This place completely exceeded my expectations. I had the Fisherman Platter, and it was fantastic. Everything was cooked just right, and the seafood was so fresh it practically melted in my mouth. Our server was wonderful: friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful with the menu. Her positive attitude made our meal even better. Honestly, I’m so glad I stumbled across this restaurant on my way back from vacation. It really feels like a hidden gem.

Atmosphere here was so good. Not too crowded, clean restaurant. The foods were delicious, specially the stuffed lobster was soooo good! The waiter was super friendly and proactive in serving. Also, parking was easy. I’m so glad that we checked this place while visiting Hampton beach. The only minor thing was with the optional sides (there are 6/7 options). We chose fries and onion rings, which were good but the rings were a bit soft not crunchy.

This was a surprise for us to find for lunch. It was quite pleasant. The staff here were very friendly and professional. There was a large dedicated parking lot right outside. The food was delicious. The interior of the restaurant was nice but we chose to eat outside because of how nice it was. I was happy to not see any bugs bothering us while we ate. I am looking forward to going back again soon!

I got a chicken salad sandwich and carrot cake. Sadly, the chicken salad tasted off and was just not very good. The carrot cake was good but I do wonder if it is made in house.

Galley Hatch is pretty good! For some reason we never really went but the last few months we’ve gone several times, including Mother’s Day lunch. I’ve found the front staff (hostess and the bakery) to be a bit unfriendly on occasion, but the restaurant waitstaff have been super pleasant. The menu is huge. Leans almost on the side of too big for my taste because I get overwhelmed easily. They have a ridiculous wedge salad (ridiculous in a good way). And it may have been a mother’s say special but I had a haddock in sauce that was very good, too. Everyone else enjoyed their food and my daughter was in love with the mozzarella sticks and pretzel bites. The pretzels are especially good. One down side is that does seem to take awhile for the food all the times we’ve been there. Fortunately we’ve never been in a rush and our daughter is good in restaurants, but if you have somewhere to be or a kid who can’t sit still for very long, I supposed it could be potentially problematic? Family dependent I imagine.

I had a great dinner at The Galley Hatch in Hampton Beach, NH. I stopped in to get out of the cold and also catch up on some work, and I’m so glad I did! The staff, especially Karisa, were incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home. They were attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience even better. For food, I had the French onion soup – nice and cheesy, just the way I like it – followed by the French dip, which was delicious and hit the spot. I was able to get a lot of work done while enjoying some cold beers, and had some great conversations with the staff. Overall, it was a perfect mix of great food, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Google
Lunch was good with friends and in the room with the burning gas log. Our server, Dea was wonderful and brought us a basket of rolls and corn bread, with an appetizer of fried zucchini spears that were shared. The entree’s included Seafood Newburg, a bowl with a popover that was filled with scallops, shrimp and fish in a pool of sauce. It was not plated well but was tasty. The French dip with a ramekin of beef broth was enjoyed as was the Cheeseburger, cooked medium rare w optional bacon and Swiss cheese. Nice.

Lunch was excellent and Dea was AWESOME!! We love it here and come every time we are in the area this is where we come!!!

Yelp
Every time we drive by this place it's full so we decided to give it a try this past weekend. Really cool atmosphere with multiple rooms and a fun fish tank in the middle of the restaurant- my two year old loved seeing "dory"- ha. Love the fresh bakery items and cafe when you walk in - service was really good. Three stars because where we were seated (back booths against window with a view of the bar) it seemed to be totally infested with flies. I'm talking at least 10 flies were buzzing around us landing on our food and table the whole time. Totally understandable that some things you can't control but it was pretty disturbing and made the whole experience feel icky. Food was nothing to write home about. Huge menu so maybe we caught it on an off day? Not sure if be rushing back due to our experience. Always support local and give it a shot!

Yelp
After going to the GH for years this is my opinion: 1. Great family atmosphere & local hangout place. 2. Awesome bartenders...especially Donna! 3. Great drinks & appetizers...prime rib is the best around. 4. Reasonable prices. The GH is a definitely a must for anyone in the seacoast area. I give a solid 4 stars so give it a try and Enjoy!

Yelp
Popped in as a group for lunch yesterday. Had a nice hostess and server that was very accommodating. Thank you! We ordered mussels & an app of warm feta dip to start. Both were hits. I dont enjoy seafood but the other 3 at the table ate every single mussel and there were a ton. I had some bread from the mussels order and it was soft and delishhh. The warm feta dip is amazing but i think they used to serve it with more pita. They still give a bunch of minced olives and diced tomatoes. Excellent. I ordered a bowl of french onion that was great but the bowl wasnt impressive in volume. The cheese ratio was high and the crout was great but i kind of wish 10-11$ bowl of french onion was bigger than a coffee cups volume. I also ordered a large greek salad with regular dressing and a side of red wine vinaigrette. Both were so good but i may even like the red wine vin more. The combo going back and forth between bites is A+. I asked for an absurd amount of pepperoncinis and i think i ended up with 13. Thank you so much Chef!!! The feta ratio is great too. My gf ordered a large greek salad 12$ or so and a chicken breast for additional 8$. The piece of chicken is usually so small that i personally dont add it to my salad. Its about 3-4 bites and she was kind of let down however she LOVES the rest of the salad. Her salad had 5 or so pepperoncinis on hers and her chicken was probably more like 7 bites worth. Neither of us finished the salad, its not crazy big but they are above average in size. Her son ordered the baron? Sandwich and LOVED it. It was under the medium he ordered and he still LOVED it. His gf got garlic chicken tenders and she thought they were fine. We all agreed they looked too uniform to be made in house but maybe we are wrong. She thought they were better in previous visits. Overall this is an awesome place on a summer day. The AC was ice cold and there is plenty of seating. Dont even get me started on Kays kafe/bakery in the same building. So good!

Yelp
My wife and I ate here with another couple as part of a wedding event. Our reservations were honored and we were seated on time. We all ordered a few drinks, the toffee tide martini was delicious! The food entrees were good, large generous portions. Side veggie of broccoli and mashed potatoes barely warm. I'm giving the review only three stars mainly due to our waitress. She should have not come to work this day. The most unfriendly person, exhibited a very stern attitude and never once smiled. She only checked on the table once. I would eat here again, but with caution. Always willing to give someone a second chance.

Yelp
The best clam chowder and buffalo chicken tendies on the seacoast! Lived here forever and have tried both items from many different restaurants and nothing has galley hatch beat.

William T.

Yelp
Great food, atmosphere and ambiance. The Galley Hatch has been around a long time. NOT a discount place! You will spend a lot of money eating here but for the most part it is worth the price that you pay. Great drinks. My go to plan is always the bread and butter, clam chowder which is excellent and then one of their unique and delicious filet mignon. One issue that I have is that the lobster roll that has been on the Specials menu is quite minute and a tourist trap rip off. I understand about this . All restaurants have similar practices. If you get the lobster roll on the special menu you had better order another entree to satisfy your hunger. The service has always been above board. Recommended.

Yelp
Stopped in for father's day! Seated right away! Very nice waitress, ordered drinks & looked over menu! They had some dad day specials as well! Husband had some clam chowder , it was amazing ! I had the prime rib , rice & broccoli! The rice was great! And the rib was pretty decent as well very tasty! Husband had the baked seafood platter , he said it was very good we will defiantly go back!

Yelp
Have driven by this place for years & years and I honestly thought it was a new place taken over recently only to find out its been the same & they just changed somethings around (sign out front, and a slight reno) Whenever Mom and I are out driving around looking for food we always end up at the same spots, so we decided this time to just pull in, I didnt even tell her where we were going I just pulled in. Confused at first where to go but then we found it, Walked in & its soo much nicer inside than the outside leads you to believe it is going to be. I might have slightly felt underdressed (I had on mom sweats that day - not house ones, but just casual ones) The place is nice, the atmosphere is nice, It was around 2-3 when we got there & everyone there was slightly of the older generation! Menu had many options, was torn on what to do, were we there for apps & drinks, did we want a full meal, what to do?! We got a bunch of apps, a pizza and some drinks, and bread (Im all about unnecessary carbs) Apps were ok, Mussels were TINY - no fault of theirs, just might have been better if there was something to them. Calamari was good. The pizza although hesitant at first (Shrimp with Red sauce) was rather tasty I put my card down on the table & expected the bill, instead he ran the bill and then gave me back the CC receipt, we paid $98 for 2 apps, 2 drinks & Pizza, I have since gone back in & tried to do the math based on the menu and that is WAY OFF, Unless the drinks were $25 each, I didnt realize until after we had walked out, So for $98 it wasnt somewhere I would run back to, However it was good, Next time I might just pay closer attention, but writing this has me back in the 'What the hell was $98" zone!!

Yelp
We got desserts that were amazing. The key lime tart and the cream puff and also got the cheesecake . A great variety to pick from . Everything made on site. Enjoy coffee tea and a nice dessert very quaint little place . That's attached to the bigger restaurant which was very good . Thanks Chris M

Yelp
I went in for a bowl of chili to go. I asked for tortilla chips and sour cream and was told it was included. I was told it would be 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I asked if it would be much longer and they said they would check on it. 10 minutes later I asked for my money back and to cancel the order. They apologized and checked again. Finally received the order. It was good - no sour cream though. Just way too long of a wait regardless of the reason. Also, very pricey for a cup of chili.

Yelp
We eat here frequently, usually enjoy our visits. Last night however was an experience that was unfortunately very poor. I don't usually review, but this was so bad I need to Hope someone reads this and takes it to heart. We were a table of six. We're seated at the correct time, waited 15 minutes for our waitress to show. When she showed it took another 15 to get drinks. She disappeared for quite awhile, came to take our orders . We asked for water. It never arrived. Our food came out, one order was room temp , it had been sitting for awhile. One stew was watery and bland. My steak sandwich and onion rings were Also cold. She showed after the food was delivered , again asked for water, was told it would right over. Took cocktail orders, and started to eat. 20 minutes went by, still no beverages. So I got up, took a pitcher of water And poured for our table. 10 minutes later cocktails showed up. Still no water or even mention of it. Bill showed right up after cocktails, so we assumed our time was up, we downed the drinks and left. Did not feel like any previous visit, and had left a very disappointed feeling with us. It will take a while for us to come back, if we do. I hope this helps management correct an issue of staff training.

Yelp
I have been going to the Galley Hatch for 20 years at least. I really enjoy the vibe of the restaurant. It's beautiful inside! The food can be inconsistent, but overall good. I enjoy their chowder & salmon plank dinner. Food is New England style in that it's pretty simple, but nicely prepared. The service is VERY inconsistent. I can have an overly attentive server, to last night when my food was aggressively served to me! The server never checked up on us once. The restaurant did fill up quick with large parties, so my table of my mom and I were forgotten. It's too bad, as I was ant to be able to go and trust that the restaurant will be consistent, but it's not. I'm going to stop going there for dinner and only go for lunch, when service is better.

Yelp
I'm truly upset with the dinner my husband received yesterday. He used to order the Chicken Kabobs a ton in the past and last night we both thought we'd get take out. He opens his container and sees one Kabob snapped in half to look like two... this is less food than what they used to make. He was still hungry afterwards. Very disappointing, there has definitely been a shift in the food at this restaurant and not for the better.

Marie S.

Yelp
Had dinner there Saturday with family and the food was delicious, perfectly prepared. The service was five star and the drinks were refreshing. The reason I gave only 3 stars is I believe they discriminate the elderly and young children. We were seated on the right front of the restaurant where all the elderly folks, the three of us are elderly and families with young children. The noise was over the top, my sister is hard of hearing so we couldn't have a conversation. I won't go back. If you decide to go and you are elderly be sure to specify that you want to be seated in the newly remodeled section, with the younger folk's.

Yelp
I'm at a loss for words. I've been dining here since my wife and I got married 49 years ago. We had our first meal as husband and wife at The Galley Hatch. Needless to say, today's meal will probably be our last. Our server was very pleasant. She promptly took our order, and away she went. We ordered a poutine for an appetizer, my wife ordered a salad and a salmon dinner. I ordered fried scallops, and our friend ordered haddock casserole. After a reasonable amount of time our food came out, all of our food, all at once. The poutine was virtually untouched because it was just some fries, with a huge melted mass of cheese with gravy on top. It was pretty disgusting, compared to all of the poutines I have eaten. My wife couldn't enjoy her salad because she had to concentrate on eating her meal before it got cold. The other two entrees were okay, nothing special. I don't feel like writing anything else, as I'm saddened that one of our favorite seacoast restaurants seems to be in decline. Based on today's visit, three stars seems rather generous.

Laura L.

Yelp
Stopped at Kayes Bakery and Cafe. All of the pastries and cakes looked delicious so we'll be back for those and to try the restaurant. Unfortunately we were not happy with the bagels we got toasted and to go. The bagels were ok however they didn't put the butter or cream cheese in them and didn't give us a knife in the bag to do it ourselves.... We wished someone, anyone had told us so we didn't have to do it by hand while driving south. The cafe itself was put together well, gifts you can buy and lots of seating inside and out.

Yelp
Saturday prime rib is amazing $27 "small" (huge) covers entire plate. Au jus for sides. Love their mashed potatoes and butternut squash with a nice Cabernet. Great service by Marianne. Make reservations! Lucky to live near by.

Yelp
While we frequently dine at Tino's (restaurant on second level), we have not been to the Galley Hatch in some time. It was nice to see and be seated in the new outside deck, which was recently added. The menu here is large and there is something for everyone. There are some hits and misses, but overall the food is good. Service is friendly and the food arrived from the kitchen quickly. We found our cocktails to be good, and potent as well. We saw Empanadas on the menu as an appetizer, and they were quite good. The dough was delicious and contained a very moist beef filling, which reminded me of a taco. We also tried a burger, which was massive at a half pound and easily shareable. While the burger was good, the fries were cold and soggy. I'm very fussy about fries, but I think most people would have been unhappy with these. My wife enjoyed her fried haddock sandwich with onion rings, which were far better than the fries. Dessert's are good here, in addition to the offerings on the menu, there is a bakery case in the lobby with many additional selections. Give them a try.

Yelp
this place is fun - make it a part of your Newburyport experience. go for lunch or dinner. the nautical vibes are great. 10/10. I have never been disappointed by my dishes. Truly a hidden gem in Newburyport!

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended by hotel staff at Hampton Beach & they were right on the beach but their restaurant had a long wait due to the crowd & convention folk during the Halloween weekend. The wait was made more pleasant by the fantastic hostesses who were funny and helpful. Wish I'd gotten photos of the princesses, villains and superheroes. While waiting I bought a few things in the bakery/ gift shop, including some coffee from a small company headquartered nearby. Dinner was delicious. It was made more special by sharing an experience with my 3 new friends. We ordered large quantities of food... it was great to share in the Seafood platter and Fisherman's platter. We enjoyed every morsel of shrimp, scallops, haddock... and more. The sides were great (two servings of mashed potatoes so there was enough to go around). Oh man, I'm just happy that we didn't pass this opportunity up, and that our hotel friends didn't steer us wrong. There is a reason this place gets great reviews.

Yelp
First of all, our server Patrick did a lovely job taking care of us. My son ordered the Mac and Cheese (Smoked Gouda, Fontina, and Romano, for the record) and it was the best Mac either of us have eaten, and a very large portion. I had the daily special for which was Swordfish prepared with a Cajun seasoning which was well prepared. Daughter recommended her ravioli, and my husbands Haddock sandwich was also great. Definitely check out their dessert selection, we tried the chocolate mousse cake to take home and it was fantastic!

Mo W.

Yelp
If you see chicken and shrimp Marsala as the ravioli special, please trust me, get it!!!

Yelp
Was in for lunch recently. Ordered the steak tips and each piece was cooked to drastically different temperatures. Service was slow and unimpressive.

Michael D.

Yelp
Ordered the filet mignon and a stir fry. The filet must have been a reheat to come out as dry as it was. The stir fry was passable but the chicken could have easily been used to re-sole a shoe. Service was OK but unremarkable. The restaurant is showing its age with perhaps the most uncomfortable chairs since plastic garden torture chairs. Used to be a favorite but needs a re-boot.

Yelp
I can't say enough about The Galley Hatch that hosted my daughter's baby shower this weekend. Kendra was amazing from the beginning of planning the event to the end. The food was superb. The staff was so helpful and friendly. They were able to accommodate food allergies as well. I would definitely recommend The Galley Hatch for an event or dining.

Mac And Cheese C.

Yelp
this mac and cheese was incredibly delicious, the bacon bits added a great touch to it as well. the cheese was stringy and delicious. the reason why the mac and cheese is not 5 stars is because of the portion of bread crumbs to pasta, there was a boat load of bread crumbs on the pasta which took away a bit of the taste. also, the ideal pasta shape of mac and cheese for me is shells, since it gets all the toppings without needing to do extra work and the pasta shape here was difficult to get all the toppings with. overall, this mac and cheese is definitely up on my top ten as of now and i recommend trying it.

Jl D.

Yelp
Ordered two pizza's to go last Friday. Both terrible. The dough did not rise, very hard to chew. Wanted pizza well done not burned. One pizza was missing one of the toppings ordered, other pizza toppings all to one side. No quality control. Brought pizza back to Galley Hatch and spoke to Mgr. Said she would speak to chef and gave me gift card for $30. Guess what? It does not take a great chef to make a decent pizza, just a little effort. Not the first time for bad experience at Galley Hatch. Go somewhere else. It's hit or miss.

Mary F.

Yelp
I brought 19 people to this restaurant last Saturday and they were very impressive with service, food, waiter and waitress with great attitudes and always there for what we needed. I usually ask the group if they like the place and all 19 people loved it. That's magic, wouldn't you say? I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and I visit often. There should be more restaurants around that have great service, food and wait staff like this. Kudo's to the staff. I give this an A+ on everything. Keep up the good work. Mary

Yelp
So again , this time we were later in the day on a Friday afternoon. We're usually early. Very busy yet bartender's we're extremely nice. Food was good. Butternut squash was so good . No getting in a bad mood here. Today I had prime rib. Excellent!!

Yelp
My daughter and I went recently to celebrate my birthday. Have not been there in years. In the 80's it was a go to place for seafood. It has been in business for over 50 years...time to freshen up the space, in my opinion. Upon entering we were greeted by the hostess, who took us to a booth right in front of door to kitchen...a bit smelly..we then asked for a table. She brought us to a teeney table ( we are not petite woman), stating to us that the larger tables to the right were reserved. mmmm12:30 pm. We were there at least an hour and a half and those tables were never occupied. Hmmmm? The server came over, a very pleasant young lady. We ordered fish and chips to begin with, and a lobster 2lb. $58 stuffed for our entree. We expressly told her in that order. After waiting about 20 minutes for the fish and chips, I asked her to check on it. About 10 minutes later, she came with the fish and said the lobster would be right out. The fish fries onion rings all cold obviously sitting under a light for a while. Grabbed her attention immediately , she stated she brought them right out but she would replace them. Within in a few minutes she bought the lobster, and the redone fish. Unbelievable! The lobster stuffing cold...we told her it was cold but leave it because now it was becoming a problem. We told her make the manager aware! The vegetables.. string bean and carrots ..COLD AND RAW We picked at the lobster decided to take it home to reheat, ate the fries, the fish was gross but no more complaining from us until...we paid the bill $85 cash plus a $20 Tip ( the server simply had no training, not her fault)...and I asked "Did you speak with your manager?". Yes, was the response and I said "Well what did she/he say?" The server said "Oh she apologized." REALLY Please go get her! Well, over to the table, she struts, and proceeded to argue with me that she personally saw the first fish dinner come out hot...REALLY, "Are you accusing us of lying I said?" "WELL I was watching it being cooked." she said...REALLY from the front desk to the kitchen she monitors every meal...WOW.....I did not bother going into the lobster stuffing ( needed more time under the broiler) being cold because obviously she had made her mind up that we were irresponsible customers. Needless to say, we will never be back, not so much about the food preparation issues, but more about a manager who obviously is not interested in training staff and who certainly has NO PEOPLE SKILLS.

Renee J.

Yelp
We TERRIBLY, absolUtely, without a doubt. ADORED the immense pleasure that was ThE Galley Hatch and Its spectacle of service. A1 Portuguese stew, marvelous martinis, and the bread just puts the nail in the coffin (Death By Carbs ). Thankz Megan!

Yelp
Ordered Thanksgiving dinners and sides .. if I wanted institutional Turkey roll , I would have purchased high quality Turkey at the local deli which is better. The pies were great. This is a hard pass for next year.

Yelp
This place is the spot to hit if you want great food, service and amazing atmosphere...check it out it won't disappoint

Yelp
Love the fried baby shrimp and chowder ! This has been our family restaurant for years !!! The service is always fantastic. It's a great New England theme / experience !

Yelp
We thought we'd have a nice dinner the lobster was tough and steak was not good either I think the kids meals were acceptable but service was also lacking

Yelp
The Galley Hatch food has been consistently good for decades. Additionally, the service at the Galley Hatch is always top notch. Lastly, the ambiance at the Galley Hatch epitomizes traditional New England.

Beverly T.

Yelp
This review is for the bakery. Paid $28 for Easter cake. The cake was supposed to serve 8-12 people. it was about 6 inches long and there was no decoration on it-just had some of those hard sugar candy decorations stuck onto it. Cake was dry-never again

Lori H.

Yelp
We chose the Galley Hatch for our 60th Birthday celebration and they did not disappoint. First they sat us down and said we can do mostly anything you'd like. They made suggestions when they did not have something and they just made it so easy. They where so very open and considerate on ever situation. They let us pick cakes from the their own bakery (delicious) we even changed our minds and they smiled. If we spoke to an employee, even if they where not working with our group, they smiled and helped. We had a great day, great food and thank you all at the Galley Hatch for making our celebration memorable.

Yelp
Food service and ambiance all very good. A bit on the pricey side but definitely the best restaurant in the Hampton area

Yelp
I went here for Mother's Day with my wife and Mother In Law. We had the clam chowder and crab cakes as appetizers, both were very good. For our entrees, we had the Fishermen's and Seafood platter. These were ok, I thought the clams were a little overcooked. My wife had the fried Haddock sandwich which was very good. All and all, not to bad. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Had the best time again at this restaurant and with bakery items to go. Drive from Boston to eat here and it never disappoints. Kudos to Connor, our waiter who was outstanding and to the chefs as the food was delicious. We'll be back!

Devin F.

Yelp
Fantastic food at fair prices. Fresh, good portions in up to date decor. Wonderful bakery. We always get our cakes here.

C G.

Yelp
Cake is quite delicious. Deep dish pizzas are amazing. There is also a cafe attached. Comfortable chairs.

Catherine M.

Yelp
I just ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin and this is what I got. An overcooked mess, to go. I don't know who is doing the cooking here but they really need to figure out how to make breakfast sandwiches. I seriously could have gone to Dunks for something better, sadly. Whatever there was for cheese was melted off almost completely and burnt. The muffin is hard as a rock. Not sure what happened, but I can say the quality is no longer there...AND it's more money ‍‍

Yelp
Loved their boiled lobster! Glad to find a local place with fresh seafood. The front desk lady was very nice to introduce the food options and added her own comments

Yelp
We waited forever. I ordered the swordfish, my wife ordered the Salmon. Both dishes came ice cold and overcooked. This was our first and last time coming here.
