Day 1:
As we were walking up the outside stairs, there were potted plants by the edge of the stairs. I have a balance problem. So, I was trying to hang on to the handrails, walking up the steps was not great. A couple of times, I bunted a potted plant. We walked up the steps, rang the doorbell, and saw a cat outside. I had been told that there are two outside cats.
We walked in and said good afternoon to the gentleman in the dining room. Our room was upstairs on the second floor. We walked up the stairs to the bedroom. They were narrow steps. Again, I have a balance problem. We walked up a narrow stairway to the bedroom and he's still talking and said you share your bathroom with another couple up here. I immediately told him I had reserved a private bath and at 70 years old, that if I must go to the bathroom at 3:00 in the morning, I don't want to find somebody else in the bathroom unless it's my husband. I asked him then, would there be a discount on the room for the inconvenience of sharing a bathroom? He said no. In rhw bedroom there is a comfy chair, another comfy chair and a dresser, and then a bed. Very, very little room to put a suitcase or two. He then informed us that the TV doesn't work. OK. Guess I wasn't there for TV. Then he informed us to always keep the door closed. Because the cat had just lost its mate and was walking around the house, Meowing at all doors and trying to find his mate. His mate has died. So now I have no private bathroom. I have a small room which I expected, but not that small. No TV, and in the middle of the night, a cat can be outside my door meowing. As we're walking out of the bedroom because we're going to spend the afternoon outside. My husband whispers to me he (the owner) needs a shower. Now that's not my husband. He's very kind. Well, I lost most of my scent of smell when I had COVID. When I got close to the gentleman. I could smell it too. Please tell him that that's not customer service. Breakfast was $15 a person if you wanted to have breakfast. I had declined it when I made the reservation and declined it again. After smelling his odor, my husband agreed we were not going to eat anything he made. Now I figured we could go out in town, as Gary and I left Garden House Bed and Breakfast. We're going to just walk around town. I said to Gary, we have spent more money, silly, than, what it cost for us to stay at that place. Let's go somewhere else for the night. I'm not comfortable with cats. I'm definitely not comfortable with sharing the bathroom. He agreed with me. We took the keys back to the gentleman and told him that we decided we were not staying tonight. I had been excited about staying at my first bed and breakfast!! The only thought in my mind were that We did not have a private bathroom.
When I booked this room, I was informed that we were to have a private bathroom and that the cats were outside cats.
If I'd been prepared for not having a private bathroom before I booked the room, I could have made the choice earlier. But I hadn't been informed of the change. Why wasn’t I informed before we arrived? after he booked the 4th bedroom? I asked the guy, “can we have our money back? He asked how did you book the room? I had booked it with booking.com. He said you'll have to deal with booking .com. He said, see what they say about getting your money back. We left.
I've been as honest and as forthright as I can with this letter. I believe either booking.com or the Garden Bed and Breakfast should refund our money. I don't feel they advertised in good faith. I'm sending this letter to booking.com. and to the Garden House Bed and Breakfast.
