For the most part, we enjoyed our stay. Chris was a good host and we enjoyed our conversations with him. The breakfasts were delicious. However, parking was hit and miss. We were surprised by the condition of the outside of the house. It has not been well taken care of...inside was interesting. The one thing that really bothered us was the AC temp. It was WARM. We asked him to cool it off, please and he agreed. But it never felt like he did. We LOVED the cats. But no notice was given about them, so very glad we had no allergies. We love Hannibal. And we'll probably go back. But I couldn't say we would stay here again.

The Garden House is a delightful bed and breakfast. The home is quaint and cozy, filled with charming, old-fashioned touches you rarely see these days. The resident cats were absolutely adorable and made the stay even better. Just be sure to bring allergy medication if needed. Breakfast was enjoyable, featuring an omelet, coffee, juice, and a small dessert. I will definitely stay here again.

B&B plus CC! It was an interesting stay. Not sure I would return. Was memorable. Loved the cats, happy accident. If you’re allergic, probably not ideal. Chris was friendly enough and made a good breakfast. Hannibal is a fun place to drop in.

This B&B is a cozy looking and otherwise pleasant place except for one significant, not-so-minor detail. Cats freely roam throughout the house. The website says “pet-friendly” but to my thinking, that does not include pets roaming freely everywhere in the house. I am very allergic to cats and I felt very threatened by the situation. Of course, we had no other place to stay, but I had my meds with me and I doped up for the night. By morning, I had to use my albuterol inhaler. The owner met with us for breakfast and we had a pleasant chat about many things. However, neither he nor the gentleman who greeted us on our arrival seemed very sympathetic to my allergies. They need to either fully disclose the presence of cats throughout the house, or remove the cats entirely.

This place is really a find. A beautiful old house, nice owner, and clean. There are a few indoor cats - for me that was a big plus! I miss my cat while traveling. Everything seemed very clean, with good quality pillows and linens. Bed a little soft for me but you may love it. Don't be put off by the front porch which is set up for a few outdoor cats - inside is much nicer. If you hate cats or are prone to crawling under the bed in search of a stray hair this is maybe not your place. I hope I get a chance to stay here again.

This was about my 10th visit to the Garden House. I absolutely adore it and I consider Chris, the owner, to be a friend. I really enjoy the atmosphere and bohemian and eclectic decor. Chris is an excellent host and cook, so breakfasts are to die for. I am a cat lover and the indoor cats are quite amusing and sometimes sleep with me. The restaurant a block down the street called La Binnah Bistro is perhaps the best place I have ever eaten and I have never had a dish that was not extremely tasty and excellent. I actually make a longer trip to my travelling destination to enjoy both the b and b and the restaurant. I really can’t sing the praises loud enough!

Yelp
My fiancé and I stayed here for a single night on short notice. The proprietor, Chris, was wonderful! One of the first and most important things with bed and breakfasts is that it was clean. From the bedding to the the towels, it felt and smelled clean. That's something that's very important when staying in older places. Chris did a wonderful job with breakfast. Saying it was gourmet isn't an stretch at all. It was two courses, cold then hot with perfectly brewed coffee and a selection of teas. Conversation afterwards was entertaining and engaging. Chris has been around town a long time and told great stories. Stay here and you'll love it too!

Yelp
this is without a doubt the worse experience we have ever had. First the owner left a message saying if we didn't call by 2:00 he was going to give our room to someone else. check in was not until 2:00. i had reserved the room. there are cats everywhere and we had to chase them out if our room. The entrance was disgusting. I went to take a shower and the door knob to our room fell off in my hand. I could not get out. fortunately my husband was not in the room and he was able to let me out. there was no hot water. I called the owner and was told of to turn on the sink faucet first. still no hot water. I called again and was told he would be right over. he came in did not speak went to a back room then upstairs to the bathroom. turned on the shower and said now you have hot water and he left. I took a cold shower. never again will we stay here and would never recommend this nightmare.

Yelp
With my few experiences with B&B, this one is the best so far. Pros: Price is excellent. Just a little more than paying for a chain hotel. walking distance to downtown. comfortable. You feel at home. Cons: As a breakfast person, breakfast is lite. If you aren't a breakfast person, then it will probably be perfect. It was very good. Notes: max of two people. The bathrooms are shared. There are lot cats around, inside and out. If you have allergies, please take note.

Yelp
The only "Queen Anne" Victorian in Hannibal. We happened to be the only residents last night. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of pillows, blankets, and towels. There was a small TV. Bathroom was in the hall and small. The innkeeper is a cat lover and they were all very friendly. He is also a chef. Breakfast was amazing. Coffee was available along with juice, a yogurt parfait and a delicious frittata with eggs, cheese, potatoes and Missouri sausage. He sat with us at breakfast and shared some of the history of the town and the B & B. He clearly loves the community and the Garden Inn. Thank you for your hospitality Chris.

Yelp
I never thought I'd really have any strong desire to want to go back to Hannibal, Missouri but then I stayed at the Garden House & that changed everything. It's such a quaint victorian home. The owner was absolutely nice, interesting and worldly. He reminded us of Anthony Bourdain. He's the owner of a THE BEST restaurant in town, LaBinnah Bistro. (Always busy. Make a reservation!) Comfortable rooms. The morning breakfast was delicious & classy. Probably the classiest breakfast i've ever had. We were so sad leaving. I hate even admitting this, but we almost stayed at a chain hotel in town because it was a little cheaper. SO SO happy we paid the extra $50 and went with this B&B instead. It was the best decision we made. You get what you pay for. My BF & I are huge foodies, who love traveling the world as much as I can! And we both can honestly say we talk about Garden House quite frequently. We just absolutely loved it! If you love the finer things in life, Garden House is the place to stay at! We will be back!!! xoxo

Yelp
My wife and I went here for a romantic weekend. The Garden House is a great little house in a historical area of a very history-rich city. The owner was very friendly and made a delicious breakfast. He's the main cook of the LaBinnah bistro a little ways down the street which was excellent. If you visit Hannibal, make sure to have a reservation here.

Yelp
We had an amazing stay at the Garden House Bed and Breakfast. Chris, the owner, was such a great host and very fun to talk with. We dined at his restaurant for dinner (which is less than a minute walk from the house) which was delicious. He's quite the chef! The breakfast he made us in the morning was also totally amazing. He sat with us while we are our breakfast, drank our coffee and OJ, and told us about the history of Hannibal and the house which was really interesting. We highly recommend staying here. Really quaint, cozy and beautiful. The bed was unbelievably comfortable too! We will definitely be returning if we find ourselves back in the area. Thanks Chris!
