Tourist trap!! We got DENGUE there!!! The room is not fully closed by walls, so hundred of mosquitoes get into it and you just have a mosquito net with holes, and of course just in the bed and not in the rest of the room so good luck... And because I prefer to don't talk about the rats making sounds all the night just out of your room and knowing that your walls are open... Also because of this open walls and because it's the top floor of the building, the hot is insane, don't expect any chance to sleep. Also the common areas you see in the pictures, are just good pictures... You've a really small reception full with a pool table and that's it. Other small things like NO hot water, even in my private room. If you look for the negative (and more realistic) opinions, you will see the same comments, and the rude answers from the owner who even insult an old lady backpacker for "having not money to book a hotel instead of a bed", showing that he knows nothing about what being a backpacker means. There are much better options in town even with A/C for less price. Just check! PD: As expected the owner shown his real face insulting again... I traveled around the whole Asia for years, and I know what are mosquitoes and what a hostel means, seeing your previous answers to other reviews probably I know it better than you .. And yours is a tourist trap and the worse hostel and most dangerous I'd never seen.

Everyone at Ganesha makes you feel so welcome as soon as you arrive and are so helpful, answering any queries. The rooms are simple but good quality and the bar area is great for chilling during the day and evening - $0.75 draught beers in happy hours are great! Great value.

I was in the dorm of 8 bed There is space in the room. bathroom clean, owner very friendly and downtown location. They do pizza and they are very delicious. For me it was perfect. I want to remind people (because of bad comment I read) : if you go in the dorm the cleanliness of the bathroom is also depending of the people inside the dorm. If you are unlucky and be with selfish people of course bathroom can be dirty but it's absolutely not the fault of the owner. So please be smart and kind when you write review. For people who complain about the fact that Aircon is off during the day, I suggest them to book a private room with Aircon if you need to relax in the day. It's piss me off people who complain when they pay 2$ and want same service than a room at 15$. Be smart ! Also, it's a guest house with dorm, generally in this kind of place there is backpacker and yong people, so yes the lobby can be noisy because people enjoy evening time.

After my stay here, I’m convinced they delete any negative reviews - after what I’ve heard from people staying here, locals and even the lady working behind the desk said they’ve got lots of complaints recently. It’s not owned by Cambodians, unfortunately it’s owned by a really angry German guy. Like unnecessarily angry. I’ve heard this hostel is going out of business and closing down by several tuk tuk drivers, and even other guests had heard and honestly, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. This place needs to be shut down, like yesterday. The way it treats its guests is actually shocking. Firstly, I walked in and said I was here to check in and the woman just pointed and said not till 1pm (we arrived at 12) and said to leave bags. I said my boyfriend is sick can we just chill here she nodded and pointed to the bar stools. I checked in and was told I had an upgrade to a room with air con, also was like cool. We got to our room then went for a walk around town to get my partner some medicine (he had been throwing up since that morning (pro tip, don’t book your buses here. EVERYWHERE in town does it way cheaper than them). When we got back I was laying in bed reading and suddenly i was like wait, I booked a smaller room than this (I travel a lot and always forget what I booked) so I checked my hostel world booking and I was right. A smaller room with my partner so sick was what we would have preferred. So I went down and asked and she said yes I upgraded you, and I said I don’t see how a 8 bed room is an upgrade from a 5 bed and she said oh because it has air con. I would like to reiterate I said ‘I don’t see how it’s an upgrade’ because aircon or not, I don’t see how a 8 bed is better than a 5. We’ve been in Cambodia 3 weeks with only fan rooms and been fine, plus when she told me it was an upgrade she never mentioned it was a bigger room, only about the AC. I said it’s fine and went back upstairs. 5 minutes later she comes up with the owner on the phone. He starts yelling at me and won’t let me speak about how I paid for a cheap room and can’t complain for getting a nicer room and I was like hold up. He was getting really aggressive at this point and said if we don’t leave he will call the police. I was like fine I really don’t feel comfortable staying here anyway and honestly, I’d rather give my money to Cambodian owned businesses. He was calling me a cheap skate backpacker and honestly it’s not about the price - if my partner wasn’t sick maybe it would have been fine but they should have been upfront to start about the bigger room. No one said at check in it was a different bed size room, and I feel it should have so I could have had all the information before agreeing. I’ve stayed in fan rooms all throughout Cambodia and it’s no issue for me. So, there was a guy in our room who said it happened to him too he booked a 5 bed and was told basically they’d mismanaged their bookings (using booking and Hostelworld) and they had too many bookings and so he had to go into a 8 bed AND THEY MADE HIM PAY EXTRA FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT HIS FAULT. Overall, this could have been completely avoided if not for awful mismanagement of only two simple booking systems. Obviously they aren’t capable of making sure they aren’t overbooked. The lady who was working said the hostel had had a lot of complaints at the moment and so the owner was extra touchy and honestly if that’s how he deals I am so not surprised. He deserves his business to be shut drown and thankfully that’s happening. But also, the lady working should be able to deal with things herself if she knows how awful the owner is. She rang him after I said one thing and he accused me of complaining since the morning and first of all, I didn’t even check in till the afternoon.l We went to another hostel and got a private for cheaper. And I know he is going to comment on this review and be aggressive and rude and tell you all I am lying but I know I’m not. The other people in the room know I am not. And he, deep down, knows I am not and that’s why his business is closing.

Good value for money, room had a net so didn’t get bitten. Nice cats around and staff all very friendly. Flush was slightly dodgy but we probably could have sorted this if we’d had asked. Really good restaurant next door - the smoking pot.

I really enjoyed my time here. It's the perfect place for backpackers and travellers perhaps looking for somewhere a little different than the chain hostels.||Great for relaxing throughout the day; games of pool and deep conversations with interesting characters in the evenings.||I stayed in the newly-renovated dorm room which has brand-new (and very spacious) beds. The owners have installed air-conditioning, a small seating area and lockers which made for a safe, comfortable stay :)||There's a handy convenience store very close and the hostel is located near to the riverside.||I took a Day Tour to see all of Battambang's attractions - our driver (called 'DJ') was amazing; friendly, knowledgeable and always smiling. The tour featured the Bamboo Train, a few awesome temples, and of course the Batcave at sunset - simply unmissable. His two sons joined us for the ride; they're great kids & it was so much fun to have them around for the day.||Both Annie & Stephan were incredibly helpful & friendly whenever I had a question or needed assistance with anything; Annie managed to organise my day tour only the night before. ||They were great hosts, and interacted with all guests to make sure they're happy with everything. Not to mention they make the BEST Greek gyros outside of Athens... I ate 4 of them : -p||Many thanks also to Kosta, Federica, Ashok and of course, the wonderful Mary J, for their excellent company during my stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect, close to the bus station and the central market. The room was cozy with enough storage room. The hotel owner is super friendly and when I forget my passport, he immediately sent it to my next hotel. This place is definitely the best money value in Battambang - we can totally recommend it 👍👍☺️

The lovely lady at the reception is very helpful and tries her best to help you, she is very nice. The place has a very chilled out and relax mood, everybody is very nice. They offer tours of half day and full day for 13-26$. Not very clean though. There are cats and dogs on the couch, bar counter, chairs, exc (not sure if they are stray or living there). Despite the 'No Smoking sign, everybody smokes inside, both weed and cigarettes. I don't mind it per se, but the smoke reaches the rooms and you get to sleep with weed or smoke smell. Also last floor is really really hot as it has glass walls and sun-exposed all day long, it becomes a hot chamber. During the night the fan is not enough to cool down the temperature and there are no double rooms with ac. Dust everywhere. Had it been cleaner we'd had stayed, but we changed hostel after one night.
