No other places would have such a view. It's breathtaking! View of the town covered with the terrace, the powerful looking fortress standing on the hilltop overlooking the town! And the Heritage hotel called Gangtey Palace facing down to these whole beautiful spot! The room are nice & the meals are good! But the view is just excellent! what is important is the ancient history of this property!

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a pleasant stay. The room we had was spacious enough. It was dated but charming. We liked its traditional decoration. The room was kept warm with a space heater. A small heater was also available in the bathroom which was a plus. The water pressure of the shower was good. There was plenty hot water but the water temperature was a bit difficult to adjust. Dogs barking could be heard at night but it was acceptable.||The hotel ground was nice. The view of the Rinpung Dzong and Ta Dzong was fantastic. There was an outdoor area where one could enjoy the view across the valley. Unfortunately, it was a bit cold for us to sit outside when we were there.||The staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged an early breakfast for us on the day of our hike to the Tiger’s Nest. The food was the usual fare but freshly cooked. Also, ask the staff to show you the small temple on the top floor of the central building which was worth a look.

Our room was quite comfortable and warm with the space heater and heater in bathroom. We had a brilliant view of Paro Dzong lit up at night. The views of the valley are stunning. Our electrical outlets worked, the bathroom (not shower, but shower had ‘normal’ shower head) looked a bit updated. Food is standard buffet for the area. The staff go out of their way to help. Make sure to visit the temple attached to the palace. This hotel is pure Bhutanese architecture and authenticity. Decent stay.

We stayed here as a group. It was our first accomodation during a 18-day trip, and the only one in a historic building, so here we got the whole package of typical bhutanese interiors, we otherwise only experienced in homestays: wooden flooring and a labyrinth of steep and somewhat uneven staircases (you have to get used to that anyway, the same goes for temples), small rooms with the typical trefoil window motifs, the room was cozy, and warm enough, thanks to working electrical heaters, and it's great to take a shower looking across the Paro valley, with full view on the Paro dzong. The buffet was standard fare, but the dining room has a spectacular view on the valley, the WiFi is a bit wonky. I agree with another reviewer, the walls are not sound-proof, so I could hear the neighbour's snoring, but I get it, the building is old, and soundproofing the rooms would take away their charm.

This hotel is in historical gouvernor's palace from the 19th century - made of woods and has amazing view to the town and its fortress. The kitchen and everything is great, except the walls are papir thin so one hears clearly every word or noise from the next room.|But the staff moved me to no-neighbours room, apologising in cannot be wormed imideately but in 30 minutes! Everywhere in Bhutan staff is unbelievably polite.

I selected the Gangtey Palace Hotel in Paro for two nights of our four-night stay in Bhutan. We may have been fortunate enough to get one of the really cool rooms on the second floor of the main building overlooking the city. The hotel is a pretty phenomenal heritage property with a long history. It’s been well maintained and provided comfortable accommodations (if not a bit funky at times). Views from the restaurant were very nice both day and night. There was a shortcut path that can get you from the hotel into downtown in probably less than a 15-minute walk. While there are many hotels to choose from, I think this unique property is certainly deserving of your stay given that you are not just going to another mainstream city for a visit.

Authentic Palance, beautiful original architecture and decor. Gorgeous views of the valley, Paro and ancient fort Our room was very big with amazing Bhutanese furnishing and artwork. The bathroom and electrical outlets (not all of them worked) could use some updating. The staff was wonderful, the food was very good. I highly recommend this hotel and Bhutan!

A great stay away from the hustle bustle of the city, the hotel is offers a luxurious stay amidst lush gardens bedecked with beautiful flora. The hotel is popular among the foreign crowd for it's authentic stay and a good spread of international cuisine ( especially keeping the spiciness in mind ) Staff is extremely courteous. The property is vast and overlooks the entire city of Paro. The sit out outside the reception area offers a good view of the gardens. The route from the main hotel complex to the restaurant is lined with benches offering glimpses of the the entire city. Overall a great stay! PS: The hotel is quite a climb from the city roads, most taxis overcharge for the ride.
