Gallo Manor Lodge

My recent stay at Gallo Manor, specifically in what I believe was the African Room, conveyed a distinct impression of faded grandeur. It is apparent that this establishment once possessed a more distinguished character, which has unfortunately diminished over time. Upon arrival, several aspects of the accommodation indicated a need for significant attention. The bedding in the room exhibited noticeable holes, suggesting a state of considerable wear. Similarly, the bath towels presented frayed edges, indicative of prolonged use beyond their optimal lifespan. Within the shower, a tile was cracked and observed to be detaching from the wall, a clear maintenance concern. Furthermore, the carpet in the room was visibly soiled, detracting from the overall cleanliness and presentation of the guesthouse. The door to the garden and one of the cupboards were just haphazardly closed with a chain and padlock - not something you would expect to see in a well maintained establishment. The breakfast service proved to be a disappointment. Specifically, the omelette provided contained a substantial quantity of peppers, an ingredient that was not offered as an optional addition, leading to an unsatisfactory culinary experience. The overall quality and selection of the breakfast offerings were below expected standards. In conclusion, I would not recommend this establishment given its current state. It is in urgent need of comprehensive maintenance and revitalization to ensure its continued viability and to meet contemporary guest expectations.

Absolutely greedy establishment. We booked the place and within a few hours of the booking I got violently ill with food poisoning. Immediately had the booking cancelled within a few hours. The establishment refused a refund , or a booking for future voucher or even half refund not even a refund for the paid breakfast. I will never recommend them and I will never visit them ever. Disgusted . Watch out for such establishments

Gallo Manor is truly the best place to stay in Sandton. The place is secure and the people are so friendly, warm and welcoming. We cannot wait to come back and cannot stop talking about our stay there. The property is in a boomed secure area and the property also has a gate and cameras so security is not an issue. The entire team are so friendly and when we left they truly made us feel like family. The breakfast is amazing and Katlego is so attentive and helpful. The rooms are nice and big and so spacious and the gardens are so beautiful and well kept. Gallo Manor is truly worth the visit, you won't want to leave! I promise you that :)

We had a wonderful experience with my partner. We checked in to our room which was magnificent. The premises were beautiful. The only downside was the receptionist who was rude, on Friday night she mentioned that she wasn't feeling well. So she didn't tell us exactly what time is the breakfast and the process for ordering breakfast. The following morning around 9:30am we wake-up to no water or electricity, and she isn't in the front office, so we stay warm in bed only to get a call from the receptionist at 11am telling us that she is waiting for our order. When we meet her at the reception to ask about the breakfast options and the water and electricity situation, she shouted at us that it's not her fault that the generator is not working. When serving breakfast we had to ask her for certain things she would gives us attitude. This is an amazing establishment in a great neighborhood, the receptionist needs to work on her attitude.

My cousin recommended Gallo Manor Country Lodge as it is just down the road from her place. I arranged private car transfers through the Lodge. Robert was there to meet me and take me back at the end of my stay. By taking the mid-morning KLM flight from Amsterdam I avoided a double overnight journey arriving JNB at 9:30p (21:30hrs). After a traffic-free transfer, I was met by the owner, Lynne, who showed me to my room outside the main house. Had everything I needed - comfortable bed, plenty of hot water (it was very hot), a fridge, kettle and plenty of storage. I only had breakfast on a few days but it was fine - freshly cooked eggs! The grounds were well-maintained and there was a nice view of the golf course from my room. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lynne was the perfect host. On my last day, she offered a late checkout of 8:00p (20:00hrs) as the room would not be occupied until the following day. I know that cannot happen everytime, but it was heaven to be able to shower and change before long flights back to the USA. I would, absolutely, stay there again. The only negative aspect was internet strength. I did have problems from time to time, especially streaming. I believe the Lodge was having some internet issues while I was there, so it may be working fine.

Great experience. I have stayed 3 nights in this lovely place in a secured domain. The owner as well as the staff made me really felt at home. Very quiet, nice breakfast, definitely worth your money. Looking forward to return

Really nice place to stay. Beautiful garden. Personally I think warm white LEDs lights create a more homely feel. The cool white LEDs in my room were a little harsh. But maybe that is just me. :-) Super friendly helpful staff. Thanks Gallo Manor Lodge.

My wife and I have had the opportunity to visit Gallo Mano Country Lodge several times. Last time, in late August, 2017 with our daughter, son-in-law and our two lovely grandchildren, three and five. Lynne Taylor the owner and host with her team gave such a warm welcoming atmosphere and made our stay so relaxing and memorable! We loved the great garden, very clean and well kept spacious rooms, beds comfortable, and delicious breakfast. Gallo Manor is such a lovely and great place to stay! It is indeed a "home away from home". Thanks Lynne and your team, we look forward to come back home!
