extremely crowded (in August)z it is hard to get spot already in middle of the day. Water is not so clean. Always loud music (in summer). Bar is very busy. A lot of boats parked. Nice surrounding. Close to bus station, but buses are always late.

Beautiful place, definitely worth visiting for the sunset. You can walk to the top of the hill in about 10–15 minutes, and the view from there is absolutely amazing.

One of the most stunning beaches in Malta for the view, the sea, the sunset. Sunset was perfect (apart from the influencers) During the weekend it's suggested to go early. SERVICES: sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, a lovely bar/restaurant next to Unfortunately too many people do not have respect for others and for the place itself, so in the afternoon due to careless and the boats (TOO CLOSE TO THE BEACH) there were lots of micro plastic into the sea.

Beautiful beach with clear water and stunning views, perfect for swimming and relaxing. However, there isn’t much around in terms of facilities or food options, so it’s good to bring what you need with you. Still, definitely worth a visit if you want a calm day by the sea.

Nice beach, perfect for pictures and a beautiful sunset! There’s a beach bar where you can eat, have a drink, or grab something to take with you.

Peaceful environment, but a bit crowded. If you don’t plan to rent a sunbed, you have to spread your blanket on the sand. The left side is a really good spot for diving.
