Gallery Hotel Art (Florence, Tuscany) 22 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Don't be put off by the concrete exterior, which unlike most Florentine buildings is contemporary, and of no architectural distinction. It's the stuff inside this Salvatore Ferragamo hotel that's the key. High couture meets maximum efficiency. Art meets the commercial world of the hospitality industry. Occidental and Oriental schools of minimalism collide. And if this sounds a little familiar, remember this isn't London, it's Florence, where boutique hotels are virtually nonexistent. Situated as it is in a tiny alleyway off the Lungarno Acciaioli, the Gallery Hotel Art, despite its unbelievably central location, is strangely quiet. Colors are quiet, too — white, beige, buttermilk, brown and light gray, with the occasional touch of turquoise glass. But it's not just peaceful. It's practical and conceptual too. In architect Michele Bonan's spaces, art, culture, and public function coexist. The lobby, which doubles as a exhibition space for contemporary art, is for both check-in and contemplation. It is not, however, a lobby for lounging. The benches here are the museum variety -- for scrutinizing artworks, buddy, not for resting your tired tourist feet. Resting is achieved more efficiently in the lounge/library, with its parquet floor and taupe velvet sofas. But though it's cozy here, there are 400 books—everything from cinema histories to Victorian novels—with which to engage your mind. The only real place to let loose is at the Fusion bar, where you can help yourself to sushi with the pretty Florentine clientele. Bedrooms are cheerful, spare, efficient, and on the small side — apparently public spaces at this hotel have prerogative over the private. On the top floor, the new 701 Rooftop Bar, created from the transformation of Suite 701, offers a breathtaking view of Florence and its masterpieces, to admire from one of its two panoramic terraces. In the end, ironically, the most beautiful thing about this designer space is what lies outside of it. And though the hotel advertises itself for people in search of the atypical Florence experience (“Michelangelo can wait,” says its brochure), the city is too enthralling to make you want to linger long within unconventional hotel walls. Fortunately, since you're a minute away from the Ponte Vecchio, the best of this medieval city is just on your doorstep." - Tablet Hotels

Everything was wonderful for our first trip to Italy! The bell staff, front desk staff, servers at breakfast...everyone was top notch friendly and helpful. We were there five nights and met a lot of people, so we were very impressed by the consistency of the staff. The breakfast was beautiful and delicious. The location was fantastic. It was in the heart of lots of tourist attractions and was walkable to everything (although we took a cab to the train station).

We spent 4 nights at Gallery Hotel Art and thoroughly enjoyed it! The central location - a block away from the Ponte Vecchio - meant that most of the cultural attractions in Florence were a 10-mnute walk or less, which made it highly convenient. The A/C was still on, which was good. Some hotels we stayed in had already turned off their A/C in October, which made the rooms stuffy, despite the cool temperatures outside. The breakfasts were great, lots of choices. And the staff, all fluent English speakers, were friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again!

We absolutely loved this hotel! We booked a Gallery Prestige room and ended up on the top floor with a view of the Duomo. We were not expecting that and were pleasantly surprised. The room was very snug with some awkward elements - the cabinets prevented us from being able to open the mini fridge, the bathroom lighting was dark, the screen on the shower was a bit small, etc. Seems to be typical for hotel rooms in Europe! |The hotel really stood out to us because of the location and the service. The location couldn't be better, right near all major tourist attractions, but tucked away on a side street that isn't as crowded. It was nice being able to pop back into our hotel room throughout the day because we were always close by. The hotel staff was so nice and helpful and housekeeping was AMAZING. They cleaned our room promptly everyday and included nightly turn down service. Such a nice touch! The breakfast buffet was also nice and had just what we needed.

Location is everything in Florence, and this hotel could not be better situated. A Hidden Gem! Just steps from the Ponte Vecchio and within easy walking distance of museums, restaurants, and charming boutiques, it offers the perfect base for exploring the city.||While the rooms aren’t large, they are thoughtfully appointed and very comfortable — a cozy retreat after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast is a delight, with fresh ingredients, delicious savory options, and an irresistible array of pastries and sweets.||The staff deserves special mention: helpful, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, they made the stay even more enjoyable.||A wonderful choice for travelers who want comfort, charm, and the best of Florence right outside their door.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while we were on our honeymoon and we wish we stayed longer. This hotel is awesome. Fantastic service, the room was very clean, and the location is right near Ponte Vecchio! The views from our room were gorgeous. We absolutely loved it here and if we came back to Florence we would stay here again.

Google
We had a wonderful three-night stay here for our 10th wedding anniversary - one of the coolest hotels in possibly the best location in Florence. A beautiful room, excellent lounge and stunning rooftop bar, good breakfast, but the main recommendation would have to be for the staff, who all went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Special shout-out to Michael on the door - always great to see him, and we'll definitely be back!

Everything was perfect. Great location, super friendly staff and a good sized room. The little touches were what made it. Biscuits and a welcome card and then a lovely little gift and card when we left. It was a belated honeymoon for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.....and no problems when I ordered extra tea bags for our room!

Yelp
We stayed here on an extended family trip to Europe while in Florence for three days. This is a very nice place and the location is PERFECT for exploring this incredibly gorgeous city. I highly recommend this hotel as it's very welcoming and the staff are outstanding and love being helpful. I'd say if there was ANY drawback the breakfast was a continental one with really no hot offerings, but still it was very tasty. All the other hotels we stayed in throughout or trip (other than one in Dublin that had nothing at all - not even coffee) had beautiful breakfast with a lot of different, hot and cold, things to choose from. Still, it was great and again, the location is ideal. You'll love it.

Yelp
Wonderfully offbeat hotel steps from the Ponte Veccio and all the best Florence has to offer. Terrific staff, and if you're blessed, they might give you the room with the view of the Duomo. There may only be one. It's palatial, beautifully appointed, and surprisingly quiet. The manicurist at their associated spa helped me with a complicated manicure fix, and the laundry service is impeccable. Even the gratis breakfast we had the last day was beautifully set. I wish I were there right now!

Yelp
A disappointment. I have stayed at this hotel many times since it first opened in 1997, and have always thought it to be first rate. Not so, this time. It took three tries to get a key card that would open the door to our room. it took my husband over an hour to get Internet service; I never did manage to get it. The once pristine rooms are looking a little frayed around the corners. One expects more when you pay 450 Euros a night.

Yelp
Based on our internet research, we chose to stay at this hotel for 3 nights based on the location and the modern, clean decor. When we arrived, we were thrilled to see that the photos on the internet do not do this property justice. Spectacular hotel. The location really is fantastic and we would absolutely recommend this hotel. Truly central, quiet and in a wonderful part of Florence. We've stayed at many fabulous properties and the service at this boutique hotel ranks at the top with the best of them. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us in every way - the front desk staff was warm and friendly from the first moment, allowed early check in, researched various options for our day trip and arranged the rental car that was brought to the hotel and picked up at the end of our use (a huge convenience when unfamiliar and uncomfortable about driving in the middle of the chaotic Italian city driving). Because of the location of the hotel, we simply drove over the bridge to the other side of the river and we were off to the small towns of Tuscany. When we asked about their recommendation on our first day for a quick lunch, the doorman walked us to the restaurant. The breakfast was visually appealing and tasty, in the chic and warm library. Perfectly flaky croissants and a wide variety of interesting warm and cold breakfast choices, including honey presented in the honeycomb. The breakfast staff was professional and exceptionally attentive - for instance, when one of my daughters went up to the room not feeling well, the staff assembled an assortment of breakfast items beautifully and offered to take it to her in the room. Loved the quality materials, finishings and details in the hotel. The heated towel rack, fluffy towels and robes, the great closet and sleek armoire with all the organized space made our stay even more enjoyable. The only suggestion I have for the hotel is that the cleaning staff communicate to the management if something needs repair. In our two rooms (310 & 311), the tub drains didn't work properly and took forever to drain. In the triple room, it was less of a big deal since there was a separate shower, but in the twin room that had the combination shower tub, it wasn't pleasant standing in the dirty soapy water waiting. We didn't complain because we were there for three nights and didn't want to be inconvenienced with repair work or moving to a different room. Overall, I still rate it 5 stars because everything else was outstanding and we would stay here again. We checked out their other two sister properties and although they were beautiful, we like this hotel better. The Hotel Continental across the courtyard has a rooftop bar overlooking the Arno River and the Lungarno Hotel has a beautiful patio restaurant with gorgeous views of the Arno River, but we liked the modern style of this hotel better. Guests can choose to eat breakfast at the Lungarno Hotel instead (for a nominal supplemental charge). We chose to skip that option bc our hotel offered plenty of options in their breakfast and the convenience factor. Perhaps if our stay was longer, we would have tried it for variety and to eat outside next to the river. The other two hotels were beautiful but a little stuffier and more traditional in my opinion based upon a quick visit of those two hotels.

Yelp
I loved this hotel. I happened to be there during an amazing lightning storm and opened the door from my patio to watch it throughout the night...then in the morning the bells of Florence woke me up! Pretty perfect in my opinion. It has an amazing location, right across from the ponte vecchio and centrally located to everything you may want to visit. Breakfast was also great!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Gallery Art Hotel. It is perfectly located only blocks away from the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. The rooms are very modern and the staff very friendly. They have a morning breakfast dinning room which was convenient. I would take an early morning run with my camera to get some great photos of the river. And later drop in at one of the nearby Italian Espresso counters for a morning shot. During the evenings, there is a rooftop bar at the Hotel Continentale which is part of the same hotel group. The views from the bar are spectacular.

Yelp
Dirty, small, outdated & not at all worth the price. This applies to all the Lungarno properties in Florence but especially this hotel!. The Website pictures are a complete fraud compared to how the property really looks. This is NOT a 4 star hotel.

Yelp
5 stars for this great hotel, which has very large, modern rooms by any standard (let alone European standard) and is ideally located in Florence. In the best area, it is only an 8 EUR taxi (or 20 minute walk) from the main train station and makes a great base for exploring the city. I've stayed in many hotels, and this is one of the best and most comfortable, especially given the reasonable price point for what you get (we paid a little over $200 on Kayak). The breakfast buffet spread is also one of the best that I've seen in Europe - Italian style with the meats and cheeses - but also with some American style options like eggs, potatoes, cereal and yogurt. We only stayed one night while passing through Florence, but I would have loved to stay here a longer.

Yelp
We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and it was a wonderful hotel. We were helped by the nicest woman in the front who initially showed us to a room on the first floor above the restaurant. We had asked for a room away from the restaurant to avoid noise for our baby. So she patiently showed us a couple more available rooms. We ended up in the perfect room towards the back with less noise. The location of this hotel is in a hidden little street right next to the Ponte Vecchio. We absolutely loved the location and the hotel was nice and peaceful. Everyone during the stay was extremely helpful. There was a taxi strike on the day we left and there was a man who was quite hurried and short with us and another guest about getting a taxi. He kept telling us to walk even though we had a lot of luggage and a baby. I was told by a friend after that there was a taxi stand nearby that we could have used as taxis were still working, they were just not picking up the phones. The lady that was helping us was trying to get us into a large taxi and he was herding the other guests. When they discussed, he basically said, he did not care that we needed to get to the train station first, that a guest is a guest to him and so it made no difference who took the taxi even though we were at the desk first and had a train earlier than the other guest. We were happy to offer to share with the other guests after the man left. Needless to say, this interaction kind of marred our otherwise positive experience. There is never any reason to be rude to guests.

Yelp
I stayed at the Gallery Hotel Art earlier this month for two night and was extremely pleased with our stay. While planning our trip to Florence, we booked the hotel on Tablet.com so we got a great deal as this is typically a pricey hotel. Thanks to Tablet, we payed a fraction of the actual rate! The Gallery Hotel Art is extremely well situated just steps from the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is so well-situated in fact, that it's a nightmare to get to in a car. My friend and I drove from Geneva to Florence and it took us over an hour to navigate the narrow one-way streets. In the end, we couldn't find our way and one of the hotel's valet people had to find our car and navigate for us. Speaking of the staff, most of them speak English (which didn't allow me to practice my Italian as much as I should have), and are very helpful and eager to please. The hotel offers free WiFi and parking was only $30 euros a night. I would, without the smidgen of doubt, stay at the Gallery Hotel Art again. The room was exceptionally clean, beautiful and cozy. I did not want to leave Florence or the Gallery Hotel Art and can only hope to visit again.

Yelp
We stayed here for three nights on a romantic vacation to Florence. The hotel was was in an absolutely perfect location, short walk to the Uffizi; Point Vecchio and the Duomo. The hotel itself was very quiet and calm. The rooms were modern, spacious, and clean. But the best part of the stay was the staff. Many times they gave us excellent recommendations for directions, places to eat, and places to visit. On one day many of the streets were closed for an event by the city, and they reached out to us twice to make sure that this didn't affect our stay and help us come up with an alternative route to pick up a rental car. That went far and above beyond my expectations. Breakfast was OK, I would've liked to have some fresh fruit, But the coffee was very good and the selection of pastries was excellent.

Yelp
Excellent service. The rooms are very nice. You cannot beat the location. We loved it.

Yelp
This place is perfect. You are literally a block from Ponte Vecchio and minutes from all the attractions (ie Duomo, Statue of David, etc). The hotel gave us a amazing room with a patio looking at the Duomo and a bottle of champagne! The staff was so kind! Definitely recommend if in Florence. Decent prices as well!
