The room was dated but decently clean. The shower pressure was good, but the temperature fluctuated. The very squeaky door to the room was fixed after I mentioned it. The light flickered in the bathroom in a creepy way, but I forgot to mention that until my last day. The buffet breakfast for $25 was terrible. Selection was poor, and quality was low. The 2 major positives to me were a memory foam pillow and being so far from other parts of the city, which means that there isn't much light pollution, so you can get a great view of the sky. I did feel safe here, and the young man at reception was very pleasant and helpful.

Great place to stay. Had a room overlooking the pool. We did not use the pool this time but definitely will use the next stay. Nice size room, comfy bed, lounge, small fridge and had reverse cycle air conditioner. Bathroom was a little small but ok and great water pressure. All the staff were polite and friendly. Plenty of car space to park. About 100 metres from the German Club. Very quiet area but probably would need a car to get around. Not far from DFO. Very good value for money

We stayed over the weekend and had a pleasant stay but not once but twice was I ignored by a blonde female staff member at the reception desk. Twice I stood in front of her and she did not even raise her eyes from the computer let alone speak to me to say ‘ someone will be with you in a minute’….. or something to that affect to acknowledge she knew I was standing a foot away from her. The second time she muttered another staff member’s name and he came running from the back room. He was actually incredibly helpful (Bobby I think the name was) and he was pleasant both when we checked in and out. The woman on the other hand needs to learn some manners and a little about customer service. I totally understand she was probably busy, but a simple acknowledgment would|have sufficed. ||Unfortunately I don’t think we will stay again. Which is disappointing as we were attending a large annual event at the Club next door.

We visit Canberra a few times a year and have stayed in quite a few motels. Garden City is the best mid range by far and we will be returning. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with good beds and large thick towels. The fact that we each had a comfortable chair to sit in was a winner for us. The location is convenient for car travel and at the end of the day you can dine in Monday to Thursday or walk to the German Club next door any day. Highly recommended, Best Western offers good value for money.

Took 1 hour and a half for my dinner to arrive. No staff helped to find out why. I like the butter chicken but it is way overpriced for the small size.||I have regularly stayed here and have had issues the last four times. I will never stay with you again.

I stayed at the Garden City Hotel for one night recently while visiting friends in the area. This is the third hotel I have tried in the Narrabundah area (the first being the Ibis Styles, the second the Abode) and this is my favourite of the 3.||The price was amazing, which was the main driver of selecting this over the Abode (which is next door). Check in was fast, friendly and efficient. There was no credit card surcharge for payment, which is a great benefit given that most other hotels will add a surcharge.||The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was available however we didn't have it at the hotel. There is a bar, but it is only open from Monday to Thursdays. The room was air conditioned, which worked well, and the water pressure and temperature in the shower was great.||There is ample parking outside the hotel, and a swimming pool in the central courtyard. The staff were friendly.||I rated the hotel as 4 stars because while I had a good experience it is quite dated, and provides a basic hotel experience only. It is good for an overnight stay and I would happily stay here again, but it is definitely not spectacular, and apart from the nearby German club, requires a car to get to anything.||I recommend it for a short stay at an affordable price.

I don’t know where to start from. Room was an absolute shocker for me and my husband. The pictures they have posted online don’t match when you see them live. There was a very unpleasant smell in the entrance, throughout the hall way to the rooms. Room was very small, was not cleaned properly. There were tissues in the bedroom bin and the toilet bin already. The cups, glasses and the spoons were dirty. When I told the guy in reception about the cup, he was not interested in swapping. He was like oh ok bring the cup downstairs and I will swap it for you, seriously? Why did I pay $154 for? Never going back there again. The receptionist was rude.

I chose this accommodation because it had a restaurant so we could after a long day driving just eat there, but it is not open Friday-Sunday nights for dinner! There is no mention of opening hours on their website. The desk clerk argued with me that the hours were on the website, but he couldn’t find it either when I showed him the website. It is not within walking distance of any restaurants except the German Club, which I have to say was the only thing that turned this situation into a positive. Eat at the German Club people, it was fabulous food!

Yelp
I'm actually a fan of this daggy hotel! I only ever stay for one night for business, but you can always rely on the reception staff for good ol' fashioned customer service. They offer you a small carton of milk when you arrive. It's located out of the Parliamentary Triangle (just) but it's affordable, immaculately tidy and "homely". If you've stayed at the Forrest Hotel/Apartments, this is MUCH better. Free WIFI, great customer service, restaurant/room service as expected - pretty average (even found a hair in my meal once, but it happens :S) - go out for dinner! Looks like a hospital upon entry, but don't worry the beds are more comfortable! Will be back.
