I remember being on my flight back from Vietnam in the spring, watching a Anthony Bourdain No Reservations episode in Sapporo on the 10 inch TV on the back of a headrest. “Damn I would love to go there,” I said to myself as he slurped Sapporo style ramen while describing how it’s served with corn and butter. That summer I met with a friend who detailed how he was playing basketball in Sapporo next year. The connection clicked for me, and he said to come visit anytime. “Don’t play with me I’m king pull up…” I responded. Fast forward to winter and I found myself in the famous Ramen Alley in Sapporo, slurping a bowl of Sapporo style ramen with corn and butter. It’s funny how life works like that sometimes. I went to a couple different spots here out of 17 different ramen shops, but my favorite was Teshikaga Ramen. It was the best bowl of ramen I’ve ever had, and in the purest ramen weather. Cold weather where you can barely feel your nose while the snow falls lightly outside. It was spiritual. There’s even a sign on one of the restaurants that reads “Anthony Bourdain came to the here,” which cracked me up. RIP Legend. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Went there in the morning at 11. Most shops still closed. There are already long queues for the most popular joints there (Haruka and Teshikaga). There are about 10 ramen shops there. If you want to go to the most popular ones be prepared to queue for hours. My recommendation is to try other shops there without the queues. The quality are great for every shops there and there are some unique flavors as well like ebi or clam broth ramens.

Another breed of Ramen that is lightly salted with a thin soup. Miso based ramen that blends the flavor of green onion, monggo sprout and salt. Noodle is yellow instead of the white ramen noodles. I ordered the buttered miso while most of my friends had the original Miso. The butter taste makes the soup milky and in my opinon, makes it very smooth. The chef is very nice and friendly.

Experience the taste of authentic Miso Ramen from different Ramen shops along this alley. All great tasting .. shouldn't miss this on your visit to suzukino area.

Go there for the experience and vibe. A very narrow alley with different ramen shops lining both side of the alley. Some were more popular than others. The one we chose was ok, not the best. It has limited seating , 7 max if I remember correctly. So if you are going in a big group, it can be a challenge.

Walk through the alley to find which Ramen Noodle shop speaks to you! It is a narrow alley with small shops but there are plenty of choices.

only 1 small corridor (alley) that consists of several Ramen Stores with long queues. unique & must try at least once!

Touristy but worth it. I can't remember the place we ate but I think they are all good. Highly recommended it, but it can get very, very crowded.

Yelp
The Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho, sometimes referred to as Ramen Alley, was something I was very excited to explore during my time in Sapporo. Featuring ~17 ramen shops in a rather small, narrow alleyway, this place is often considered the pillar of Sapporo's miso ramen culture. And, being that Sapporo is the birthplace of miso ramen, I would absolutely consider this a must-visit spot when traveling to Hokkaido. While I didn't get to try as many spots as I would have liked, I was very impressed with what I saw and what I tasted. Most of the restaurants are tiny, with only a small handful of seats, making it a difficult dining destining for larger groups. Luckily, the 4 of us were able to sit together at Shimijimi/Shimizimi Clam Ramen and enjoy a delicious meal together. If traveling to Sapporo, definitely make an effort to check this place out!

Yelp
Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho / Susukino (Sapporo) -- When Jamie W and I traveled to Sapporo for the second time, I knew we had to pay a visit to the famous Ramen Alley. I'm actually not that huge a fan of ramen, but Sapporo is famous for being the birthplace of miso ramen. So of course, we needed to get our bowls, and where better than this busy operation to order them? It's hard to miss because the alley is smack dab in the middle of Susukino, Sapporo's counterpart to Tokyo's Shinjuku entertainment district. It's a narrow, covered hallway housing 17 different ramen houses. Each shop is independently run with its own hours of operation. I couldn't tell you the nuances between them, but we lucked out with our pick, Teshikaga (review: https://yelp.to/bhWBalhdzn). We didn't do eenie-meanie-miney-mo, we just noticed they had two open stools at the counter so we grabbed them. Fortunately miso ramen was their specialty, so both of us had their signature bowl, the ¥1,380 Grilled Pork Ramen Miso Soup, a very robust bowl with a rich miso broth and grilled pork lending deep umami flavor (photo: https://yelp.to/Sam8vGQRSC). One down, 16 more to go. RELATED - Exploring Japan? Here's my collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2qrUBZo

Yelp
Ganso Ramen Yokocho Sapporo(AKA Ramen Alley) was something I had to experience in Sapporo as I am a ramen freak. I imagined a winding cobblestone street, dimly lit lanterns, interiors camouflaged with rice paper doors lit up by their interior incandescent lighting - then reality hit... EXPERIENCE: Literally a narrow, linear alley in between two low rise buildings, half a block long, finished with modern tile floors, gaudy signage and no charm. I counted 17 shops in which about half were open when we visited at 2pm on a Monday. Shops on one side occupy the footprint of the actual building, while the other side is an added afterthought and is built up against the opposing building which creates the alley's narrowness. I was in the mood for shoyu broth and 3 shops offered them. The rest were miso or tonkotsu broths. I chose Tenhou Ramen as the pictures of their shoyu broth were darkest in color and they had no line. OVERALL: Not really a must-see as better ramen can be found across the city. Check in, take a photo and move on.

Yelp
One of the top things to do in Sapporo is to visit "Ramen Alley." There are lots of ramen restaurants to choose from, but it's hard to figure out which one to go to. The hours vary at each restaurant and not all the items are available. We ended up going to Miso Gin which was pretty solid for a ramen with a chicken soup base.

Yelp
Sapporo is known as the birth place of miso ramen, so ramen is a must. The yokocho (alleyway) is in the entertainment district of Susukino. There are 17 ramen restaurants in the alley. I went with Sapporo Ramen Haruka- highly recommend!

Yelp
I was determined to get some good ramen in Sapporo, so I made my way to Ganso Ramen Yokocho with my mother and cousin on a frosty Wednesday night at the end of January. This Ramen Yokocho, or Ramen Alley, was exactly what it sounded like, an alley full of ramen shops a short walk from Susukino Station. It was easy to spot, with a bright, colorful sign at its entrance. The alley was short, but there were almost twenty individual shops in there, most of them tiny and crowded with people. I would've found the number of choices overwhelming, but we'd come with a recommendation for Shimijimi and its clam ramen. That place was full, so we ended up waiting outside, in the alley, surrounded by the rest of the restaurants. It was actually a cute, pleasant place to wait despite the cold, the whole alley crowded with signs and menus and the general glorification of all things ramen. Shimijimi was phenomenally good. I don't know if it was really the best one or if every shop here is on the same level (there isn't much online about Shimijimi). If I lived in Sapporo, I'd make a point of finding out through rigorous research. I'm a little sad I was only able to try this one spot.

Yelp
When I found out this alleyway existed, I knew I had to go...as a ramen connoisseur, it is my duty! Arriving at the area, I knew it was going to be a tight spot but I didn't think it was going to be that narrow. The hall of the alleyway was wide enough for a solid two person squeeze. As you walk through the alleyway, you'll pass by a lot of ramen shops of many different varieties. I've noticed there 2 or 3 ramen shops that were depreciated to a Hokkaido style of ramen that consists of a seafood brothe which I unfortunately was not able to try as I already ate another ramen spot in the alleyway which till this day, I regret quite deeply that I didn't at least try it. I'm glad I went during the late evening as I read online that this alleyway gets quite packed and the wait is usually quite long so please plan ahead of time if you decide to come here. The ramen shop I went to seem like your typical traditional ramen shop which is usually my typical go to when I go out for ramen. I ordered the roasted miso ramen and oh...my...frucking...god.. it was soooooo good! The brothe is excellent, dense and rich in flavor, the chasu pork was tender and flavorful and the condiments complemented well with the dish as a whole. 10 out of a 10! If you're a lover of ramen like me, I highly recommend you come here if you ever decide to go to Sapporo!
