Galveston Arts Center

I like the mission of the Galveston Arts Center and its exhibits feature local artists from around the Texas Gulf Coast region. They host the Galveston Art Walk from March to October annually and organize a lot of educational events for kids and adults at the arts center as well as in the community. Whenever a new exhibit launches, the artist would present a talk about their work and art pieces. There is a main exhibition hall on the first floor and a wine vendor, Florino, in the left corner. There are stairs on the left or in the back of the building that will take you to the second floor where there are two smaller exhibition spaces and a classroom. Admission is free and donations are welcome. I volunteer at the arts center from time to time and I love it! This building also has an interesting history, so it's a plus for anyone who might be interested in Galveston's history.

We enjoyed our time as part of the Galveston museum weekend experience, however, I don't think we would have paid to tour.

This is the place to go for quality contemporary art exhibitions in Galveston. I try to stop by whenever I’m on the island. The front desk person is friendly and helpful for info on the exhibits.

Never knew this art museum was here until I stumbled in one day! All exhibitions are free, including a downstairs and upstairs exhibit! Art rotates out periodically. Will be back in the future!

We stopped by to cool off and saw some amazing are. Where we visited there were a few exhibits involving mixed media that were stunning and really kept the interest of the whole family. The staff are very nice and welcoming. At the time there was also a wine tasting going on. The gallery is very clean, multi story and has bathrooms available. Highly recommend stopping by and checking out the latest exhibits.

Small art gallery with locally made exhibits. While we were there there were a lot of mixed media art pieces on display (as opposed to, say, paintings). The Eden display was my favorite. Carpeted stairs were a little dirty but the bathrooms were very clean. They also have a guest book that you can leave sketches in. Also it's free entry, so you might as well pop in and see what they have on display!

In my opinion, this is Galveston's best art gallery. I personally love the curated rotating exhibitions from local artists and organizations so you're able to have a more tailored and focused appreciation of the art displayed. I frequently bring guests to this gallery first during monthly Art Walks, and the selection of art never disappoints. Everybody who works here is friendly and makes you feel welcome.

I'm a local so I've been to the arts center several times...today, I wanted to go specifically for the "cat parfait" exhibit...bunch of art literally about cats! The butthole of cats...art? I dunno, but it's on exhibit. I'm a cat lady (have 2 cats) so I had to show my face for sure. I liked it...had it not been free...I'd probably had skipped it. (skateboard art upstairs. Free art gallery and a cool tiny gift shop. Different forms, subjects and areas of art are displayed and it make a nice and interesting pit stop on a hot day (AC ). I won't necessarily recommend it for young kids ( I'm sure some may argue) because the up close and personal level of interaction is just not there and I think it would be hard to keep interest levels at pick or even close. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, friendly and cheerful. I don't know that it has enough to make me come back but I do recommend it if you're in the area.

First of all this is a free place to visit, so that is great already. The gift shop has a good variety at affordable pricing. All the staff is very friendly and informative. The displays were very interesting and original. Thumbs up!!

This place had a wonderful exhibit celebrating color in life the day we came to visit. The artists and exhibits rotate, but the museum is always free! I don't know about you, but that makes it worth my while to stop in and enjoy the beauty. There is also a workspace upstairs that they run little art classes out of and there is a little gift shop downstairs as well. I really enjoyed it and would stop in if I'm ever in Galveston again.

What a beautiful space! Stopped by during Art Walk and wasn't disappointed. The featured artist was present that night for questions, which was such a nice touch! The staff was friendly too! Definitely worth a visit, even for those who are less artistically inclined.

A Great little Non Profit Art Gallery! It's very Spacious and Current with Houston Art Galleries. Met the sweetest lady Celia that talked to us and told us about the Gallery features. Show them some love guys!!!
