Gampo Abbey

Every road trip has a stop that shifts something inside you, Gampo Abbey was mine. There are no guided tours, no loud fanfare, just a peaceful welcome to walk the grounds and be present. Just up the road, the stupa of enlightenment rises, with benches tucked around the space, inviting you to sit and let stillness do its work. This is not a tourist attraction, it’s a soul attraction. You come curious, and you leave lighter. Highly recommend for anyone needing a pause, a reflection, or a quiet conversation with themselves. Liberate yourself by examining and analyzing. Don’t wallow in self-pity. Don’t be jealous. Don’t be frivolous. Don’t expect applause. — Gampo Abbey 🌿

Most peaceful place I’ve ever been. Tours not available at this time due to Covid. Beautiful walk through the woodland trail. Seems overgrown at first but opens up and the path becomes more clear very quickly. No cell service ,no traffic, no noise pollution. Just nature and quiet.

Really beautiful monument that I highly suggest visiting, if you have the time. There is a lot to discover such as the history, how it was built and what each piece symbolizes. The drive up can be a bit rough seeing as it's a gravel road however the views, and the monument, are well worth it.

Lovely place to visit and relax. Unfortunately there were no tours at this time but maybe next year. The drive there is scenic too and it was a great part of our trip.

Buddhist monastery with retreat cabins. Closed certain times of the year for retreats. Recommendation is to call before you visit. A number of great hikes are available for the visitors.

Gorgeous grounds surrounded on one side by seaside cliffs and on the other by woods. The trail to the Stupa is a peaceful walk well worth the detour from the Harbour.

Nice place on Cape Brenton Island, would recommend doing walk on mark trials well worth the time!!

Interesting Spot along the way to Abbey's Wilderness. Great respect to Buddhist people.
