My husband and I stayed at Garden Court Victoria Junction (V&A area). Overall, the stay was pleasant, comfortable, and well managed, supported by genuinely friendly and attentive staff.
A sincere thank you to Achuma and Jade at the front desk, who were welcoming, efficient, and thoughtful throughout our stay, including ensuring our room was ready and arranging a lovely birthday message and cake for my husband. Zetu from housekeeping was exceptional, consistently friendly and attentive, and ensured our room was kept to a high standard. A special mention as well to the concierge/security guards, who were consistently present, courteous, and proactive in assisting guests with lifts and luggage.
I appreciated how spacious and clean both the room and bathroom were. The in-room amenities were practical and well maintained, including a mini fridge, kettle, hairdryer, ironing board and iron. The TV and air conditioning were adequate and functioned as expected, contributing to a comfortable stay.
The main shortcoming, raised repeatedly by guests during breakfast conversations, was the buffet offering. As Hindus, we are vegan on certain days and on other days consume only chicken, with no beef or pork. While the chef kindly prepared soya, it was presented as the sole vegan protein option throughout our stay. Repeating the same soya dish on every vegan day was neither reasonable nor appropriate, particularly given that this was a paid buffet breakfast that should have offered genuine variety. In practice, the options amounted to soya, chicken sausage, or chicken livers, with little else available.
More broadly, the buffet lacks diversity and thoughtful rotation. Vegan selections were limited to soya, plain pumpkin, or mushroom and eggplant dishes that were largely under-seasoned and uninspired. Several guests seated near us raised identical concerns, making it clear this is a recurring issue rather than an isolated preference.
This feedback requires more than acknowledgment. The food manager and culinary team should implement substantive menu revisions. Ongoing repetition of the same complaints without visible change points to a failure in quality control and guest responsiveness.
Another point worth noting is the absence of a microwave. While I understand this may be a Garden Court–wide policy, it is disappointing. Many lower-star and higher-end hotels provide this basic amenity. Its absence stands out and reflects poorly on the brand given current guest expectations.
Charging guests separately for Garden Court parking was disappointing and felt unreasonable for a hotel of this category.
Lastly, guests are not permitted to eat takeaway food in the common waiting areas while waiting for rooms, which was impractical and unnecessarily restrictive.
That said, the hotel itself was comfortable, well located, and supported by an excellent frontline team. With meaningful improvements to the food offering, this Hotel could deliver a significantly stronger overall experience.
