This Remote Hawaiian Island Has No Stoplights, No Crowds, and Two Ultra-luxe Hotels

"At this Lanai City staple, the Korean chicken is “full of flavor and savory and crunchy,” and the standard menu covers Kalbi short ribs, grilled fish, and shrimp tempura, with rotating lunch specials announced on Facebook and Instagram." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Google
The best salmon eggs Benedict I’ve ever had + really great service Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Google
Made a quick trip over this weekend and was about to leave, but I wanted to try a quick bite of whatever was open. Luckily Ganotisis was open! I’m ordered the Korean chicken and WOW! it was only a few pictures but it filled me up plenty! I ordered it with rice and mac salad and that was a great side to combine the chicken with. I also ordered the iced caramel macchiato with regular sweetness and it hit just right. I was able to eat outside and watch the sunset go down on this beautiful city. Definitely will come back and recommend to others

Google
Appreciate them being one of the few places open all day, especially on the weekend. Great selection of food, bakery items, and specialty drinks. Fantastic service and everything we had was great.

Google
Small family runners diner-cafe style. Ordered at register they bring food in environmental friendly to go paper boxes. I ordered adobo fried rice with 2sunny eggs. Be warned. That it is PORK adobo not chicken. It’s 3.5 stars decent My friend got spinach mushroom omelet with Portuguese sausage on side. Potatoes were blah. 3.5 Nice friendly aloha spirit. Wanted lunch menu but only breakfast at time.

Google
Good local food. You can tell everything is fresh and handmade. Enjoyed the Ribs. I am picky about my Kim Chi, and it was good here. Place was clean, the staff was friendly and the food was good.

Google
Oh. My. gAWD! Literally and I mean LiTERALLY the best Korean chicken and ribs I’ve EVER had. I am not sure what or how they season and cook this meat but is phenomenal. Don’t get me started on the fried oreo ala mode. All of it is ridiculously out of this world. If you are visiting Lāna‘I this restaurant is a MUST!

Joe L.

Google
The banana bread mochi might be the best mochi I’ve ever had… and I’ve been to Japan several times. The texture was really unique and the flavor was out of this world. The ube matcha boba was pretty damn good too. Oh, and the mac salad is the best you’ll find on island. Very friendly staff. Five stars all around 😋

Google
So a co-worker told me to try the salt& vinegar chicken wings with macaroni salad. SOOOOOO GOOOD if you love salt and vinegar chips then oh buddy having it on crispy chicken wings is ten times better. The homemade kimchi was delicious as well. Definitely will revisit and try other options!! Fresh food, friendly staff and great prices.

Yelp
This was one of our top meals of our Hawaii trip! We stopped in for lunch after visiting the cat sanctuary and loved every bite. Last visited in December 2023 and will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Monday April 14, 2025 first time, coming here. The last that I remember it was Cafe 565?? We came here for the Meat Jun and it was sold out. So, sad! We decided to get 2 Kalbi, Korean Chicken and a Parmesan Chicken that is not on the menu unless you ask. Total it was 87.00. I left $13.00 out of the $100.00 as tip. 15% tip. We ordered, we drove around to see the making of the dog park location that is almost finished and where the new colored electric homes in the neighborhood are done. Colored houses of blue, green, pink, purple and yellow. Then we went back. We parked right in front of the place. The girl brought out our order to the table. We talked about all the places that was there before them. We picked up our order and took it to the house to eat. The service was friendly and fast. The inside is hot and the outside eating area was cooler. But, we took it to go. The food was good. Hopefully, I get to try the Meat Jun before we leave Lanai City. Always support local as much as possible.

Yelp
We came here a few times during our stay in Lana'i. It is a very popular place and no matter when you go, there is a steady stream of customers. The food here is great. We had the spicy chicken sandwich and the cheeseburger plate. The sandwiches come with fries that are enough for two people, so we recommend getting only one side of fries and the other side to get a salad, since that is also pretty good. We had the papaya dressing with the salad and it was very fresh. We also had the guava tea with boba and the papaya mango smoothie. Their teas and smoothies are not too sweet, which is nice. The boba is fresh and they take the time to make it since we had to wait 7 minutes for our boba at one point. There are about 5 tables indoors and plants of seating outside. We really enjoyed this place, even though it was pricy, about $20 a plate, plus extra costs if you add something like a salad. Their blueberry cream cheese pastry was also very good and fresh. You can see them making their pastries fresh in house. You order at the counter and then wait for your order to be called. You need a key for the restroom, though the restroom could use a little more upkeep. It's a no frills kind of place but with plenty of options.

Yelp
While staying at Sensei, we decided to take a walk. About 20 minutes later we found a great restaurant choice in Lanai City. Of course in the evening there aren't that many places open. Thankfully Ganotisi's is! Liked - Kabli Ribs - Sensei Salad (add some grilled shrimp) - cabbage Kim chee: wish I could buy a barrel of it - friendly service - cooked to order So so - meat Jun : kinda dry but big portion This is a nice place to have some local food especially if you think there are limited options at your hotel. We are outside on the picnic type tables. Would definitely come back many times while we are there. Feels like family cooking for you.

Yelp
Ganotisi's is located in Lanai City on the Hawaiian island of lanai. We stopped in after a long day of exploring the island and ordered the fried Korean style chicken, banana bread and papaya and pineapple smoothie. Everything was wonderful! I especially enjoyed the smoothie and banana bread. The chicken was good as well. The Mac salad was a tuna fish Mac salad a nice twist on what I'm used to having. There is limited inside seating, but plenty of seating outside.

Yelp
Planned another golf trip out to Lāna'i w/ my Dad this past weekend. With limited dining options around the FS beach resort, we decided to explore Lāna'i city and discovered Ganotisi's. We arrived at around 1930 on a Wednesday to find the place packed with patrons. It is always 5-10 cooler in the city vs. at the beach resort so we luckily snagged a table inside. Since we were starving, we decided to start with the truffle fries along with 2 plates. The fries were fried to a perfect golden brown and were well seasoned. Honestly they didn't have much of a truffle flavor but were tasty nonetheless. We ordered the butter shrimp and the kalbi plate as our entrees. Honestly the butter shrimp was ok but the kalbi was hella tasty. This rivals some of the best. kalbi ribs even in LA. The mac salad was awesome but found the rice a bit too wet for my liking. As full as we were, decided to try the fried turon a la mode. This was just so so in my opinion as we have better turon here at Chaaste market in Pasadena. Wasn't a fan of their vanilla ice cream either as it was more icy than creamy. Food here was a welcome surprise and I'd say a better option than Lanai Grill up the street. Actually thought they were pretty generous on the portions and reasonably priced when compared to other options. We ended up coming back 2 nights later and tried the meat Jun which was interesting in a good way. We also tried the Korean fried chicken which was just ok (wished it was fried a bit longer to get more of a crispy texture).
google avatar

Melody D.

Yelp
This spot was good for breakfast considering what other options there was in town. The breakfast potatoes were the best I've tasted. Very crispy on the outside and soft inside and seasoned well. The portions are enough for 2-3 people. The service was very good and welcoming. The shop looked like an old Hawaiian vibe 100 years ago with an updated renovated look

Yelp
Great family owned and operated Filipino Restaurant serving flavorful local favorites. For lighter fare, they offer a Sansei Farms Salad with healthy mix of Lanai Greens. Everyone is very friendly and helpful! A woman in line behind us at Ganotisi's heard we were having trouble getting back to the Four Seasons Shuttle stop and called a taxi for us. Aunty Alberta de Jetley showed up a few minutes later and gave us a tour of the island. She is the author "Images of America: Lanai" and a great Lanai historian and tour guide.

Yelp
The pork chop stir with rice and macaroni salad was so simple yet incredibly flavorful that we had to go back a second time on another day to enjoy it again. I also tried the Korean chicken, which was good. Located in downtown Lanai, this spot served up some awesome food that left a lasting impression! Their kimchi was ok and nothing to rave about though
google avatar

Akemi O.

Yelp
Thought I reviewed them before, but I guess not. Always leave happy when I go there. This time, had additional renovations and counters so made the space to dine in smaller. No biggie since we rather eat outside. Super nice... their fries are fat so I always ask if they have skinny ones just in case. They had to check but they did and they were PERFECT. Crispy, nicely salted. Oh and the battered mahi good too! Hubs usually gets the S&V wings...he's always happy. And then he helped polish off my fries, so that helps me. My fave part of their plates (except I don't get it wtih the Fish & Chips) is their salad. They add artichoke and onions and is just a nice little salad.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
One of the few eateries on Lana'i, this is the place to be. Super chill vibe, and a surprising selection of food. Service was really good especially considering they probably deal w tourists 99% of the time. Chill vibes, much aloha. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Yelp
We landed at the Lanai airport around 1:00 p.m. so by the time we got to town, this was the only restaurant open for lunch. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, but there was only one menu available at the counter to look at, so we couldn't really decide until we got to the front of the line. Opted for a cheeseburger (delicious) and the Korean chicken (tasty but overcooked so the meat was pretty dry) and a Thai green milk tea (fabulous!). Salt and vinegar fries were very good. Kim chee cabbage was tasty, Mac salad fairly bland. There are a few tables for seating inside, but it was so hot and sticky, we opted to sit outside and they brought our food to the table. This is a simple, no frills place. Prices very reasonable for Hawaii and the amount of food you get.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't have any photos since everything got eaten so quickly. Food here is so delicious and you can't go wrong with either normal menu or specials. I didn't have the nerve to try the balut, maybe next time. Staff is very nice and patient with any questions. It can get a little hot inside but there is outside seating and the park is just across the street. It's kind of random but some of the best gosh & chips I've had for a while but really everything we ate was great!
google avatar

Loreta N.

Yelp
Great local food!! Asian Fusion indeed!! Wonderful neighborhood friendly POLISHED establishment! A great balance of old school and new in food and ambience! The family style service is outstanding- very kind and welcoming! As 1st generation Waray- waray Filipina growing up with one foot in America and one in Eastern Samar - I was right at home!
google avatar

Jesse R.

Yelp
Honestly, always hitting the spot when I come back home. The prices are pricing, but it's worth it! We got the Korean Chicken, Meat Jun, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Vinegar Wings and boba! The Korean chicken is probably my favorite because it is very crispy and the sauce is always hitting. The vinegar wings were okay, it doesn't have the best portion for the price given, but it was still good. The drinks here are awesome considering that Lanai doesn't have much places that serve drinks like this. The service was great, and it's always clean here! 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Delicious Food, Casual Setting [Lānai] Ganotisi's is located in Lānai City. After we were dropped off by the island shuttle in downtown we looked around for a place to eat and we saw Ganotisi's first. The restaurant served a blend of Filipino comfort food, local eats and a rotating menu. So much good food and I really wanted a rice plate but the hubby and I were just going to split a meal and he was trying to steer clear of rice so we compromised and got a Ganotisi's Cheeseburger LoL! We wouldn't be able to finish our food if we each got a full meal. The burger was huge and delicious and my half completely filled me up so it was perfect. Had to have room for dessert and we shared a halo halo. So yummy and refreshing although the weather in Lānai was not too hot at 77°. Halo halo is good at any season. In fact, that afternoon, before we left the island going back to Maui, we came back again for more dessert... another Halo halo and for me the Deep Fried Oreos A La Mode (a bit too sweet... my doctor's going to be upset with me). The restaurant is kept clean and has plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor patio seating with huge umbrellas. If you can't find a table at the restaurant Dole Park is just right across the street. Great experience at this restaurant! Review #2685
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
The cheeseburger is huge! It has an awesome onion and bacon sauce and loaded with toppings. The french fries are crisp to perfection. Friendly staff with a quaint little seating area inside, plus outdoor seating.

Yelp
Clean and In order *refreshing feel yet old town ambiance Friendly Smiles *Quik service Awesome menu selection Winnah winnah * Korean Chicken!2x * Salt n Pepper Chicken * Shrimp Tempura It was soo good we ate twice, first trip here we did Take Away plates and ate in our room at the FS Manele. Second trip after our 4x4 island adventure we stopped in and ate inside. Seems the kids of Lanai City enjoys their fries and hanging out in a safe feel environment . Mahalo nui loa - thank you very much piha ka ʻōpū - The stomach is full

Yelp
Sweet place on a small island. Good variety of food. Garlic chicken was awesome, but if you're not into peeling shrimp you should probably get something else. The garlic Parmesan fries were amazing- crispy, flavorful, with strips of cheese. Super friendly service. Was so happy they had Halo Halo, and it didn't disappoint.

Yelp
Ganotisi's Pacific Rim Cuisine in Lāna'i City is a locally owned and operated family business. It is a dining experience that will leave you craving for more! I ordered the Kalbi Short Ribs are it is an absolute must-try. Tender and had lots of flavor. The marinade infuses the meat with a perfect balance of sweetness and umami. To complement your meal, their Milk Tea is a refreshing and indulgent choice. Creamy, smooth, and expertly brewed. The boba itself had a nice brown sugar flavor and it was the perfect amount of chewiness. The staff at Ganotisi's is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is inviting, making it a wonderful spot for a memorable meal with family and friends. For an exceptional fusion feast, make sure to visit Ganotisi's Pacific Rim Cuisine in Lāna'i City.

Yelp
After getting the Ferry from Maui and the shuttle Bus service dropped us off, my friend and I were hungry. This was the first place we saw off the shuttle but also on this holiday weekend late afternoon it was the only thing open. So after walking around Lanai City we got a late lunch here. I got a cheeseburger and finished the whole thing. Service here was fast and friendly. I wish I had saved room for some dessert. Very casual place has indoor and outdoor seating. Only complaint was they had 1 restroom. Would have been nice if they had more than one.
google avatar

Jordan F.

Yelp
Been coming here multiple times on my trip every time I come to Lanai! Great food and dessert drinks! The garlic shrimp is always a must for me! The spicy chicken sandwich is another great dish and the chicken katsu with dynamite sauce. The service is great and ask for specials, they aren't always posted up. I would call ahead or go early as they get packed later in the night

Yelp
Pro-tip: The food takes awhile so I wouldn't recommend if you're in a rush. It's just a window to order food from, so plan to eat it elsewhere. We had ours by the park just down the street. Highlights: The combo plate was pretty delicious especially the meats. I also enjoyed the variety of vegetables that were in the salad. Lowlights: It's unfortunately pretty pricey since there aren't many restaurants - I was shocked the salad was $18 without any protein. I would highly discourage ordering the halo halo, it wasn't very good and just sickly sweet with more liquid than ingredients.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the great locally owned restaurants in the heart of Lana'i City (right across from Dole Park and next to the grocery stores). Ganotisi's serves a blend of Filipino comfort food, teas, lemonades, and a rotating menu. I had their Sensei Farms Green Salad, a side order of Regular Fries, and one of their specialty fruit teas. The portions are larger than I was initially expecting but well worth the rather expensive prices. Great service overall and the food is delicious and fresh! I'll be back the next time I get to visit Lana'i. As of April 2023, they have both indoor and outdoor patio seating with large umbrellas, or you can even go to the benches across the street at Dole Park.
google avatar

Yelp
korean chicken so good i came back to get another plate!! boneless skin on chicken piece. holy moly the flavors and texture are just bomb.com. they are very generous with the portion too. butter garlic was good. guava green tea is a must get. so so refreshing. good plate to bring to the beach as well. i love that the chicken stays crunchy throughout the day. would definitely visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious kimchi fried rice (and a huge serving!) and my delightful first-ever encounter with mochi malasadas. Show up prepared for your food to take a while and you'll be richly rewarded.
google avatar

Lianni L.

Yelp
Salamat Aunties & Uncles for some great grub here on the island of Lanai. The food was delicious just as it looks! Everything we had was great and we all felt like the pricey were fairly reasonable for the type of food we got and the amount of food we got. This family owned restaurant is wonderful and all the staff is so sweet and nice. Definitely a must go and a go to when we come back and visit beautiful Lanai.
google avatar

Diomedes L.

Yelp
This is the first place we went when our shuttle bus took us on our stop. Downtown Lanai..... or town of Lanai City. Me and my wife was pretty hungry when we got here. You see we had to get up early that day and trudge to Lahaina from Kihei where we stay and it was about 30-40 minutes drive, then we had another 45 minutes ferry ride across the channel.....then when we got there, since we didn't reserve for the shuttle , we had to request the shuttle driver if they can take us up to the town. Good thing they alway have extra shuttle buses or vans schedules from designated stops. Anyway, we learned earlier on our trip we can't finish our food individually and taking it home with us from this island is a no no. It will be just in a way so we decided to share a meal. Since I'm on a low carbo high fiber diet (doctors order) I have to refrain from eating a lot of rice and I believe the night before I had some rice . I feel bad that we decided to just got a cheeseburger and fries (non local food) but the portions of it was big enough that it satisfied our hunger... and had enough room for halo halo. We came back later on and had more desserts. I got her some Oreo deep fried ice cream and I had another halo halo . I think the Oreo fried ice cream was too sweet for her. Anyway, this may have been our highlight on this one day trip at lanai island...... next time molakai here we come

Moana L.

Yelp
Went to Ganotisi last Tuesday for dinner and had their delicious salt and vinegar wings. It comes with rice and macaroni salad. I substituted the rice for a green salad. Be aware that there is a $2.50 upgrade charge (which I wish they told me at the time I was ordering). Also had their halohalo and that was also 'ono. Went back on Thursday for a 2 eggs your way breakfast. It comes with rice but I asked them to not give me any. Service was very friendly and fast. Prices were very reasonable. I would definitely eat here again!
google avatar

Sophie L.

Yelp
Hands down get the garlic butter shrimp. Reminds me of Romy's on Oahu. The li hi mui tea is pretty sweet, even at half sweetened, so try asking for even less sugar. They have indoor and order seating available. Online hours days they're closed between 10-11 to transition between breakfast and lunch, but they're still open.

Valerie H.

Yelp
Delicious food . . . Awesome friendly staff . . . Clean & pleasant restaurant. Love this place!

Chi Hin C.

Yelp
Good food with good service! Tried their cheeseburger and wasn't disappointed at all. The fries were really crispy and good as well. Would definitely come back next time.
google avatar

Randi S.

Yelp
The food here is so good. The shrimp is so fresh. The fries and burgers are also really really really good. They offer lots of boba tea as well. Worth going to Lanai just for this place
google avatar

Hi'ilani M.

Yelp
In love with their brown sugar boba tea Other drinks I recommend too would be the: White Dragonfruit Lemonade Orange Dreamsicle Strawberry Shortcake And Strawberry Cream Pie As for the food I haven't tried anything from the breakfast menu but I have tried things from the lunch menu. Here are the items that I've tried that do not disappoint: Grilled pork tomato onion And the The cheeseburger with a side of dynamite fries (the dynamite fries are a chef's kiss) Looking forward to trying out more items!!! I really hope they extend the dessert menu though, although deep fried Oreos and fried ice cream, lumpias and halo halo are great options I would like to see a more extended dessert menu
google avatar

Yelp
If you're on Lana'i and looking for good food for lunch and/or dinner, this is the place! Our taxi driver told us this was the most expensive restaurant on the island but average $20 a plate is not expensive like you think. We hit up this place for dinner the last three nights on the island and would have continue coming back if we were staying longer. Kalbi short ribs and Korean chicken were to die for! Portion are big so you technically can share. But we didn't! The salad was bomb and we were sad we didn't get to try their burgers. Oh, do not skip on the fries, could have eaten 2 of those! If you can't decide on one thing, you can do a combo plate. It's not listed on their menu, but you can choose two sides for your plate, rice, Mac salad, green salad (the dressing, you will want to drink it up) or Kim chi. They also serve breakfast! Give this local family own business a visit if you're in Lana'i. Follow them on IG for specials. Ube stuffed pancakes??!! Promise your will come back any chance your get!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Great food and service! Not many food options on Lanai but if you want to try some Filipino local food, give this spot a try
google avatar

Erik S.

Yelp
Had the spicy chicken sandwich. Perfectly crispy and perfectly spiced. Everything tastes fresh and great. Definitely the place to eat in Lanai City.

Ross P.

Yelp
We went for breakfast and for dinner! Both options were wise, very good food. Family vibes and very friendly staff. Homestyle feel in an old style Hawaiian building in the town square across from the park. Must stop here for food!
google avatar

Maryann K.

Yelp
I know this is a Phillipino food restaurant but they had the best sounding salad in town and that's what I was craving. Ordered a great salad made with local greens and added shrimp. Tasty and fresh. Flavorful dressing too. Quick service on the order - 15 mins for the salad. Yum!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
As a vegetarian, I was a little sad looking at the menu and not seeing anything besides a salad option. However, upon request they were able to find a veggie burger for me and it was very good! It was a patty made with a taro and brown rice mix and it was moist and really hit the spot with their fries. Was also nice to have a clean bathroom to use before heading out for the rest of the day to explore the island

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
Food here is awesome. Always the go to place when on Lanai. The staff is super friendly and the Korean chicken and garlic shrimp combo plate hits the spot every time.

Melinda G.

Yelp
Delicious food and such nice employees! Thank you for the warm welcome and amazing dinner on Christmas Eve!
google avatar

Jesse A.

Yelp
From Los Angeles, and we made our way to Lanai City to check out the locals and small eats around. Man, this place was good. It felt very authentic with its Filipino roots and Asian pacific rim cuisine. I had the Garlic Butter Shrimp and that hit the spot. They show love with the shrimps. My lady grabbed a plate of the kbbq style short ribs and man was that fire to. Just like how they make it back in LA but more authentic to it. Definitely a place to eat when you're visiting the island and also support them, there just as good. Going back for seconds.
google avatar

Konalani C.

Yelp
I think they have the best food on the island. Their Kalbi ribs are my fav! Rice and kimchi (home made) is very good. Meat is fresh and cooked perfectly. Family owned and they are all very nice. I look forward to eating their when visiting Lanai. Also their boba teas are good too!

D I.

Yelp
Locals will tell you it's some of the best grinds in the isle. They aren't joking. From apps to deserts, they have got it down. Chef used to work for one of the resorts (take a wild guess) and now has his own kitchen. You have to get the garlic shrimp. Sensei salad was perfect, the papaya dressing we couldn't get enough of. The halo-halo is not overly sweet and is full of fresh fruit as well. Great family business and it's nice watching all the keiki's involved as well.

Elle E.

Yelp
Amazing food and fresh ingredients. One of our favorite eats in town. The chicken wings and burgers are super solid. Big fan of the Korean fried chicken as well. They also have the best boba on the island, it's competition for some of the mainland boba I've had. The only negative is the food takes forever, but it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Haven't been to Lanai in a couple years. Found that Ganotisi's took over this spot and decided to give it a shot. Plus our regular place is no longer open for dinner. Menu seems small but the dishes are big on taste. Very busy kitchen that seems well choreographed. Everyone had their assignments and they performed them well. Our group ordered an assortment of dishes. I tried the local favorite of Korean Chicken with rice and mac. Mac is short for macaroni salad. Speaking of the mac salad, they add tuna in it. It's been so long since I've had mac salad with tuna, old school and I loved it. The chicken was twice fried and kept its crispy skin on it. Terrific taste with the right amount of soy and spice. Another night I tried the meat jun plate. This one was a little lacking as it was too well done. I would recommend they change this to a breaded teriyaki plate instead. Then I tried the grilled pork with tomato and onions. Again the pork was too well done and almost dry. Good amount of tomato and onions. Overall, I liked what they were serving, speed of service was good and the food was tasty, just a little adjustment to the well doneness would be nice. Portions are large and filling. Next time I need to try their desserts! Recommend this place.

SasquatchJerky _.

Yelp
Very good food. If you're gluten free you can basically eat the garlic shrimp but make sure they don't add soy sauce even on the side. This shouldn't be a problem because their garlic shrimp is amazing and I ate it multiple times. I suggest getting it peeled and deveined because even though it's smaller it's way less work and the shell-on ones have the poop vein in them

Yelp
Incredible food! My wife and I stopped in today for lunch before hitting the cat sanctuary. The short ribs and spicy chicken salad were amazing. I would highly recommend visiting. Be patient as the food is cooked fresh so don't be in a huge rush. Only took about 15 minutes.
