Beautiful space with elegantly curated exhibits and thought provoking and educational messaging. The gallery of extinct and endangered species was a favorite for the kids, with some incredibly old and rare specimens, some of which have been extinct for centuries. (The dodos pictured are a reconstruction…) Pro tip: Buy tickets online in advance. We had to wait at the gate till the next block was released by the ticket office and then we were able to buy them online. They seem to be readily available a day or two in advance.

This is owning the best natural history museums I’ve been to! A very well thought out layout and very big so it never feels crowded. A really cool selection of animals, even a specific room of extinct and endangered animals. We went during the Desert exhibition which is definitely worth the extra €3!

Really the most disappointing museum I have visited in . Yes there is a nice light show …BUT the light show doesn’t make the information easy to read, there is no English translation and even though I speak good French, I found it from a technical info difficult to understand. No is there any audio or specific route you should follow. Asked for information then found out later these a large garden ( free) and multiple natural museum in other buildings next door . Not sure if they’re even included in the price that I paid. Really surprising that there is no English translation or audio guide at a museum of this level when smaller museums have audio guides available. Further I also came here to buy some specific posters that my friend had got from the store but it’s been closed indefinitely for over a year with no sign of opening in the future. Visited the dessert exhibition which in my mind was a lot better- English translation and an interesting small exhibit.

Totally underwhelming experience. The gallery is absolutely beautiful and you can feel like Indiana Jones, but: - no route or suggested order of visiting resulting in chaos and people walking in circles - no English translation i.e. you will not read anything in the gallery - no cloakroom available and lockers require 1€ coin (in 2025?) - overwhelming number of kids running and shouting - impossible to purchase separate entry for temporary exhibition, so either you buy another whole ticket+ again or you just can’t see it

This is the COOLEST NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM. I have been to many natural history museums on my travels and have a cell biology PhD, so I'm quite picky about them. I CRIED here with joy. What a monument to life itself!!

This is a great museum. Clean, organized, spacious and with attention to details. The videos are nice, the lights give a cool atmosphere to the place, and the building itself is beautiful. For families visiting Paris, this is a must-see!!! The gift shop is quite nice, too.

The Gallery of Evolution was a very pleasant surprise during our visit to the Jardin des Plantes. It’s a stunning space, thoughtfully curated, and offers a great mix of visual impact and educational value, perfect for kids and adults alike. We had a great time exploring with the little ones. There’s a decent amount of information available in English, although visitors who speak French will definitely get a bit more detail from the exhibits. Unfortunately, the experience at the bar inside the venue wasn’t as positive. I ordered a fruit salad among other snacks, but it tasted sour. I politely mentioned it to the staff, hoping it would be received as helpful feedback and potentially getting a replacement. Instead, the response was overly defensive. They insisted it had been made that same day and dismissed my comment altogether. I didn’t push it, just left the fruit salad on the tray and returned to enjoy the rest of the snacks with my kids. Overall, the museum itself is absolutely worth a visit, especially with children. Just don’t expect much from the café service.

Excellent immersive scenography—sound and lighting act like an “invisible guide,” shaping flow and focus. Specimens are lifelike with top-notch build and display quality; information is well layered. Vertical stratification—birds overhead, mammals at eye level, seafloor/ground life below—nicely shows how height maps to different habitats. Minor drawback: labels are mostly in French; international visitors can use ChatGPT for quick understanding.

Yelp
This huge and beautiful 19th-century building houses the grand gallery of evolution, which is home to more than 7,000 preserved species. It's four floors and has a ton to look at. Everything is in French, so I couldn't read a thing, but that still didn't stop me from marveling at everything (including the changing lights and sounds). I probably spent an hour going through here on my own, but I imagine if my child were with me, it would've been longer (and I hope to return to Paris with him one day and bring him here).

Yelp
I really liked the architecture inside the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution. The digital ceiling display is pretty cool. It changes every 15 mins and it imitates the weather. The interesting one is the thunderstorm, B actually thought it was raining outside. I can see this place being comparable to our Beaty Museum at UBC in Vancouver Canada. Very similar but there are much more things to see here. The animals are neatly organized by types (not really by location). They do have descriptions/info board but they are all in French. Also they have videos that you can watch and again that is all in French as well. I am guessing this place is not really tailored to tourists or they don't get a lot of tourists visiting so they don't have an English version. I would say you need about 2 - 3 hours to spare if you want to check out this gallery. Admission to get in is super cheap for what you get to see. Admission is €14 per adult. Not bad.
