Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort (Ballymena, UK) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hidden away on 163 acres of emerald parkland with the River Maine flowing through it, Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort delivers serene relaxation, be it via its 72-par course or its extensive spa and wellness offerings. Rooms are homey, yet contemporary, outfitted with Rolf Benz furniture and plaid accents. The Thermal Village Spa is the first of its kind in Ireland, featuring several saunas and a milder sanarium, as well as riverside soaking tubs, and a snow cabin, for an invigorating Finnish-style plunge. The Castle Championship Course at the Galgorm Castle is the home of the Northern Ireland Open, and is just the most convenient option, with several links courses accessible nearby. In addition to afternoon tea, the dining venues range from a formal restaurant in a riverside conservatory to a more casual Italian option and a bar and grill." - Tablet Hotels

We did a dinner, bed, breakfast and spa treatment overnight stay last weekend and all we can say is 11/10 from start to finish! ||The atmosphere in the hotel is very chill which is exactly what we needed. We stayed in a superior room which was large, spacious, very clean and had an extremely comfy bed. It overlooked the river and spa and it was lovely! ||Overall we found the spa experience from|Start to finish amazing. The thermal experience is the best we have ever been to, so much choice. The indoor spa itself is gorgeous and so well ran and the treatments we got were super. Staff are really knowledgable. The hotel is huge and busy but everything runs seamlessly! ||The Elemis cafe outside in the thermal experience was a little on the pricier side however it was really enjoyable as part of the whole day. The dinner in Gillies was really lovely, staff were great and although it was very busy, everything was presented so well and tasted divine. ||Overall so worth the extra cost as everything was fabulous and a really really lovely treat! We cannot wait to return!

We got married in the Phantom Hall back in 2020. We both wanted to celebrate our 5th anniversary together by returning to Galgorm. Entering our room I had already purchased a bottle of prosecco to surprise my wife. But Galgorm also added some small cakes, small box of chocolates and a scented candle. Also included a card wishing us a happy anniversary. My wife loved this. Whilst there on our stay. We both had massages. A mud ritual and a residential jacuzzi next to the river maine whilst drinking prosecco. We ate at 2 of the 3 restaurants. Kitchen and Castle then Gullies and we enjoyed all our meals there. We will be back for our 10th anniversary but I hope to get her there sooner.

We have just returned from a wonderful 2  night stay (29th & 30th September). We are regular guests, however we usually only stay for 1 night. This stay exceeded our expectations on all levels and has been the best stay yet! ||Check in was seamless! We were greeted by exceptionally friendly staff who kindly arranged for our bags to be taken to our room while we enjoyed the Spa. ||Spa was to the usual high standard and not busy at all. We enjoyed a private hot tub experience in the serenity garden which was divine! As part of this experience we were suprised to be given a bottle of prosecco which was very much appreciated. The Spa was so relaxing and peaceful, a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! ||We stayed in a junior suite which was spectacular! It was luxurious and incredibly comfortable! We didn't want to leave! Every detail has been carefully considered and this room has absolutely everything needed for a memorable stay. There was a hot tub on the balcony which overlooked the Spa and River Maine. Gorgeous! This has been our favourite accommodation so far! ||We enjoyed dinner in The Castle Kitchen on our first night. Wow! We shared the Chateaubriand and both agreed that this was one of the best steaks we've ever had! Staff were so attentive and friendly. Service exceptional! Our meal was absolutely perfect, every course a delight! ||We booked the Jawbox Gin event for our 2nd night and it was incredible. All courses were divine and the drinks delicious. We have attended almost every gin event at Galgorm and it is always a fabulous night. With particular mention to the staff who are, as always, professional, welcoming and pleasant. ||McKendrys Bar has a vibrant atmosphere, wonderful entertainment and delicious drinks. Special mention to the bar staff working 30th September, they were exceptional! ||Breakfast in both The River Room and Gilles is to a very high standard, perfectly cooked using fresh and quality produce! ||It is the staff at Galgorm that make our stay memorable each time. They go above and beyond in providing customer satisfaction. The kindness and friendliness of the staff is the reason we return time and time again. Even in challenging situations, the staff continue to provide exceptional and professional customer care. They are a credit to The Galgorm! ||Overall, we had a wonderful stay and are already planning our next visit!

We have let the hotel know our feedback were basically told, thanks for your feedback we will try better next time. When you pay £350 for a night in the forest den I think its only right to have very high expectations. Check in was slow with only one staff member on and a big queue behind us. Forest den was a huge trek away - would be pretty miserable in the rain (even with the shuttle, its a trek). Upon arriving at the spa after our trek in swimsuit and robe it was mega busy and therefore not super relaxing. Wood for the wood burning tub and sauna was damp so we couldn't light it without help which ruined the private vibe and made us late for dinner. Dinner was fine but a huge stack of dirty glasses on the bar that weren't cleared the whole time we were there. The window in the den doesn't have a blind to cover the whole thing so I was woken at 5am. The forest den hut is lovely but not worth the money. Breakfast in the conservatory was lovely. Not the relaxing stay we hoped for and way over priced. I might go back to the spa off peak, but Im not going back to stay. Shame.

Having visited the Resort earlier this month for an essential respite break I have to say that the stay fulfilled all of my requirements and, indeed, well beyond my expectations. From the outset I encountered an obvious culture of friendliness and welcome which immediately made me feel at ease, and this was something which, despite some inclement weather conditions, was palpable right from the outset when I arrived at the front entrance. This caring atmosphere carried on through to reception and to waiter service, indeed throughout the whole complex and including the spotlessly clean pools and spa facilities, as well.|I had no idea that the wonderfully modern facilities were so extensive and right through the whole resort and, coupled with further innovative extension plans (which I enjoyed viewing) quickly made me feel that I must not waste any time in fixing a return visit.|Might I tender a little gentle feedback, that better signage etc such as could be viewed through the eyes of, for instance, a first-time client and linked to a concise locations leaflet guide would be most helpful to first timers and to most seniors like myself.|Gordon from N Down N I - September 2025.

Stayed in one of the cottages, great space with everything you could ask for in a relaxing break. |Breakfast in the conservatory was a delight. Plenty on offer brought to the table. Must remember to specify how soft i like my eggs next time as the poached eggs were overdone, but if thats my only negative, don’t let it deter you from an amazing experience. |There was a takeaway menu in the room, which I may use next time, but we ate in Fratelli’s as fancied an evening out. |Plenty of food choice.

Stayed for two nights. Can't fault Galgorm at all. Hotel and spa were spotless. Hotel staff where very helpful and friendly. Breakfast , afternoon tea and dinners in hotel to beautiful. Thou fair bit to eat with the afternoon tea, so starve yourself before. I will definitely be going back.

Went there for a 40th birthday with my partner, not for me. The thermal village was packed, looking for an opening to get into a hottub. The sauna we were in it for 5 mins and they told to leave as there was group booking going on for next 2 hours and the hottubs along the river were roped off and was an extra when the room was £400 a night. Lots of large groups of ladies chatting away and seemed to enjoy it, but not somewhere you would want to go as a couple. Breakfast was 100% and staff were friendly. The Bars and Restaurants in the hotel were really good...

Yelp
My sister got married here at the Galgorm. The grounds are beautiful. We stayed in the cottages. It was very spacious. We had 2 large bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area and a large living room. We also had a washer/dryer in the cottage. Our cottage came with a fully stocked mini bar at no extra cost. We were given snacks at no extra cost. Both the drinks and snacks were replenished daily. There was a tv in the living room. All rooms were fully furnished. The kitchen had pots, pans, and dishes. Housekeeping came daily to clean. Beds were so comfy. Bathroom was very big. We were provided with robes and flip flops. Now let's talk about Thermal Spa Village. There were so many hot tubs, saunas and meditation rooms everywhere in the village. I never felt like it was too crowded. It was open from 8:00am-10:00pm daily. There is a river running through the property very scenic and peaceful. I don't think we even went to every spa steam room or sauna. It was just so much to experience. Now the spa also offered other services at an additional price. Breakfast was included with the purchase of our cottage. There were two restaurants that served breakfast. Our favorite was The Conservatory because they offered a la carte breakfast items and it was beautiful inside. They also have a Fratellis Italian restaurant on site and bar/ pub on site as well. So as mentioned my sister got married here. She was married in a small chapel called the Ghost House. Then they had the reception in the 4 Seasons reception hall adjacent to the hotel. It was very nice. There was comfortable seating. The food for the wedding was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed every bite and I had the vegetarian dishes. If you are planning to get hitched in Belfast, please consider the Galgorm Resort & Spa. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Spa is nice but private bookings are not respected, random strangers will walk in during your activities and the spa staff do not tell them to leave

Yelp
There is no better way to spend a glorious Friday afternoon than to have a heavenly Afternoon Tea in The Conservatory, overlooking the river at http://www.galgorm.com/ I was invited along to sample The Gin Afternoon Tea- I had everything on offer except the arrival Gin cocktail and the Gin Champagne cocktail. With my savouries I had a delicious cup of Little Green Bag tea, from India (which I had without milk) which worked very well. The savouries were Cucumber Gazpacho, Gin Cured Salmon Gravalx, Potted Duck with Gin and Lavender Jelly and a finger sandwich of Chicken with Martini Aioli. The mini servings were subtly flavoured with Gin and really went down a treat. For sweets I started with Freshly Baked Scone with Raspberry Gin Jam with clotted cream, note the cream always goes on first-I tried it both ways haha!! Then I tucked into Lemon and Cucumber Cake laced with Hendricks, Vanilla Panacotta with a Sloe Gin Jelly, Brockmans Berry Macaroon, Oranged Infused Gin Tart and a walnut cake (and not the marshmallow). The scone was soft and moist and cream and jam were excellent. The cakes were moist and delicious and not too strong with gin. The panacotta was velvetty and probably my favourite, clever use of gin jelly. The macaroon was purple and hard and dry outside, soft and moist inside and the tart filling was again rich and creamy and pastry was firm and not stodgy. My tea choice here was Black Beauty from India and I had this with a drop of milk. The venue was absolutely fitting for this Regal Gin Afternoon Tea, service was second to none and I managed to get a few minutes with Matthew the Bar Manager and Gin Expert to give me a run down on the different gins used- he really is a font of knowledge!!. The cutlery and crockery befitted the occasion!! I would like to thank Jane and Matthew for making my visit today a very memorable experience. The price tag of £34.94 is per person and includes two Gin cocktails and a selection of 11 teas (from India, China, Spain, South Africa and Egypt) supplied by https://www.johnsonscoffee.com/!! Booking is highly recommended.

Yelp
Had afternoon tea on a Tuesday with champagne and it was relaxed and you could easily sit on. We had the autumnal treats which included a selection of sandwiches accompanied by a tasty curried carrot soup - which was yummy. We then had a plain and assorted fruit scone and clotted cream. The fruit scone had apricots and different fruits not just sultanas and were warm which made them even more delicious. The middle tier was a macaroon which had peanut butter/ caramel in the middle, a light pistachio pasty - although to be honest I couldn't taste much nuts off it. Then the top was a lemon wafer and panna cotta. All was very flavorsome although extremely sweet I would have preferred more sandwiches over the sweet items as they were so fresh and delicious. Great wee mid-week treat and on-power price wise with other places such as Merchant and that and worth trying. Only con was they have loose leaf tea but getting normal black tea we just had a tea bag and no fresh loose tea.

Yelp
Tasting menu was amazing! My favorite spot in Northern Ireland so far. Staff was amazing and soooo nice. Had the best date here because of how kind the waiters were. Highly recommend!! Dessert is also amazing!

Yelp
I live abroad and was home for a holiday so went with my family as a special treat. There is no doubt that the spa facilities and location are both amazing. I'm not sure of many other places on the same level elsewhere in the world to be honest. However, on the communication side they are really missing a trick which is a crying shame. No email confirming the booking was sent and they couldn't find our booking (kept waiting for some time). It was hard to remember exactly what was included in the particular spa package that we bought. We weren't any clearer after checking in either and had no idea where to go and that a full hour of spa had been booked for us when we had planned to do 15 minutes and meet up again for lunch. What a waste! As for having lunch, we weren't informed that we could only enter the cafe in our robes and slippers! A manager came to speak to us and promised to follow up with an email regarding our whole experience but that didn't happen. The staff really should make sure that first time visitors are fully informed to make the most of their experience and the money they have paid. It could and should have been an amazing experience but we ended up very disappointed. It was also very crowded and so didn't feel very exclusive or like a special treat. The lack of customer service is what's most disappointing. I don't think this would create a good impression for international visitors either.

Yelp
One of the best spas I have ever been too. For such a large Spa it is run perfectly. Every little detail is given 100% attention. You could easily spend a day in the Spa village as there are so many little things to descover. Robes and slippers are provided for your comfort. There are some watering stations availible to keep away the thirst. The staff are extremely professional and the atmosphere is so welcoming and relaxing. I will definitely be returning very soon.

Yelp
This is my favourite hotel in Northern Ireland! It is spectacular in both looks and facilities. The spa is amazing and I would stay here for that alone....but thankfully the rest is just as good, Gillies offers an excellent menu and the rooms are beautiful. Such a lovely setting for a wee weekend getaway to pamper yourself :)

Yelp
Nice location, good front desk, pretty grounds, particularly a river that runs through the property. The downside is the room felt very dated and there was no temperature control (I found it quite hot to sleep). I was expecting something a little more modern and less dated but not bad.

Yelp
I booked the thermal spa and afternoon package for myself and my mum to celebrate her birthday. The galgorm had been recommended as the best spa nearby, with the most spa facilities. Being one of the most popular wedding venues I was disappointed by the lack of signposts until you are nearly on top of it. Signal is pretty much non existent so I struggled to get directions on my phone. However, we found it eventually and it was uphill from then on. The spa is beautifully decorated, with tranquil music and soothing staff who ensure your visit runs smoothly. The thermal spa was second to none, there was a large array of sauna type rooms and different jet pools/hot tub as well as heated stone loungers which my mum actually fell asleep on as they were so comfortable and relaxing. There's an outdoor hottub and jet pool which overlook the beautiful river. They also have sun loungers where you can chill out on a warm day and spy on brides getting pictures taken if you are lucky. After the spa a staff member kindly escorted us to the river room where we had afternoon tea. We were given the perfect seats at the window with the most stunning view of the river (and more brides). Afternoon tea was very luxurious with the staff being very attentive and filing up my tea cup at lightening speed. As with all afternoon teas there is no way you will finish it but just ask for a box and they will pack it all up so you can over indulge twice in one day. Can't think of a better way to have some much needed bonding time with my mum.

Yelp
The spa was lovely and relaxing I do feel it was quite crowded at times, but it was clean and I had a lovely afternoon. The cafe food was good to. I felt the bed room was a tad dated, and the work In profess started early in The morning was annoying to wake up to. The afternoon tea was divine

Yelp
It really is the Ultimate in luxury relaxation and wellness. From the moment you arrive at Galgorm you can tell that you are going to have a special experience. The Spa itself was beautiful on entrance and the staff were professional and friendly. The staff member explained what to expect and showed me to the changing rooms. The changing rooms were well equipped and every little touch was taken care off including the fluffy robe and slippers, the fruit infused water and fruit for refreshment. They use Voya products for facials and massage. The day spa packages include relaxation in the thermal spa village, which has indoor pool, infinity hydrotherapy pool, samarium and sauna, Jacuzzi and hot tub. You can choose from signature (85 mins), opulent (70mins), indulgent and luxury treatments. Galgorm spa is truly a place worth visiting. It is expensive, but worth it!

Yelp
River Room lunch; another return visit lol I need to branch out more. Another beautifully located restaurant in the hotel. We had a lovely view of the river Maine while wating for our meal. A very pleasant restaurant, stylish and refined it commands a hushed but pleasant atmosphere but not in anyway intimidating. Lunch was wonderful :) staff were attentive and friendly and service was excellent. We were offered to finish our dessert and coffees in the River Room Conservatory, a nice little touch.

Yelp

Yelp
I was here recently for a friends wedding, I'd been before but only as a child and nothing prepared me for the totally stunning and breath taking scenes all around of the lushious Northern Irish country side. The wedding service was held in the beautiful 'phantom house', located beside the scenic river and waterfalls, it was utterly gorgeous. The room was decorated exquisitely with amtospheric church candles and drapes everywhere. Then the meal was served in the Great Hall where the reception was held later as well. I'd be here all day if I listed everything top class about this place but what sticks in mind was the huge mirror which was nealy as big as my bed. I'm not kidding, if I'd a handbag big enough it'd be gone! Also, the rather grand chairs in the bar area, which were used in bygone days for the night porter, I'm lead to believe, are like an upright body sofa and comfy as anything! Last but certainly not least was the food which was incredible, the wine (wow) I like my wine and can be quite picky about it, it was simply delicious. We stayed the night up at the basic self catering fishermens' cottages, which are a five or ten minute walk from the hotel itself. Perfect if you prefer a little more seclusion and privacy. Up this end the views were breath taking. Our bedorom looked out on to acres of fields littered with horses and cattle. Galgorm is set in 163 acres of lush parkland. We took a walk down by the river side the next morning which I'm sure many people enjoy. The resort is only 30 minutes from Belfast and offers a range of services including spa treatment, horse riding facilities, conference suites, wedding services. The list goes on. Visit their website for more details. If you're looking a romantic weekend away this would be the perfect place to go and treat someone special to a stay I'm sure you'll never forget.

Yelp
With the Galgorm being in ballymena I wasn't sure what the fuss was about, but I couldn't have been more wrong. It was so nice, the staff were helpful and friendly and with the manicured grounds that you could walk around in at your leisure. The thermal spa, made you feel like you were in another country. It had a great variety of indoor and outdoor pools and facilities. You could easily spend a whole afternoon relaxing and unwinding from your day to day stress. A definite must!

Yelp
A beautiful spot in beautiful Northern Ireland. We had somehow made a mistake with our reservations and only had one room with one bed for three adults. Vicky, the hotel manager, was calm and creative and helpful and found a solution for us despite being filled up and having two weddings each night. The whole staff seemed to know of our situation and kept asking us if we were happy and making sure that our stay was as convenient and pleasant as possible. If we ever go back to Northern Ireland, we will certainly stay at Galgorm again.

Yelp
Like heaven on earth. Lol Look forward to staying here at some stage. Just been here for business

Yelp
I took my friend to high tea in the River Room conservatory in Galgorm this weekend, and they did not disappoint. With the strong winter wind blowing outside we were greeted in the lobby by glowing fires. We made our way through the busy reception and there were plenty of well-presented staff to greet us. The furniture in the dining area was stylish, clean and all looks brand new, the plush carpets and surroundings felt like I was in my rich aunt's house not a hotel. We started off with a choice of teas (too many to mention) and also a choice of sandwiches. We stayed a lot longer than we had planned (2pm - 5.30pm) and the staff continued to bring us more hot tea long after we had finished the food. I would recommend anyone to come along here for a warm welcome and relaxing lunch, mind you the cost means I would only do so on a special occasion. This hotel always delivers on attention to detail.

Yelp
Lovely hotel for a romantic getaway! The new spa village is gorgeous however extremely busy, even during weekdays. Treatments in the spa are a tad pricey for what they are. Room overlooking the river was a bonus! Next time I would definitely book a private hot tub by the river, looked lush!

Yelp
Great spot this. I was new to the spa experience when I went here for the first time a couple of years ago under duress. I was a convert pretty soon after getting to the place. Thanks to an overnight mid-week deal which they run throughout the year (check their website for it) we got a package, for a night, dinner and breakfast and unlimited use of the spa for the duration of the stay. My better half assured me I would like spas but I only went for the promise of a night in a nice hotel and being fed like a foie gras goose. Firstly the hotel surpassed my expectations, immaculately kept, luxurious furnishings and attentive, welcoming and friendly staff. Everything you'd hope to find if you were going to a hotel that you already expected to be a cut above the standard. The food was good too, to be completely honest although good, it was just a fraction below a standard that would be in keeping with the rest of the place. The breakfast was excellent so this just applies to the dinner. We were given a separate menu as part of the deal were there on so perhaps that is why, I've never eaten in the restaurant as a 'normal' diner, just when staying on the deal and eating off the deal menu. Finally the spa, it was amazing, a great pool with various massage features around it, 3 different types of sauna/steam room type things and, a fountain the dispenses ice shavings to close your pores after the hot treatments and two full body massage showers. There are too many other little touches and facilities that made the experience top class to go into here, so I'd urge you to try it for yourself as I've been quite a few times now and never yet been let down.

Yelp
was up picking my partner from the hotel were she was at a dinner function and a taxi outside reversed into me and i was beside there cctv which i needed as the taxi drivers work mate said i hit him and he would be witness.I contacted them many of times and kept getting ignored over 6 months but at the end they said they had to send it away cause it was faulty in which that company kept ignoring me as i left hundreds of missed calls and was told i would get a call back and i didnt. They ignored me and my solictors and they were a joke. You would think a company that size they would have proper cctv instead of a company useless called contact security systems.Never again i will be there or anyone i know.

Yelp
I had a fantastic stay at Galgorm Manor in August of this year. Gillies Bar and Restaurant was excellent; the food was delicious and the service was very attentive. Our room was beautiful, and the bed was magnificent! The height of the bed was up to my waist, and was decorated with plumped up, crisp, clean pillows and a lovely big duvet bliss! This was situated perfectly in front of the large flat screen TV, and was high enough for us to see out the window onto the green and river below. The bathroom, kitted out with all the mini-bath soaps, shampoos, shower gel etc was pristine, and hanging on the back of the door were two bathrobes for us to use. The scenery from the room over the balcony was breathtaking; yards of beautiful green, with a small waterfall and river slowly running along nearby. We also used the spa area in the morning which was excellent It included various relaxation rooms such as sauna, steam room etc, as well as a pool with waterjets, and a glorious outdoor hot tub. You could say that I very much enjoyed my stay at Galgorm Manor, and would love to return!

Yelp
Great food in Ballymena. Bang Bang Chicken for starter then a full rack of ribs for main course. Lovely. Didn't have to wait long and service with a smile. Great service, food and not too expensive for what we ordered. Lovely

Qype User (mmccru…)

Yelp
The only good thing galgorm manor has going for it is the lovely peaceful setting. The hotel is very overpriced and needs to realise that it is situated just outside ballymena not in london. The spa is really good but the food in the hotel was really terrible mcdonalds would have been better.

Qype User (fkfion…)

Yelp
Delightfuly situated in rolling countryside, I was disappointed as i found staff to be unhelpful and hurried. The menu promised much but deliverd little on the plate, and was quite cool (sent back to be heated!!). Leisure facilities acceptable, the most impressive, warm and welcoming attatchment was gillies bar on the grounds, 10 out of 10 for gillies!!! 1 out of 5 for galgorm manor.

Qype User (Geordi…)

Yelp
Posh, snooty and over priced! The Spa is amazing though - but far too expensive!! Great grounds and Gillies is brilliant! Lovely atmosphere and good food - way better than snooty and vastly over rated Galgorm Manor Hotel - has delusions of grandeur the restaurant just can't live up to! Friend of mine booked to come and stay during the refurbishment and they waited til the day before he arrived to tell him there was no room for him and had to book in at Leighinmohr himself - staff said they couldn't help him - not impressed!!

Qype User (Miriam…)

Yelp
This is our dream escape. We have been there 3 times last month because I just could not live without it. We just love it all there,...both restaurants, Junior suite, spa...Recomended!!!
