Great local bookstore within walking distance of the Santa Fe Plaza. Though a small bookstore,it has a variety of book genres which will suite a wide audience. There is a section with a Santa Fe focus and a nice selection of blank greeting cards with local artist’s designs. I recommend it to anyone who visiting Santa Fe and staying near Canyon Road or the Plaza. Be sure to check it out!

Great little bookstore, especially if you're in need of putting together a quick gift-bag. Good selection of books including banned books & queer authors 🌈🌈🌈Jigsaw puzzles, mugs, & local author's books (some signed)! Great & generous rewards program too 📚

We visited GSB on a Sunday morning. The store is an independent bookstore, which is my favorite kind. They carry new books (not used), and a small assortment of additional products (tote bags, bookmarks, etc). The bookstore is small so there’s not a super wide-ranging selection. I wouldn’t recommend going to GSB with a certain book in mind you’re trying to find. It’s better to go and browse and see what strikes your fancy. In the half hour or so we were there, we found five books to buy for $94.32 including tax. One was an analysis of Snape, the Harry Potter character, by author Lorrie Kim. It was aptly named ‘Snape: The definitive analysis of Hogwarts's mysterious potions master’. Go check GSB out. They’ve got a free book cart outside for a suggested small donation, plus sections inside to peruse.

This is a lovely fun book store. The worker (owner?) was friendly and recommended a few books, most of which I already read. I did find a new one with her help. I'll definitely go back next time I am in Santa Fe. ❤️❤️

This independent bookstore has an extensive variety of books. I came in to browse with nothing particular in mind and came away with a book about the 17th century Pueblo Revolt in New Mexico. I am not a local, so I was excited to find a book that would let me learn more about such a fascinating time in Santa Fe’s history. This bookstore is also adjacent to a coffee shop that has an excellent outdoor patio and garden space….a winning combo!

Cute book store. I especially liked how thoughtfully it was arranged with ample space to sit and read as well. Also the big attraction is the cute pupper!

I have been visiting Garcia Street Books since I was a child, and I love it just as much as an adult. It's a cozy local book shop with lovely staff, great selection and recommendations, and organized in a tidy and appealing way. If they don't have what you need in stock, they will offer to order it for you. Love this place.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised to discover this place over Thanksgiving weekend. Not the biggest bookstore, but the selection is fantastic. It also has a very friendly staff. After only one visit it might be my favorite bookstore in NM.

Yelp
Disappointed the Local section was very small. Would like to support local bookstores that embrace local Authors.

Yelp
i know independent booksellers are a dying breed.....this one deserves to die....they hav a an antiquated frequent buyer system that refuses to allow you to redeem unless you show up with the written document....and if you lose it ...too bad for you...what happened to customer service....get with it or be the dinasour also the parking there is a joke....don't try it....there are better independents in Santa Fe

Yelp
Nine Buddhist books. I wish I could consult with them to increase it to 20 essential classics. They have good fiction, art and children's sections. A book on big butts caught my eye. They have a Santa Fe non-fiction section. The psychology section was a bit weak, in my opinion. My dad liked it, "interesting art and fiction books, you can see stuff you don't see elsewhere." The counter woman greeted me, seemed pleasant.

Yelp
Great independent bookstore on a small plaza, with a broad and eclectic choice (arts, Santa Fe and NM, literature...etc), which we discovered by chance after an afternoon stroll along Canyon Road galleries. I bought Sam Shepard's "Seven Plays" and a couple of NM postcards, then went to have an excellent tea at the adjacent and roomy "Downtown Subscription" café and bakery. Nice place to spend the end of an afternoon, whether sunny or not.

Yelp
Remember how you felt about bookstores when you were a kid? The anticipation as you came in and started looking around to see what was new, the surprise and delight at unexpected finds? Those supremely magical new combinations of color, words and ideas that drew you in, kept you standing and reading and looking at pictures until you sighed and bought the book? That feeling happens to me here. Garcia Street Books is a real bookstore. The titles and topics are contemporary, international, although they have a small kids section in back with Tintin and Asterix among others. There's a nice selection of literature, art, design, and other thoughtful categories. Their art books are particularly strong. They favor the tabletop array for many of their books: one or two copies of each, paving the tables, seducing you with visuals. Outside are several tables and racks with more interesting books, all new but discounted. They are happy to do special orders, they host book readings with local authors, and they know deep background on cultural and literary themes. They are next door to another locals fave, the Downtown Subscription coffeeshop, who carries a great range of periodicals to balance the books next door. Lots of people can be found drifting between both. I give them four stars instead of five because their selection of odd mysteries and humorous writing is a bit skimpy for my taste. But their knack for gorgeous and fascinating books of other kinds almost makes up for that!

Yelp
It's a small space, so of course they can't stock everything, but there are a few helpful and kind people who work there and what they don't have, they'll order, of course. I manage to find what I want enough of the time to make a trip or a call worth it. I wish people would stop their whinging, sure the parking lot sucks, but it's not their fault. Blame it on the SUVs.
