Everything about my experience was just lovely :) the hostel was super clean and nicely decorated (it is literally a “gallery”). The area felt safe as a solo female traveler, and it was just a 10-15 minute walk to downtown. There was also a nice selection of restaurants within the immediate vicinity of the hostel, including multiple vegetarian/vegan options. Good ac, good wifi. My room had a balcony which I didn’t even realize when I booked. The staff were friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was tasty and had a wide variety of options (including pasteis de nata), and if you asked the day before they would even pack you a breakfast box for the next morning (like if you needed to leave earlier than breakfast opened). I would absolutely recommend this hostel to anyone considering it, and if I ever find myself back in Porto I will probably book it again :)

From the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant team, everyone is professional, attentive, and genuinely committed to making your stay enjoyable. Gallery Hostel Porto redefines what a hostel can be. It combines the charm of a boutique hotel with the social atmosphere of a hostel. I would honestly return to Porto just to stay here again. Highly recommended to solo travelers, couples, and anyone seeking quality accommodation with heart and style.

One of the cleanest hostels I've ever stayed at! Great for solo travelers that are not into party hostels. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and spacious bathrooms/shower. The restaurant downstairs serves good food and a wide selection of drinks at the bar. Shout-out to our bartender Joy, great service all night and fun to chat with! Also the female staff at check - in was friendly and helpful in answering any questions I had. Definitely grab a few drinks at the bar and if you have any questions about Porto, Joy is a reliable resource!

Loved my stay there. The room are spacious and very clean. They make your bed everyday. You are also given a towel. The locker is big and spacious (It’s located where the bathrooms are). The breakfast is lovely. They also have a lovely terrace where you can hang out.

Hands down the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! The architecture of the hostel is nice and it’s super well decorated. I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm and the beds were super comfy, cute little entryway to hang coats and leave shoes, en-suite bathrooms (2 toilets, 2 sinks, and two showers) are great, hairdryer in the bathroom, lockers are a good size and digital so no need for a padlock. They clean the room everyday and provide fresh towels if needed. Breakfast included in the reservation when booked directly with them. Did not disappoint! Very varied and delicious. They even have a coffee machine for different types of drinks. The hostel’s restaurant is also amazing! Very delicious food! The entire team at Gallery Hostel were super friendly and helpful! Very client minded and have good recommendations for places to visit in the city. Huge shoutout to everyone! Thank you for making our stay amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone going to Porto. It is also very well located and easy to move around.

Terrible customer service in this hotel. Our room had a faulty air conditioning unit that was making loud noises throughout the night preventing us from getting any sleep. We highlighted this to reception the next morning for their maintenance team to fix it. When we got back to the room later on the problem was still there, problem not resolved. We again went to reception but the evening reception staff were not aware of the problem - no communication. We obviously could not stay in that room and have another night without sleep. One of the staff at reception said he has seen this problem before and its a problem with a water pump in the unit? No offer of a refund for our one night stay and no offer of a taxi to our new accommodation (which I booked myself). Terrible experience in this hotel.

Good location, clean quiet women's dorm, lots of international travellers. Excellent breakfast and decent kitchen available to cook your own food. Unfortunately two men who work their were rude one evening in March, so I opted not to stay for the time I had booked and paid for from 10-22 April. The property received my 400+ euros for the upcoming stay on March 21. The manager refused to refund me and said official cancellation needed to be confirmed via Hostelworld, which I did online and was provided with a confirmation number. Still the manager would not refund me even though they were fully booked for the spring break holidays and could easily resell my space in the women's dorm. || I showed up on 10 April saying that I would either stay there against my wishes or receive a refund. The manager refunded my card which took several more days to process. He, and other front desk personnel, were not hospitable. I asked for the name of the manager's supervisor at the beginning of the refund problem and was told the owner wishes to remain anonymous. Previously other workers had said that a Taiwanese man owns the property but does not like to be known. However this is hearsay, I don't know who the owner is. To this owner I feel obligated to report the rude behavior or two men who work in the bar and restaurant, and despite leaving tips and treating people with kindness, rude behavior also from a woman who tended the bar. She was surely and seemed to dislike her job immensely. This coupled with the mismanagement of my refund that took hours over two weeks to rectify could have been avoided altogether made me want to leave and never return.|| There are 1000s of accomodations in Porto and neighboring towns, and most of the people that I have met in Porto are kind and helpful. If a person lacks empathy, lacks a kind nature, has zero simpatico, why would that person work in the hospitality industry? I have enjoy great experiences at other hostels and hotels. Suffice it to say, I would not stay in Gallery Hostel again or recommend it to any friends or family members.

This was an excellent stay. Everyone that we encountered that worked there was fabulous, polite, very helpful. Joy was excellent at the bar. Best bar tender in Porto! Very helpful with providing tips and answering silly questions about Porto!

Wow! This is the best hostel I have stayed in EVER across Europe,Australia & Asia. Amazing facilities, friendly helpful staff & a really lovely homely atmosphere. Beautiful old building, art gallery, movie room, comfy beds, clean bathrooms, large dorms, personal lights & power plugs , balconies the list goes on. Every night they have 3 course dinners cooked in house by the staff for €10 with wine. This food is really really good & a great way to meet fellow travellers. I could go on & on about this hostel, beds in dorms start at around 20€ a night just give it a visit!!

Splendid hostel, it is one of those places that doesn't look like much from the outside but once you cross the threshold this wonderful hostel opens up right before your eyes. Lovely staff, the main office is right next to the front door and also has a supply of tourist information for the city and region. Everyone I saw check in, along with myself when I arrived, was given a tour of the place, much like an orientation. There is a lovely grand wooden staircase going up the centre of the building towards the different floors. The room itself was one of the biggest hostel rooms I have stayed in and did not have bunks packed into every spare space but instead had a lovely open feel about it. There are the all important power plugs with each bed and a balcony too. The bathrooms were clean and the hot water wonderful. There was a small bar area and a movie room just beyond the bar where they had a large TV set to one wall and some comfy couches to relax in, some board games, a chess set and some books if you were after a quiet read. They had a couple of desktop computers in another room along with some travel related books in there as well and towards the back was the breakfast room where they also served a group meal that you had to sign up for in the morning. Location wise it is within a short walking distance of city centre and not much further to the river.

Can I give more stars than 5?? The hostel is incredible. Thanks to the wonderful staff for their help while I was there.
