Where to Stay in Dublin When You Visit in 2025

"This hostel feels like staying at a friend's house — quieter but social — with a fully equipped kitchen, a rooftop terrace for eating and drinking with friends, dorm beds that have curtains and super-thick mattresses, and individual lights and outlets at each bed." - Matthew Kepnes

The 5 Best Hostels in Dublin (Updated 2025)

"This hostel feels like home — I love the vibe of the common areas, there's a fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook, and a chill rooftop terrace where you can take in the view while eating and drinking with friends. The dorm beds have curtains and super-thick mattresses with individual lights and outlets so you can get a good night's sleep. The hostel isn't in the best area of the city, but it's a great option for travelers looking for a quieter stay." - Matthew Kepnes

The location of this hostel is fantastic-close to everything you need and perfect for exploring the area. The beds are incredibly comfortable, making it easy to get a great night’s sleep. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the overall atmosphere feels very well maintained. The breakfast is also really good, with plenty of options to start the day right. Highly recommended!

This hostel was exactly what I needed it to be for my week in Dublin. The bathrooms and kitchen were clean, and the bed was comfy. I didn’t spend much time there during the day, but nights were quiet. Yes, you can hear the door of the garage next door, but I didn’t find it terribly disruptive. I would recommend bringing a small USB powered fan for your bunk, as I felt they got a bit stuffy at night. I’m satisfied with my experience and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

This place is really great for the price and location. It's very comfortable and in walking distance of a lot of bars, coffee shops and a quick 18-20 min walk to the more touristy sites. The beds all have curtains to pull across for extra privacy which is really nice to have. The staff were extremely helpful and parking for a sprinter van was easily accessible right in front of the building for metered parking.

An amazing experience. Even though it was full, it dis not fee crowded. Staff are REALLY helpful and nice; Good people. Rooftop Common area with big windows and terrace. Clean kitchen, lots of space. Tv room and computers. 10/10 Fabulous Korean restaurant around the corner. Easy to walk downtown. Best backpackers I have stayed in a long time.

We booked a private room and it was honestly lovely. The kitchen felt a little chaotic and the breakfast was very very minimal but generally we felt the hostel was clean and organized. Service was very good and helpful. Especially Ainara. She was super sweet and accommodating.

We had a lovely stay at this hostel! Very clean rooms, comfy beds , lots of facilities/ social spaces. The free breakfast was a bonus! Couldn't ask for much more for this price! Not in the centre of Dublin but close enough to walk into town. Will definitely return!

Garden lane Backpackers is the sweetest. Second time back here and it feels like a little slice of home. Lovely staff members. Rooms and common areas, bathrooms etc are all very clean and free of clutter. Thanks for having me!

If you are a married couple do not stay in this hostel. Our welcome was not very friendly and the room was very small. Avoid taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel because the driver will overcharge you for 50+. The location was handy to the city centre and we enjoyed Temple Bar area, The Christ Church pub, Molly's Bar 101 Francis St, The Liberties and visiting the Dublinia with the 11am free tour. My wife and I booked 6 months in advance and could not find anything below 150. Next time we will know to pay over 150 for a nicer hotel room with bathroom. Of course Dublin city centre is expensive however we should have paid 150-200 to ensure we have a nice room, bed, bathroom and cooked breakfast.

Yelp
Stayed in this hostel the weekend of sint patricks day. The prices are incredibly inflated: 1 night in dorm costed as much as 4 nights in same dorm in a more quiet period. Overall impression: - not a nice neighbourhood for women to wonder around alone at night (quiet dark street) - was welcomed by drunk men at reception upon arrival - rooms are clean. Do bring own pad lock for locker and own towel. - each bed has electricity and lamp - breakfast included and use of kitchen Overall ok, but just not a nice neighbourhood for women travelling alone. If better neighboirhood, i would surely guve higher marks

Yelp
NIGHT ON THE SOFA!!! My flight was delayed and I tried to notify the property that I would arrive after the reception closing time. The phone number provided was wrong, the one on their site was a callcenter and nobody answered, no emails from them. I arrived at midnight and ... SURPRISE: I was locked out! Luckily I met a girl who was a guest of the same hostel and she let me in. I continue to call without any response. At the end I slept on the living room sofa without any blanket. The next day they admitted the phone number was wrong, apologized and finally gave me the room I paid for. They provided proof that they sent the instruction email, but I never received it (even in the spam folder that I checked that night to be sure). The same day, the same thing happened to a guy who didn't receive the email. Final surprise: they did not want to refund the night I paid for for which I did not receive the service purchased, even risking to have to sleep out or spend other money for a new accommodation. Luckily hotels.com provided me with a small discount voucher. Thank you Hostel.com
