What a great place, a relaxing oasis in the middle of everything. Everybody from the reception to the waiter was very helpgul. Nice rooftop terrace where one can have breakfast/lunch/dinner weather permitting. My room with balcony and Ganges view was very stylishly decorated. The only downside was that the sound insulation towards the small courtyard where people were passing by was almost nonexistent. But would come again any time.

Wow, what an amazing guest house. We arranged for a pick up from the airport and the car and driver were there to meet us. Cars can’t come right to the guest house so we were met by 2 porters to carry our bags the last 10 minutes. And what an experience that walk was. This place is incredible and so glad we didn’t need to navigate it in our own. The property is right on the Ganges and a 5 minute walk from the Aarti Ceremony. We booked a superior room with balcony overlooking the Ganges. Incredible. I’ve never stayed at a property so immersive in the culture. We are here in June and it’s 40 degrees. Thank goodness the rooms are air conditioned plus there’s a fan. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and the tours they offer are well priced. We did a sunset cruise with ceremony, sunrise tour plus a walking tour. Loved them all. Don’t waste time looking for anything better. You must stay here. It ticks all the boxes but don’t expect a 5 star hotel. You are paying for the location and experiences.

I’m really glad I picked to stay at Ganpati. It’s located right in the heart of the ghats in the pedestrian zone so very easy to walk along the ghats. The staff were very lovely and helpful, the food was great and especially the rooftop terrace overlooking the river. I’d go for the best room type you can as mine was pretty small, but overall a great stay.

Very disappointed by the hotel which does not correspond to the other opinions on which I had based myself: the photos must be 20 years old because the paint, especially the exterior, is very faded and the price is not in line with the comfort of the hotel. My bathroom was rather rudimentary. In addition, I had a problem with theft of clothing which is still serious and a package which was delivered to me at the hotel with valuables disappeared even though the post office provided me with confirmation of receipt (day and time). I absolutely do not recommend this hotel

Location is great. Loved getting to the hotel and seeing the Ganges from our room. ||A few tips for those coming to stay and also experience the Old Town. ||Varanasi is like no where else I have ever been or explored in the World. ||Ganpati was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the Ghats and also of the new town. |Staff were super helpful. We opted to be collected from the Train station and also porter service. |Absolutely no issues. The staff are great. ||We booked a sunrise boat row and while our boat rower had little english it was nice and peaceful and a great way to see the ghats. ||Everyone is on the hustle in Varanasi and it gets exhausting!! But escape back to Ganpati, have a feed on the rooftop and you’re ready to do it all again. ||There is so much to explore and experience. |Dilip gave us a walking tour of the Old Town and explained some of the local customs and what we really enjoyed was the pace, nothing was rushed or we never felt hurried. ||If you’re looking for 5stars, well this place is lived and loved in, it’s clean and comfortable. Yeah some of the fixtures are old and need replacing, but I really don’t think I would have enjoyed Varanasi as much if I stayed elsewhere. ||Expect some noise, bells and the Rowdy French who slam a few doors when they are off for a sunset row.

Gorgeous setting in the old city, restaurant and a few rooms have lovely river views. Comfy beds, decent shower. Food was great and good value. It's not advertised but you can get a Kingfisher too. |Staff really helpful. A good place to step out of the bonkerness of the old city.

This is a good hotel for those looking to stay near the ghats. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and neat. They have a restaurant which is decent though not many options it’s fine. Staff are reasonably courteous. Can be considered by families or travelers who are are particular about clean rooms and bathrooms 😊
