Gamma Monterrey Gran Hotel Ancira

Great hotel with clean rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel is historic with an amazing ambiance. The staff is courteous, especially the bell man, he suggested things to see eating establishments. The English was spoken here, which helped a lot. Will definitely stay here again. The hotel and the area are very safe.

Absolutely wonderful. I've nothing but positive words about this hotel. The lobby is stunning just beautiful, room is nice and clean, pool area is very nice as well. Pics already look great online but then in person this hotel is even better than expected. The staff is fantastic as well so kind and always helpful. Got to love the 12pm checkout time too! Fantastic location great for exploring on foot and central to everywhere that we wanted to go. 11/10 would stay here again and definitely recommend it!

They treated my girlfriend and a friend like crap. The night security told them the hotel wasn't a street hotel insinuating that they were prostitutes. They also put chains in the main entry door at night which I believe is illegal in case of emergency

Elegant old grand dame. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful spaces and finishes. We had a room on the Fiesta Rewards floor (3) and the room was a small suite and very nice. Great location for seeing the sights on foot and plenty of great restaurants within an easy walk, too.

This is a grand old hotel, well over 100 years old. The architecture is wonderful, and the lobby is a great place to hang out. The rooms are quite nice (at least on the "Fiesta Rewards" floor, floor 3 — I didn't see the others). The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and quite functional. There is a fridge. I wish there was a reading (ie, comfortable) chair in the room, but there wasn't — only a desk chair on casters.||The restaurant did not have the most interesting menu, but the food was really well prepared — the salmon was really good! We didn't try the breakfast buffet.||I couldn't figure out when the in-hotel Starbucks was open. Supposedly it opens at 8, but it wasn't the one day I checked it out.||The front desk staff are very friendly and competent.||Strongly recommended if you want an "old world" experience in the heart of Monterrey.

The only negative was a fridge that didn't work and the towels were way below par for a hotel of this caliber. Nothing to bother the staff about but it is disappointing when a property neglects the little things. The rooms were a bit worn but the hotel itself was beautiful and the staff was excellent. I would stay again

The rooms definitely need some up keep. First room was so dirty we were given a second room. Both rooms lacked the proper attention to cleanliness in the showers and toilet area as well as the couch area in the common room. The lobby is spectacular and the service was amazing ! I think with some fresh paint and better detail to restrooms this is 5 star visits every time !

The Gran Ancira was built in 19I2. Now with that said I have stayed at a few other hotels that were as old and historic as this one but the Gran Ancira definitely holds its own against them. As you enter the Gran Ancira hotel you are graciously greeted by numerous hotel employees. You then make your way into the lobby/ ballroom with a beautiful grand sweeping staircase. The floor is the classy black & white checkers that you'll quickly see reflecting above you on the ceiling adorned full of mirrors. I was here for work for 10 days so the food was provided by the hotel but it was very good. I did see that they had a Sunday brunch that looked incredible. The rooms are nice but your view can be hit or miss depending on what side of the hotel you get. The size of the rooms are decent size and the beds were very comfortable pillow top mattresses. The bathrooms varied in size from room to room. A few of the rooms had nice spacious bathrooms while the others(the one I got!) was tiny and made you feel claustrophobic. Other than that everything in the rooms are clean and tidy. Oh yeah the wifi was a bit spotty in the rooms. The surrounding area has a bit of a Euro feel with the cobblestone streets and plazas. Shopping,restaurants and even a electronics market reminiscent of ones found in Asia are all within walking distance. So onto the best part of the hotel....the PEOPLE! Literally every single employee that I encountered at this hotel was sincerely, genuinely nice and helpful! A rare thing nowadays but somehow you guys managed to do it!
