"In development for several years, this much-anticipated social and culture destination is finally debuting in October and will anchor the waterfront in the Karakoy district. Design sights include the world’s first underground cruise ship terminal, museums, and a collection of restaurants and stores located in former warehouses that have been reimagined into modern spaces."

Where We’re Dreaming of Traveling Next Year: Women Who Travel Podcast

"Galataport, which is on the European side of the Bosphorus. For those who aren't aware, the Bosphorus basically divides Europe and Asia, so you can switch between continents when you're in the city, which is a novelty that has never gotten old for me. But Galataport has been a long time coming and it is a huge social, cultural, leisure area on the waterfront near Karaköy, which is a super cool neighborhood. The reason why it's got so developed is because it is going to be the new cruise terminal, so for anyone who is planning on cruising through Europe or the Middle East, chances are you might be passing through Galataport next year and beyond. But it's also the site of the new Renzo Piano–designed Istanbul Modern museum, which is the major contemporary art museum in Istanbul, which I've always loved and I think is fantastic and I'm very excited to see the new space."

This is one of the coolest and most modern places to take a walk, especially for watching the activity on the Bosphorus. It's a large complex that mixes a cruise terminal with an open-air mall, full of stores, restaurants, and charming cafes. Access is free, but you do need to go through a metal detector, as the entrance is through the shopping area. It's a very pleasant environment for a leisurely walk, watching the ships, and enjoying the view.

This is a huge, well built port. It has plenty of signs so you can easily figure out where you are going. The walk can be a bit long to access the city but it's well designed and well organized. I would happily come through this port again. The view from a cruise ship over the pier walls is absolutely breathtaking too. Such a beautiful area around the port! Sadly, I didn't take any pictures of the port itself, but the views from the port were stunning

Galataport Istanbul is a modern waterfront district located along the Bosphorus in the heart of Istanbul. It serves as both a world-class cruise terminal and a lively destination for shopping, dining, art, and culture. Opened in 2021, Galataport has transformed the historic Karaköy area into a vibrant promenade featuring international brands, local restaurants, museums such as the Istanbul Modern, and stunning views of the Bosphorus.

Small but pretty easy getting in and boarding your ship. Gotta go under the commercial area to get to the port. Find an elevator or escalator and down you go.

Galataport wasn’t exactly our go-to spot, but it was a place we enjoyed visiting when we wanted a livelier atmosphere in the city! The port is always bustling with energy, due to the constant flow of cruise ships and the international crowd it attracts. Despite the busy environment, the layout is thoughtfully spacious, making it easy to navigate and relax even with so many people coming and going. There’s a wide variety of dining options—we tried a mix of places, including a brewery, a sushi restaurant, and cocktail bars. The overall quality of food and service was consistent and enjoyable across the board. Galataport a solid choice if you’re looking for a lively, dynamic spot with plenty to explore by the water :)
