Been coming here for years to fix my Japanese food, especially ramen, cravings. Always a friendly atmosphere with Chef Haru san greeting the guests on the way in. This small Japanese restaurant keeps me coming back with their ever evolving gaku ramen (now V4.0) but also their seasonal specials. Hand made chewy noodles cooked to perfection with their Smokey chashu and fried burdock are unique to this place and quickly became a favourite for my wife and I.

This is one of my favourite ramen spots and a Japanese restaurant I always come back to. The ramen is consistently rich and well-balanced, and you can really tell the care that goes into the Japanese food here. The broth is full of flavour without being too heavy, the noodles are cooked perfectly, and the toppings are always fresh. The fried lotus topping is especially delicious, as it soaks up the broth, it makes the soup even richer and adds an extra layer of depth and flavour. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese food, especially a solid bowl of ramen, this place is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine.

Owner Haru and Otto always give a warm and friendly welcome. It’s a ramen shop during the day and switches to an izakaya-style spot at night. One of the highlights is sitting at the Japanese-style counter, where you can enjoy your meal while watching the cooking process right in front of you. The menu changes slightly depending on the season and the day, so it’s definitely a place you’ll want to come back to more than once. If you’re keen to enjoy creative dishes alongside classic Japanese food, I’d definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been a big fan of Gaku ever since it opened. I highly recommend their veggie ramen in particular :) It’s really light and healthy, and tasty!! I never knew ramen could be so delicious without using fatty oil. Dinner is very tasty too - highly recommend having dinner there for special occasions. You’ll love the tasty Japanese food they serve as well as the beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant, especially at dinner time. This is the only Japanese restaurant in Sydney I can confidently recommend to anyone who’s looking for a high quality Japanese restaurant.

Great experience at Gaku Robata. The sashimi was very fresh, and the sushi was well balanced and flavorful. The hotpot rice was comforting and full of umami, perfect to share and enjoy slowly. The atmosphere was warm, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A great spot for quality Japanese food — I’ll definitely be back.

Delicious Wagyu ramen and a delightful green tea yuzu cocktail. The beef was cooked just right with hint of red rareness in the centre and so soft to melt in the mouth. Mild green pepper taste in the broth completes the ramen flavour. I’m in ramen and Wagyu heaven.

I have been coming to Gaku Robata Grill for over 10 years. For lunch they have amazing ramen and diner is always perfect. Today I had the Wagyu Ramen and Macha Yuzu Mocktail, they were both absolutely delicious!

I can only speak for the lunchtime ramen specials, but the two bowls I ate (on seperate visits) were delicious. Both service staff as well as Chef Haru were friendly and made my stay as a solo diner welcoming.

Yelp
Went in for some ramen dinner. They don't serve at night, totally fine and understandable. I asked when they serve, and they told me 12-2pm. So i agreed to come back later in the week. Upon leaving, we were charged 5$/person for the water we had not yet been served. And when we paid and got the bottles, we were told we could Not take them to go. So we left with a $15 charge and nothing had been served. Definitely not returning

Yelp
This is literally the best ramen I have eaten outside of Japan. They have a limited number of bowls available so make sure you get there early to get yours! There's usually a special, currently clam chowder for winter, which is so good. Chicken and duck ramens are always a winner. Round your meal off with delicious pork gyoza. Be sure to bring cash!!

Yelp
The shittiest restaurant ever. When I called for reservations, they cannot understand what I was talking about, they don't understand English at all. Then during the dinner time, they gave out food to another table let us wait for more than half an hour---an no apology at all. When I paid the bills, I asked what's that dish is, cause I don't want to pay something that they gave to another table, the cashier said 'it is what it is' Fuck you bitch, just go fuck yourselves
