Gamodh Citadel Resort - Anuradhapura

Our experience was positive all the way from the reservation to the departure. The service we received from the staff was exceptional. They are a bunch of friendly and hard working guys who love what they are doing. The place is kids friendly and they keep the swimming pool well cleaned. The shallow end is just 3ft, making it safer for little kids and you also have the deep end which is I think about 5ft. The surrounding area of the pool is also very clean and free from hazards. Rooms are spacious and have all the amenities you need. One thing we noticed is that you get more than enough toiletries compared to other hotels so you don’t have to chase staff or make phone calls asking for more :) Beds are very comfy and we loved their super clean linen. For us, this was the biggest takeaway. Bathrooms are also dry and clean. The food was amazing! We enjoyed their authentic Sri Lankan cuisine free from msg that you can let your kids eat without questioning yourselves. Overall, our stay at Gamodh Citadel was comfortable and memorable in many ways. We really hope that they will grow bigger and achieve great things in the future. We highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Anuradhapura.

This hotel is an excellent place to relax while exploring the ancient attractions of Anuradhapura. The calm and peaceful environment makes it perfect for travelers who want to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The food is truly delicious and fantastic, with a good variety of local and international dishes. The service is very good, and the staff are extremely friendly, polite, and always ready to help. The swimming pool is clean, spacious, and well maintained, which adds great value to the overall stay. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and nicely arranged, making the stay very pleasant. The hotel surroundings are quiet and green, creating a relaxing atmosphere. I can recommend this place without any hesitation for families, couples, or solo travelers. It is located about 7 km from the Sri Maha Bodhi vehicle park, making it convenient to visit all the important religious and historical sites in Anuradhapura.

We spent just one night at the hotel but also had dinner at their restaurant. Overall, our experience was very positive: the room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The only small downside is that the rooms aren’t soundproof, so you can sometimes hear noise from neighbouring ones. The food was really good, offering genuine Sri Lankan flavors. A special mention goes to the service — the staff were excellent, and Sahil was outstanding during dinner, answering all our questions and making sure everything went smoothly. Overall, our stay at Gamodh Citadel was comfortable and enjoyable. Value for price during Christmas Days was worthy. We truly hope they keep up this great level of service!

During the heavy floods in sri lanka, the young and very motivated team gave their very best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They made our time as sweet as it could possibly have been. The food was great and the area, especially the pool, is great to explore even during the rain. Since we were the only guests, they quickly organized a cooking class for us which taught us how to make rice and curry :)|5/5 experience <3

Staff were very friendly and professional, making us feel welcome from the start. The welcome drink and afternoon tea were absolutely delicious. Rooms are large, air-conditioned, and spotless. Overall, a great experience and very nice people to deal with. The only area for improvement would be the limited Wi-Fi, especially since mobile signal strength in the area is weak.

We stayed at Gamodh Citadel Resort, Anuradhapura on 3rd May 2025, and had a great experience. We booked two deluxe double rooms and one triple room. The deluxe rooms were a bit small, but clean and very reasonable for the price. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink, which was a lovely gesture. The rooms were well prepared with all the essentials—tea and coffee packets, water bottles. , a kettle, a working TV, hot water, and air conditioning. What really surprised us was that they provided dental kits, shaving kits, and vanity kits—things we don’t usually see even in some 4- or 5-star hotels. Most places only offer the basics, so these thoughtful extras were a very pleasant surprise. The swimming pool was very clean and comfortable, and we were given pool towels when we went for a swim. They also offer bicycle rentals, which is great for exploring the area. There is a restaurant at the resort, but we didn’t try the food as the prices were a bit high. However, judging by the quality of the place, we believe the food would also be good. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. A well-managed resort with great service, useful facilities, and good value for money. Highly recommended!

We visited this gem of a place twice. The first visit was a walk in as the previously booked location turned out to be a nightmare. We felt like we checked in to a haven. The staff was super supportive despite of a very busy weekend and provided us with an excellent room. The room was very clean and equipped with all necessities. On the initial visit we were on room only basis, but decided to order dinner. The food was exceptional. Even my toddler (who’s a picky eater) loved it. All in all we revisited after 3 months and booked full board. It was the best decision we made and i was all great. We loved each minute spent on the ground, pool and room. The food was really great and they even catered as per my toddlers request (she is over the moon). You’ve made us your regulars.
