Great Chilean food. We were lucky to have a table right away. Corn Pie and mixed Seafood Soup are must try dishes.

Brenda Belli

Google
Great authentic Chilean food. I had the “porotos granados” and they were excellent. My friend had “lomo a lo pobre” Service not bad but not the greatest either. Just got to be patient specially during lunch hour, as it gets pretty busy. Highly recommend it if you’re visiting Santiago.

Google
I was excited to try the Cadillac de congrio (Conger eel stew) and it did not disappoint! The eel was generous. The broth was fantastic. Super happy with their stew.

Google
Local introduced us to the Chilean food. Very good experience. The server showed us the food in photos. We ordered the seafood soup, it was really good. Have to praise our server, excellent services and even with language barrier, he can read our body language and gave us the best services. 👍🏻

Google
It was a bit of a mixed bag. We had two different meals and while the salmon was nearly perfection, the fried conger was dry on the inside and was covered in a massive amount of breading. The service was friendly and quick to wait on us, so besides the poor experience with the conger, the rest was good.

Google
We had one very cold night on our vacation in November and I wanted try Paila marina soup on this trip, turned out this is the perfect restaurant to get it. Outstanding service no problem with English amazing food. This was our 2nd trip to this restaurant expect large portions and good food.

Lukas Mohr

Google
Local food, where locals eat for reasonable prices. Menu is also in english and especially the meat dishes are recommended. Pisco Sour was also great.

Google
One of our best meals in this one month trip. Absolutely everything tasted fresh and delicious. One of the best ceviches we have had (the salmon). The fish was fresh tasting and flaky. The cazuela had a very generous piece of meat which was cooked perfectly. They have out door seating and the service was excellent.

Yelp
A tip led us here to where the locals like to eat and we quickly discovered why. The surrounding area is filled with nightlife restaurants and clubs, so we ate outside on the patio deck to soak up the atmosphere. For an appetizer, you can't miss with the cheese empanadas with shrimp. For dinner, wifey went with the beef tenderloin tips on potatoes and it was delicious. I went with the Milanesa de pollo queso or for the gringos speaking folks out there , fried chicken steak with cheese. It sat on a very tasty rice bed and I highly recommend trying it out. All portions were huge and you won't leave hungry for sure. We topped off dinner with the crepes with a small scoop of vanilla and chocolate. It was very chocolatey and maybe a bit beyond my taste, but had it put it down because, well, that is what I do.

Yelp
Nice restaurant that we stopped in for lunch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Our tour guide recommended this place. We ate outside and enjoyed the people watching and music of this neat neighborhood. We started with their empanadas. They were large and stuffed with sliced beef, onions, eggs, golden raisins, and olives. They were very good. I got the sliced beef and cheese sandwich and my wife the chicken broth and vegetables soup. Both were good and very hearty. The beers were cold. Service was a little spotty because of the crowds this afternoon so we had periods of wait for our food and beers.

Yelp
This was our favorite place in Santiago and was so good we went back a second time which we never usually do! They have numerous traditional Chilean dishes to try (loved the Sopapillas a fried pumpkin bread, the stews and a sweet corn casserole). The staff was very kind and accommodating with our baby sleeping in a stroller. Vibrant area to walk around especially at night.

Yelp
Great outdoor seating, fries, and people watching! Fabulous place in Bellavista to get some food and a beer. Super friendly service and awesome vibe.

Yelp
We had lunch in this unassuming wonderful restaurant. Our hotel had recommended it since we were going to be in barrio Bella Vista. We were not disappointed! When we arrived there were few people there by the time we left, we saw both inside and outside section full. The food is typical Chilean "comfort" food at VERY reasonable prices. We had Pastel de Choclo, a corn casserole and Paila Marina. Both were absolutely delicious. The sparkling wine and chardonnay were very good at 3..50 US per glass. Our waitress, Lucy was great! She was attentive, patient and so knowledgeable about the food. I highly reccomend this eatery both for the quality and the price.

Brenda H.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at my hotel because they offer traditional Chilean entrees. Several of the people in my large party ordered one of these traditional dishes and were put off by the unusual ingredients including sugar in the beef dish. I ordered one of the fish main courses instead with spicy mashed potatoes. It was a good choice. Beware of the beef and egg menu item with french fries. It looked like chunks of dog food on a bed of french fries. The Galindo light beer went down easy with an inexpensive price to match. They don't provide separate bills but were helpful in dividing up the bill when it was time to pay.

Yelp
Very local restaurant in a busy hip neighborhood. Very minor translation issues but we got past it quickly. The menus are printed in Spanish and English, making it easy to find the best things and know what we're ordering. Is it touristy? I did not think so. Our table seemed to be the only ones speaking English. My dining partner chose the "Pastel de choclo" which is a corn pie made with mashed corn (local Chilean corn which is slightly different than American corn), ground beef, onions, egg, chicken, black olives and raisins. It looked good and smelled good and it was quite filling. I chose the "Porotos con longaniza" which was a bean soup with mashed corn, pumpkin, basil and red pepper plus a pork sausage. Serious carb load here but it was extremely delicious and I could eat not even half. Tasty, spicy with flavor (not hot) and an interesting local specialty. Galindo has their own brewed beer and the Galindo Light is a pilsner lighter beer. Crisp and good for a warm day.

Yelp
Love this place! Food and ambience are both awesome. Lots of locals. After a strenuous hike at San Cristobal park, we decided to come here for dinner at the recommendation of our hotel concierge. The menu was pretty extensive. We ordered a few things to share. The highlight of the meal was the corn-meal stew baked into a bowl. That was the recommendation and we noticed alot of the locals also ordered the same dish. There was olives, meats, and some other ingredients baked into the dish, the spices used were very unique and added to the flavor. Service was quick and efficient, they also serve a great variety of wine and we go this local Chilean wine that was super tasty. It's one street over from the main tourist street tucked away in the street corner. Easy to find if you are looking the Galindo sign. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant where you can try local favorites. The wines here is superb and the staff is very helpful at making selections. Just tell them what you like and thats all they need to know. The food is very good. We tried a variety here. Pork shank, salad with lemon dressing, corn pie, and bean stew. All were very tasty. Also try a lemonada witg mint. Very refreshing.

Yelp
The best food and drink to be found in Santiago is at Galindo!!! This is what you will be saying after dinner Visiting from the United States and our tour guide said it was her favorite so we took her world for it and we were blown away. So much so went that the next night when we went somewhere else all we could do was compare it to Galindo and decided to go back again after we finished.

Frank M.

Yelp
After scouring Yelp and a few other online services I choose Galindo. A WINNER!! Great Food and Excellent, Knowledgeable Servers. Serving Traditional Chilean cuisine in a casual atmosphere where you are never rushed. I came for the Pastel de Choclo (a very traditional National Dish- Beef, Chicken, Boiled Eggs, Olives, Onions and Raisins with a Corn Meal covering) and was pleased that it more than lived up to its online accolades. Shepherd's pie with a Latin Twist. Yummmm. Glad I took waiters recommendation and started with Camarones al Ajillo Pil (Shrimp cooked in Garlic and Peppers) and a glass of a very nice Chilean Chardonnay. A wonderful meal. I have two more dinners in Santiago before heading back home. So many other recommended restaurants but think will have to return to have their specialty, Chilean Sea Bass (just plain old Sea Bass here!) as it just arrived today (very short season due to fishing limits). Great Traditional Chilean Food. Definitely worth a try, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat dinner in Barrio Bellavista. This place was packed at dinner and the menu looked good so we decided to come back and eat here. There was outdoor seating on the sidewalk but we chose to eat inside. We ordered the lomo a lo pobre (steak with fried egg on top) and a pastel de choclo and beers. The food was really tasty. The pastel de choclo was like a creamed corn casserole and it was amazing. The lomo also came with papas fritas. Lots of fried goodness and so amazing. The atmosphere was fun too. They were playing a soccer game on the TVs and one of the waiters was super into it, while working. We couldn't finish our food, so we got a to go box (which younger charged for). We were able to pay with credit card and split it on two cards. Really great place for dinner and to try typical Chilean dishes!

Nicole C.

Yelp
This restaurant in the heart of Bella Vista serves traditional Chilean dishes for reasonable prices considering the neighborhood. The customers were a mix of tourists and Chileans. We tried the: Pastel de Choclo - a hearty mix of sweet corn, ground beef, onion, and other veggies. This would have been delicious if it wasn't so sweet. I'm not sure if this was from the corn or if they added sugar, but I couldn't finish this because of how big the portion was and because of how sweet it got after a few bites. Paila Marina - I preferred this dish! It was jumbo sized bowl of seafood soup with lots of mussels, clams, squid, and large pieces of white fish. The soup was briny and very flavorful. Overall, a good and safe introduction to Chilean cuisine, but you could probably find better versions in more local neighborhoods!

Yelp
Chilean local food at it's best. That was exactly what we were looking for after many disappointments. Great portions of high quality food and super quick and friendly service. Outside seating is another plus! A must have!

Adam L.

Yelp
When visiting Santiago, a colleague recommended I go here as we were nearby at Patio Bellavista. The prices were too low to even be believed, so we immediately began questioning the quality... how good could the food be for these prices. The answer... phenomenal. We started out with empanadas and the spicy shrimp... they were both among the best we had in Chile. The main course was seafood... they were out of the seabass but the waiter (service was excellent) recommended the another fish that i cannot remember, but it didn't disappoint. All things considered, after spending a week there this was the highlight meal of my trip to Santiago, cannot recommend this place enough!

Meredith P.

Yelp
Nice spot to eat outdoors in the Bellavista area. Good for people watching and just hanging outside! The food was really good and they have lots of typical Chilean dishes. I had the garlic shrimp and the serving size was huge. Their salads were fresh and tasty. The popular Chilean egg dish served in the crock was excellent.

Abigail B.

Yelp
I was craving for some fresh seafood and I run into this place. It was delicious!! I order Congrio a lo pobre. It's a fried fish with fries, caramelized onions and 2 fried eggs ($6400) the other people in our table got really tiny dishes too.. Great place to eat some good Chilean food.. Great prices too.

Vicente C.

Yelp
Pretty good food, it's a good place for a first introduction to chilean cuisine for those less adventurous when it comes to trying new things. The service was good, although a bit too slow. If you've heard Chilean food is boring and you want to make your own mind about it, you should not take Galindo as the only opinion; while the food is good, it's not the most interesting way of getting to know some of the typical chilean dishes. Overall, a very good alternative to going to the central market or Tirso de Molina for your tradition fix.

Paulina L.

Yelp
Empanada the size of my face! Stopped here on my way to San Cristobal. A hot coffee and empanada were just what I needed after landing in Santiago that morning. The empanadas was more than enough and kept me full till dinner! Great food and value.

Stacey G.

Yelp
After reading mixed reviews we should have known better.. what once must have been a great place for local tastes is now just a tourist trap. The food was bland and underwhelming. They were out of water and humitas the night we visited... very strange, but ok.. we went to pastel de chocolo the traditional and a bean dish.. both were bad.. the pastel was like eating wall paper paste.. same with the beans.. overall a very sad and disappointing meal..

Lauren M.

Yelp
I was excited about this place, but it disappointed me. The cazuela de ave was just so badly prepared. I was literally served a large piece of chicken in a bowl of BOILING WATER. I joke you not. How a cook forgets to make a soup using broth instead of boiling water is beyond me. My husband'c chuleta and fries at least looked a bit more appetizing. The next day I had a delicious cazuela at La Vega for a fraction of the price. Galindo has some nice decor and it's getting high reviews because of the gringos thinking they are having a traditional Chilean dining experience, but now you have been warned.

Tara S.

Yelp
My husband and I are staying at a hotel nearby, and this place was highly recommended. The first time that we ate here, the service was absolutely fantastic. The food was also very delicious, and we enjoyed the complimentary bread and salsa. I would actually give this place a five out of five, had it not been for the very poor service that we received today. We had an older male server who was definitely was not interested in working. I also speak Spanish, so it was not that there was an issue with a language barrier. I was able to clearly articulate what we wanted, and I thought that he was very terse and definitely not helpful. We also did not receive the bread this time. Again, I do enjoy the food, and tried something different both times. I would definitely make sure that we sat in the section with the friendly female servers, as they seem to be more willing to work. When it came time to pay, unlike the last time where the server brought over the credit card machine, I have actually had to go up to the front to pay as the server was not helpful yet again... Again, would recommend for the food, but not for this server.

Chandra C.

Yelp
Popular local spot. Fair food with large portions. Tourist come here especially for pastel chocio. I tried it and it tasted like sweet corn and beef pudding.

Jeremy E.

Yelp
We stumbled into this place by chance. Well, it was packed so we waited for a table while suspecting it would be good. It didn't take long to get a table. We immediately noticed the surprisingly extensive beer menu including 6 craft and international beers on tap and at least 30 more artisan beers in bottles. The easier steered me to have a "schop" which roughly translates to mug. Basically he held me her a larger draft beer for the price of a bottle. The food is tasty and when it says spicy they mean it. I recommend the spicy pure (pureed parties) and spicy pork. They have all the hearty dishes you could ask for. Atmosphere includes a mixed crowd from working class to traveler. Not a place to be missed.

Katerina W.

Yelp
Traditional Chilean style restaurant right next to Patio Bellavista. Ideal for tourist who want to try a fun atmosphere and good chilean cuisine. This restaurant/bar is great if you want to escape the chaos of Pio Nono but still enjoy a fun, piola night out. Galindo is ALWAYS popping and it's a fun spot to have a full dinner or to just enjoy a few drinks. I love their decor lots of red and white colors fill the room, a very Chilean theme. They have casuela, chorrillana, empanada, consume and lots lots more. Thier menu is a bit expensive however very good. They also serve artisanal beers and have a full bar. They have lots of space to sit and enjoy yourself inside, or you can enjoy yourself on their patio. In the winter time they have heaters outside so you're nice and toasty!

Ali G.

Yelp
Pastel de choclo (clay pot of mashed corn/ground beef/egg/chicken/olives/raisins!) + carmenere + sidewalk ambience and strolling musicians= happy happy gal who, for the moment, feels as if she is Chilean though the tastes sights and sounds of Barrio Bellavista on a Saturday night! Skip the familiar and trust their specialty plates... Great service too. 2 entrees and a nice bottle of wine for less than $30.

Penguin S.

Yelp
5 of us ate here and each meal was fantastic! I had the beef and melted cheese sandwich (sorry, I don't know the names from the menu). I thought the menu meant all sandwiches come with a side, such as fries, but they mean such as tomato or avocado. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the cheese melty. I loved the fresh bread and how it was grilled slightly. The steak and fries were great. The fried fish with spicy mashed potatoes was excellent. The clay pot with chicken and veggies was phenomenal. The chicken and rice dish was superior. They serve bread with butter and pico, which we had seconds of. Service was good. It was the only restaurant in view that was packed, both inside and out. I would LOVE to eat here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting good local food. The prices were very reasonable and the value was definitely there. Just sit near the counter and watch all the wonderful food coming out of the kitchen! Extensive menu means I'll need to go back often to make the rounds of all they offer.

Jeirlynn J.

Yelp
Didn't really like the food. My chicken was really dry and not worth the money. My fiancé literally took his food to go so he could fix it at home. Not good and wouldn't return.

Royce F.

Yelp
The bean soup (porotos) is good during the winter. Cheapish good beer with an above average selection. I was told from a friend who went to law school in Bellavista that this was a spot they frequented after class for a good value on food and beers. I think it must be listed in the Lonely Planet as there are consistently quite a few backpackers and usually a bit of a wait before they can squeeze you into a table (from experience a two top in the corner). If you are staying near Bellavista and want a good consistent and good value Chilean meal, come here and don't consider the Patio's options.

Tito N.

Yelp
One of the best places prize-quality I´ve found by mistake. It is a more real restaurant of classic chilean food. I would recommend it all the way for any type of person. But still fancy people sometimes do not like it. On my side I love it everyday I go.

Jessica F.

Yelp
Corner restaurant, dined with 2 friends on a Saturday night in Bellavista. Local musicians stopped by frequently for live entertainment which was awesome (gotta tip if they're good!). Got traditional Chilean dishes- one fish, one w corn and meat, and a bean soup with sausage. All very good with big portions. Unfortunately can't rate this place a 5 because our server was not very friendly, clearly did not want to be there.

Mark N.

Yelp
Shortly after we checked into our nearby hotel, we asked for a recommendation for a place to have lunch, and prefer to avoid the typical tourist spots and join the locals. This place fits the bill. We had been told to try pastel de cholco, and so glad we did. I'm going to attempt to make this dish at home for a winter comfort food. That plus some ceviche, and four pisco sours and we knew we were going to enjoy our visit to Santiago. If you are looking for fancy....go elsewhere. Good local food....this is the place! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294305-d803343-r468898156-Galindo-Santiago_Santiago_Metropolitan_Region.html#

Mark M.

Yelp
I was going to go to Peumayen down the street but the guide took us here. It was OK but I wouldn't go again.

Cindi B.

Yelp
After a long day of walking and a solid week in Santiago filled with mediocre food, I had my eye on Galindo, which was recommended for it's tasty Chilean menu. Upon arrival, the restaurant was hopping; but, we were seated after just a few minutes. After ordering, we were treated to some rolls, a few pats of butter, and pebre (a pico de gallo-like salsa). The rolls were fresh, but somewhat bland (perhaps a traditional style?). I ordered a cazuela da vacuna--hot beef broth with a tender piece of beef, potato, squash/pumpkin, chunk of corn, green beans, rice, cilantro and other herbs. Despite the corn being not yet ripe, or overcooked, the soup was delicious, filling, and warming. The other meal ordered was a steak with fries and two fried eggs on top (I forget the exact menu name...Lomo, perhaps?). The steak was fatty and nearly impossible to cut. Fries and eggs were just fine. There are several menu items I'd like to return to try and I consider Galindo a popular, solid option for those in the area. Service was friendly and surprisingly fast for as busy as they were.

Peter L.

Yelp
Very good ale and a very good local food favorite. I had a plate of French fries topped with grilled onions and scrambled eggs and grilled beef cubes.

Crystal M.

Yelp
There are tons of restaurants in the area, but Galindo is a great spot if you want to try typical Chilean dishes in Bellavista. If you're not too sure what to try, start off with some Machas a la Parmesana and go for the Pastel de Choclo, Carne Mechada, Arrollado or something "a lo pobre" - all traditional dishes that are made well here.

Alex D.

Yelp
Join artists and the young crowd of Bellavista for traditional Chilean food in an old adobe house. This restaurant goes back 60 years when it started life as a canteen for local workmen, and although it gets crowded, it's a great place to try pastel de choclo or a hearty cazuela, a typical meat and vegetable soup that is a meal in itself. Good for lunchtime experience, don't be put off by the plastic tables and chairs on the street.

Collin W.

Yelp
the food was amazing and i would definently go back there and eat. Their empenadas were so good and i loved their coffee and it was so watermelon (slang for fantastic).

Jennifer H.

Yelp
This place gets super busy so be prepared for a line. It is cheap Chilean food that tastes great so even though it can get a bit touristy it is worth the food. The service is just meh, but I think that may be the case at most restaurants in Santiago. I would recommend the corn dish - pastel de choclo! Delicious! It's a huge serving too.

Sergey S.

Yelp
Good place for drink beer. Carpaccio of salmon is not salmon, actually. It's fish from river with orang color

Hb W.

Yelp
Ate here twice during our stay in Santiago. Nothing fancy, but solid and tasty Chilean food. Fish soup(enough to be shared by 2 people) was delicious. All meat dishes were quite good. The smoked pork dish was especially flavorful. It was an good introduction to Chilean food for all of us. Depending on the time of the day, it can get to be quite crowded.

Gus R.

Yelp
Excellent, traditional fare in a great location. The empanadas were amazing. Highly recommend this place for great chilean food!

Matt M.

Yelp
Not very very impressed with the enormous deep fried congrio served on a mountain of less than mediocre fries, or the pork tenderloin, nothing too tasty, uninspired. Perhaps we tried the wrong dishes?

Damon D.

Yelp
Visiting Santiago from a 17 day cruise and ate at Galindos today for traditional Chilean food. Excellent. We tried the empanadas and the traditional corn pie/soufflé. Very very good with a Krolls cold beer. Had an English speaking waiter to help us along. Great food and great local atmosphere. Got there before the line at 12:45-1 on a Sunday and 10 mins later there was a 20 minute wait... For a reason. Worth going and enjoy !
