Gamodh Citadel Resort - Anuradhapura

Staff were very friendly and professional, making us feel welcome from the start. The welcome drink and afternoon tea were absolutely delicious. Rooms are large, air-conditioned, and spotless. Overall, a great experience and very nice people to deal with. The only area for improvement would be the limited Wi-Fi, especially since mobile signal strength in the area is weak.

We stayed at Gamodh Citadel Resort, Anuradhapura on 3rd May 2025, and had a great experience. We booked two deluxe double rooms and one triple room. The deluxe rooms were a bit small, but clean and very reasonable for the price. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink, which was a lovely gesture. The rooms were well prepared with all the essentials—tea and coffee packets, water bottles. , a kettle, a working TV, hot water, and air conditioning. What really surprised us was that they provided dental kits, shaving kits, and vanity kits—things we don’t usually see even in some 4- or 5-star hotels. Most places only offer the basics, so these thoughtful extras were a very pleasant surprise. The swimming pool was very clean and comfortable, and we were given pool towels when we went for a swim. They also offer bicycle rentals, which is great for exploring the area. There is a restaurant at the resort, but we didn’t try the food as the prices were a bit high. However, judging by the quality of the place, we believe the food would also be good. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. A well-managed resort with great service, useful facilities, and good value for money. Highly recommended!

I booked this hotel over the phone and they asked for 20k payment. And said if I postponed or changed they can send me the payment. As I had to cancel the reservation for very valod reason and I had to ask my money back. Then they said unable to give them back and they said the person I called was resigned. I dont know they lied to me but even if I asked they didn’t pay me yet. So I think this hotel processes are hard to trust and i don’t recommend anyone to book this hotel via phone unless you are very sure to visit it.

I stayed one night at this hotel. I booked a triple room. I expected more space as a triple room. But it was a very small one. Food is above average. We ordered rice and curry and fried rice for lunch. Staff is friendly. They made us aware of the elephants roams at night near the hotel. Hence it’s not recommended to go outside of the hotel after 9pm. Hotel rents bicycles. But you have to take them for a full 24hours. You couldn’t take for 12 or 6 hours of time. That is something negative I experienced.

We visited this gem of a place twice. The first visit was a walk in as the previously booked location turned out to be a nightmare. We felt like we checked in to a haven. The staff was super supportive despite of a very busy weekend and provided us with an excellent room. The room was very clean and equipped with all necessities. On the initial visit we were on room only basis, but decided to order dinner. The food was exceptional. Even my toddler (who’s a picky eater) loved it. All in all we revisited after 3 months and booked full board. It was the best decision we made and i was all great. We loved each minute spent on the ground, pool and room. The food was really great and they even catered as per my toddlers request (she is over the moon). You’ve made us your regulars. Highly recommended to all travelers who’s looking for a peaceful and convenient place which provides you an exceptional service. (The pics are from the second visit)

I stumbled upon Gamodh Citadel Resort during my recent trip to Anuradhapura, and I'm so glad I did! This place is truly fantastic. Its location is ideal, being within easy reach of all the major religious sites in the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was spotless and comfortable, providing a relaxing haven after a day of exploring. The breakfast options were a delightful touch, with both Eastern and English selections to cater to various tastes. I highly recommend Gamodh Citadel Resort to anyone visiting Anuradhapura. It's an excellent choice for a comfortable and convenient stay.

“I booked a deluxe double room with a pool view, but was instead given a dark, dingy ground-floor room next to the main entrance. When I inquired, I was offered an upgrade to a deluxe room with no pool view—at an additional charge. The breakfast was à la carte, as they don’t offer a buffet. The bathroom had an unpleasant smell and lacked proper ventilation. While Mangala, Darshani, and the rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating, this is ultimately a 3-star hotel with great potential but poor execution. The photos on the website were misleading, and the room I received was not what I had paid for. Due to this experience, I wouldn’t stay here again.
