We had a great time with our date couple, and the theater was great! Appreciated the time spent with friends. Although, you should allow photography 📸 while play is going, because when you have people in the show, we'll you just want to share that experience with them. Not having nagging people tapping you on the shoulder , saying, stop taking photo's. 😡 Honestly, I was being discreet and not having my flash on. Seriously,

Google
An absolutely amazing experience! I bought tickets to 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show Experience' on Halloween night as a present to my mum (since it's her favorite movie and she introduced me to it) and it was phenomenal. Eventhough there were hoards of people out side the theatre wasn't that busy and sold prop bags and food in the main area. Double doors on either side made the entrance process much faster. My only critique is I wish they had an easier way to find your seat if there wasn't a person, such as seats 1-_ on this side and seats _-_ on the other side. Overall a wonderful experience and will be looking forward to attending again!

Small and very cute theater. Watched Dream Girls here and the actors were amazing, very talented, their popcorn and drinks were great. Located near a lot of restaurants which makes this an awesome day spent in Winter Garden!

Thank you Garden Theatre for using my original African percussion song Ancestors Forever! / Mababu Mele in your recent production of The Mountaintop about Martin Luther King Jr! The play was incredible, supremely well done and very moving. Seeing my music incorporated into the crescendo of the play while Dr.King was entering into heaven and having visions from God was a great moment for me as a recording artist and composer! Contributing to this incredible performance was a privilege and an honor.

Google
Very nice theater. Unfortunately, the show was not ready yo open due to technical difficulties. They did let us come and see the dress rehearsal and we can come back any night after they open. I will give them another chance.

Great intimate venue to see a play, concert, or movie. Easy access to parking and loads of restaurants to enjoy before or after the show. Affordable tickets prices for such professional level shows. Fresh popcorn, snacks, and occasionally cocktails available for purchase.

Came to see Rock of Ages tonight with my husband and 13 year old daughter. We All Love it. Amazing cast in an intimate setting.

Yelp
This was a great venue we visited to see Little Shop of Horrors which was honestly touring or Broadway quality. I was impressed by the cast, and it was no wonder they gave good performances since I noticed some work for Disney entertainment. I would highly suggest some of their upcoming events like musicals, concerts, and movies. Hope to be back soon.

Yelp
New show: moonshine and mistletoe. Music and dance Based on Appalachia. Let you know more after the show. Garden theatre is a small, adorable, personable, and does excellent plays with SAG actors. Top quality In a community setting!!! Recommended. Can't say how much this is a part of our community! Moonshine and mistletoe is excellent. Go hear an amazing production!! Here through December!!

Yelp
This is an awesome local theatre that puts on a variety of shows throughout the year. I've seen a couple of shows here in the past and went last weekend to watch Rock of Ages (awesome show!). The theatre isn't huge, but still a good size to not feel constricted. You can get a pretty good view regardless of where you're sitting. The people that work here are always friendly and helpful in assisting with finding your seat or anything else you may need. They serve snacks such as popcorn and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. For the Rock of Ages show, they had an area set up on the stage prior to the show and at intermission for drinks so I enjoyed grabbing and beverage and checking out the stage and set close up! I definitely recommend Garden Theatre to go have a fun afternoon or evening watching a show!

Linda M.

Yelp
It is obvious why this theatre was sold out. The actors were of high caliber. Even tho this theatre is small, it is perfect for the quaint town of Winter Garden. I had to drive through theme park traffic, but it was worth it.

Yelp
Had a great time going to a matinee showing of Rock Of Ages by Victory Productions here at the Garden Theater! It's a small venue, but allows it to be intimate and every seat is pretty good. We sat in row Q and it was still good views. They even had an on-stage bar at the Bourbon Room with themed drinks before the show started and during intermission! So cool! We had nothin' but a good time and hope to see more shows like this here!

Yelp
I have been to a couple musicals and a movie here. They also have children and adult classes as well as spring break and summer camps. It is a beautiful theater that has been restored. The plays here are performed by professionals and you can tell. They can all carry a tune and the performances I have viewed were flawless. I picked musicals but they have a full season of shows and offer subscribers a discount based on if you buy the whole season or selected shows. This last time I got a seat on the left section but adjacent to the aisle. This was a great seat. Previously I sat in the middle and climbed over people and vice versa. You pay a three dollar ticketing fee online and the same fee at the box office. I got my ticket the day of the show and they had just opened up that seat. They have one bathroom in the lobby near the door. If you climb the stairs they have large a large restroom for both women and presumably men, I didn't check. But I estimate they had 8 or 9 stalls and sinks. There was a queue for the single downstairs both before and after the show. We tried to take the elevator which is around the corner from the second floor restroom but ended up outside on the first floor. Make a note before the show to confirm if there will be an intermission and details on late entry. We had a snack at Rosalie's bakery across the street before the show and shared a cheese platter after the Sunday matinee at the Chef's Table. I thought his was a perfect afternoon. We plan to catch another show this season.

Yelp
This theatre is very nice, quaint and the performances are very entertaining. I have been here for a few shows and always have a good time. This latest was for a Hocus Pocus Interactive Showing of the movie. It was a lot of fun and you should look st their schedule of upcoming interactive showings (we may hit 1-2 of them). The theatre itself is small, so please know that going. However I feel this is what makes this place nostalgic and inviting. Each time I have been here, super clean and the staff from ticket, concessions to the performers are always 110% great/friendly. Prices for both tickets and snacks are very reasonable. Enjoy a movie or play, or catch a last minute concert but definitely should try the Garden Theatre.

Yelp
"Moonshine and Mistletoe - an Appalachian Christmas" at the Garden Theater in downtown Winter Garden is the holiday hit of the 2023 season! We went last night and thought that the performance was one of the best we have seen in the Orlando area. It's a spirit-filled look at a coal mining family bound together by love, adversity, faith and most of all, music. Think you don't like Appalachian music? Think again. You'll hear songs you remember and ones you don't, all presented by an enthusiastic and energetic cast of multi-talented singers, dancers, and musicians, most of whom are proficient with multiple musical instruments. It's a family oriented show that everyone from the kids to the grandparents will enjoy. I guarantee you'll leave with a big smile on your face.

Yelp
My wife and I had tickets to see Deathtrap; and, wanted to go on a Saturday afternoon. With the 3-show package, we found great seats online; and, secured the dates. The one-set, 5-person play is one of my all-time favorites; I have seen it at a dinner show, in local theater, on DVD; and, here at the Garden Theatre. The audible gasp by the audience during the first acts big twist was so pleasing, as it showed how much we were into the action on stage, including the brilliant performances by the cast. We had a coupon for free popcorn; and, picked that up at the concession stand along with a bottle of water. Due to recent surgery, my wife needed to be at the end of the row; and, she was glad I had gotten her that seat. The staff and volunteers were wonderful, from the ticket check-in to concessions, to the ushers; and, everywhere inside and out. What a delightful venue; and, on Saturdays, the Farmer's Market is happening just a block off of Plant Street, so that's another draw for us. Two more shows for us to go - A Christmas Carol and Grease - can't wait!

Yelp
The Garden Theatre is located downtown on Plant Street Winter Garden. It was built in 1935 and closed in 1963. Like many old buildings it was repurposed. It was stripped of its beautiful interior and prepared to function as a farm supply store. Years passed and it once again closed. With the help of the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation it was refurbished and reopened in 2008. The theatre now hosts many events that includes movies, live plays and concerts. Over the years we have enjoyed many events at the Garden Theatre now that our grandson is old enough we will be taking him to the Summer Series during the months of June and July. The Summer Series is hosted every Tuesday at 10am. On Tuesdays you can see a family friendly movie for $3.00. The $3.00 includes a kid size popcorn and a juice box.

Evelyn G.

Yelp
A small theater located on Plant Street in Winter Garden. I find the area exceptionally interesting and along with great shows have explored the unique adventures. But getting back to the theater, I like the intimacy and comfortable seats. The only drawback is finding the rest room.

Colleen F.

Yelp
My 7 year old daughter attended several camps here over the last few years. She had a good experience at all of them except for the last one that she attended in July of 2021. At her most recent camp, she ended up being physically bullied by another student. Specifically she mentioned that another, older student, grabbed her by the neck. This girl was also apparently ripping up her drawings. My child is relatively timid and did not report the incident right away- we did not find out what was going on until the final day of camp. We alerted the camp on that day. The camp called us, apologized, and asked her about the incident. My child would not name the bully so there was no further follow up. The camp instructors did seem concerned and I am sure they regret that this happened. But I am concerned about the level of supervision here that would have allowed a dangerous incident like this to happen in the first place. As much as we've enjoyed seeing her performances at this theater, we will not be returning. I do not feel that this is a safe environment for my child.

Yelp
I have been to this theatre for several shows and every one of them has been awesome! The theatre is small and intimate and they offer some really great plays and musicals throughout the year. There is no bad seat in the house and you are more than welcome to bring in coffee from Axuim next door. If you are looking for something different, this is a great option located right in the middle of picturesque downtown Winter Garden. I have also volunteered there as well and it's really a good time. The tasks are easy and the staff are always so nice and friendly.

Yelp
Garden Theatre hosted Robbiween for us and i am glad they did. They supported a wonderful woman who gives so much to the themepark and haunt industry. We had one of the upstairs ballrooms dedicated to the silent auction, and the Theatre itself was used for 3 different lectures filled with those who are the end all and be all of the aformentioned industries in Florida. It was a lot of Who's who, and a lot of amazing information that we got to receive.

Hunt H.

Yelp
Ridiculous mask policy and constant reminders from the staff about wearing a mask, despite no physical distancing measures. We went tonight for an "interactive movie", where three staff members sat on the side of the stage for the entire movie with a spotlight, blinking Christmas beads, and microphones for commentary. This was happening during a movie we paid $15/ticket to see. If you're looking for a relaxing date night, this place isn't it. Be sure that if you're going to see one of these "interactive movies" you know what you're getting into before making plans.

Selin O.

Yelp
I have been a subscriber for over 5 years now and Garden Theatre keeps impressing us every single year. They do an absolutely amazing job with their productions. Mary from the box office is very kind and helpful with all the ticket processes. Director of the theatre joins talk back sessions and create an environment for people to share their opinions or ask questions. I saw some comments about their mask policies and it saddened me a lot. This place doesn't deserve one star because they require masks. Even though I'm a 20 something year old, most of the viewers are older and they are protecting their ticket holders. They are very open and transparent about this policy. If it bothers you that much, then don't come! I don't appreciate self inflicted problems to affect an amazing non-profit organization.

Yelp
Let's only rate the venue, not the play we just sat halfway through! Thank goodness the floor is as clean as it is!! And that btw is very clean! Okay, I had my phone between my legs (turned off) during the play. (Hate to sit on it while in my back pocket) I scooched too far forward and dropped my phone on the floor during the play and OMG, it slid down the floor two rows in front of me! So during intermission I had to "look" for it since I couldn't call it! On my hands and knees using a borrowed cell phones' flashlight app. Enough commotion was caused so the news of the search moved forward couple rows and then it was found. Again I didn't even feel dirt on the floor. Then to the restroom to wash up and again this facility is kept very nice and tidy. The employees were all friendly and helpful. Concession stand is barely efficient enough to get by with only ONE cash register during the 15 minute intermission rush.

Yelp
The perfect community theatre. Small enough that every seat is excellent, yet large enough to put on quality shows with amazing talent. Feeding from local performers from Disney and Universal Studios, the talent available to The Garden Theatre is bountiful. We recently saw "Ragtime" and it was Broadway quality. Easy parking in nearby streets and garage, surrounded by quaint bars and restaurants, the location is excellent. If you love live theatre, but don't want to deal with the hassle and prices of downtown Orlando - check out The Garden Theatre.

Tracey F.

Yelp
This was my first trip out to Winter Garden. It's a really cute downtown are and was lit up beautifully for the holidays. The theater was easy to find and has a nice big parking garage right behind it. The lobby is tiny but the interior of the theatre is a nice size. All the seats are great and allow a good view of the stage. They have a concession stand that sells wine and beer and you can take them into the theatre. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We saw a Peanuts Christmas and they let the kids on the stage afterwards to meet the actors. It was a really great experience.

Clara S.

Yelp
I went to see Destiny of Desire with my son who's taking an acting class and a friend but thought he would never like it and... surprise!!!! We all loved it. It was amazing. It was also very easy to buy the tickets online. I highly recommend this venue and I'm sure that I will be back.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
I've been to other "historic" theaters before which usually means small weird restrooms, low amenities, bad sound and low quality lighting. HOWEVER, the Garden Theatre exceeding my expectations in areas of cleanliness, class, and sound production. I watched Sweeney Todd from row Q (about 3rd from last row) and I was surprisingly fine with the seats which speaks to the smaller size theatre being able to deliver. I found the staff to be committed to making my experience a very classy event. They actually walked us to our seats, how nice is that!? I did have trouble on my iPad with seeing the seating chart on their website, not sure what's going on there but I called the box office which seemed like they were my friend. I'm already shopping for my next show.....

Yelp
Although probably best known for the live performances, this week concluded the Summer Series of classic films (Citizen Kane, Meet Me in St Louis, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, etc.). Such a great deal ... 7 films for $35 which includes a bag of fresh popcorn! (Tickets also available for individual films.) In addition, there are "binges" on Saturdays ... yesterday's was four Hitchcock films (Rear Window, The Birds, To Catch a Thief, and Psycho). Easy parking in the new parking structure a block away, and some really excellent options for dining ... everything from just coffee and pastry to full meals. Such a beautiful theater with terrific volunteer staff. Time to get ready for the live performances which are an impressive lineup this season. Truly a gem in the midst of the historic district. Celebrating 10 years of operation since the incredible restoration was completed.

Yelp
I really have to remember to "check in" when I'm actually AT these venues...anyhoo, I visited the Garden Theatre for the first time this Sunday to see the Bonnie & Clyde musical (Go see it!) & I was pleased. The theatre is small yet cozy. As soon as we had our tickets scanned, a smiling usher walked over & said "I'm here to help you!". She showed us to our seats, which I appreciated because I would've hated to be wandering around like an idiot, climbing over people to get to the middle seat, just to find out I'm on the wrong row. I plan to see the Glass Menagerie there next month. Oh, there are also a few decent places in the area to grab a bite & a drink before or after the show & the parking garage is close & FREE ;-)

Dan J.

Yelp
I love going to the small theater. It has been lovingly restored.

Jessie L.

Yelp
I love this little theater! It's so awesome to find a place that plays classic movies, extra bonus points for being able to watch them in such a great atmosphere! If you get a chance to walk down Plant Street and you haven't stepped inside this theater, take a peek! It's so cool looking inside! I especially love the stars on the ceiling!!! Truely a gem that needs to be preserved.

Armando G.

Yelp
I was very pleased with the customer service that we received today at The Garden Theatre. We arrived before the Peter Pan show to pick up our tickets at the box office and were helped by a very friendly staff member. Inside I was extremely pleased to feel the effects of a functioning air conditioner; watching a play as I drench my shirt with about 5 pounds of sweat isn't really the most positive experience. I'm also not the smallest person you'll encounter so the comfortable seats I encountered ensured I'd be able to tolerate the long viewing. I will definitely be coming back to enjoy future shows.

Yelp
Originally built in 1935 as a single-screen cinema, the Garden Theatre was the first in Central Florida built for "talkies," and was a gathering place for locals to watch the latest newsreels and films of the day. Constructed in the Mediterranean Revival style, the interior of the theatre was modeled after a Spanish courtyard with "Romeo & Juliet" balconies, Spanish tile roof, and a dark blue ceiling resplendent with "stars." The theatre underwent several renovations until closing in 1963. Soon after, the interior was completely removed and the sloped floor was covered with cement to level the surface to be used by a farm supply store. Through the tireless efforts of the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, the restored Garden Theatre reopened in February 2008, and with over 200 events per season, has quickly become a shining star on Plant Street. The Garden Theatre brings a cultural performing arts center to Winter Garden, a town with unparalleled charm in Central Florida. This achievement is revitalizing the downtown historic district, and bringing a nostalgic sense of community back to the citizens of Winter Garden. By restoring its architectural charm and re-introducing well-loved family programming, this treasured gem fills a cultural void in West Orange County. By presenting 4-7 events each week, a study by Americans for the Arts, Arts and Economic Prosperity Report, shows the estimated annual economic impact of the operational theatre to be over $1 million annually. The Garden Theatre hosts live plays, concerts, movies, and more to the residents of and visitors to the city of Winter Garden. I have seen many live plays as well as classic movies during the summer and highly recommend a visit to this historic cinema!

Drew M.

Yelp
So many positive things to say about this wonderful and historic space. The Garden Theatre is a magnificent and versatile venue hosting anything from weddings to concerts to movies and (in house produced) theatrical productions. Their in-house productions are high quality an never fail to entertain. During the summer they show Milk Money Movies for the kiddos. My son and daughter love seeing their favorites on the big screen! For a few bucks we get to see a movie and get popcorn and juice. My most recent visit to the theater was to see a concert from the Bluegrass series they are doing all summer long. The seating was comfortable and intimate which meant there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The sound and acoustics work great in a smaller venue like the Garden Theatre. Their staff is very friendly. There is a snack bar with candies, popcorn, beer & wine, and soda. Looking forward to seeing many more shows at this theater!

Donna N.

Yelp
Garden Theatre Proof exists that big is not always better! I've been to the Garden for 3 events and all have been a delight. While it may be a smaller venue than the Bob Carr for example, it makes up for space with charm and a friendly atmosphere. Last summer I enjoyed a vintage movie during their annual movie series. In October my friends and I had a great time at Little Shop of Horrors, amazed by the talented cast and wonderful costumes. The smaller space is actually a treat during a live production, the audience almost feels a part of the action on stage! Most recently we attended The Best of Battle of the Sexes and once again were not disappointed (well except the show at 1 hour was a wee bit short), but that was the Orlando Ballet's timing not the Theatre's doing. Friendly staff and volunteers and tasty popcorn round out an overall fun experience!

Mallory M.

Yelp
We came for Joel Grey (Broadway/Vaudeville/Cabaret star) and were treated to a very special pre-show that included acts from previous productions at the Garden. The theater itself is intimate, clean and beautiful. The talent was fabulous. The lights and sound were amazing and crystal clear. They even had one of the kids from their theater program come up after and discuss the impact it's had on his life. I really enjoyed this beautiful theater, the members, and the art and joy of live entertainment it brings to Winter Garden.

Sarah F.

Yelp
This place is just so lovely. The staff is great, the ambiance is fun, the audiences are fantastic. I've been here before for plays, concerts, and movies. Tonight we went to see The Philadelphia Story and instead of icky previews they showed a period political ad (in news reel style), complete with subtitles that translated the national debt and defense spending figures into 2013 dollars. And classic movies for $5! Amazing. Just so much love for this place. Go, go, go.

Dave T.

Yelp
Who knew? The Garden Theater could be called "a diamond in the rough," but the location on an old town street in Winter Garden is far from "rough." This theater has an old school charm that is hard to find in the Orlando area. The trip out there is as much fun as getting there. Avoid Colonial when doing so, as you may want to take a more scenic route. In fact if you are going to see a play make time to walk around the city center and eat at one of the local restaurants. Anyway, the caliber of theater is well worth the visit. I saw L'range Avec Fleur which I beleive is on its last week (look it up). In addition to performance art, the Garden Theater shows movies, which will probably be my next visit. This is definitely repeatable. Great place for dates. Dafe

Joe F.

Yelp
The Garden Theatre is a special gem in a great city. Can't ask for a better group of folks and they deliver outstanding shows and experiences year-round. Much love for all my GT peeps!

Rayni K.

Yelp
It's wonderful to have such a historical venue easily accessible and filled with great plays, concerts, and movies in Winter Garden. Every single play we've seen has been well-produced, well-cast, and a ton of fun. These are not half-hearted productions. The theatre itself is not very large with an almost non-existent lobby area. It can get crowded between the people that are just coming in to the building, those getting their tickets checked, and others standing in line for the concession stand. However, they do a pretty good job of managing the flow and crowd. If you are short, like me, you may want to avoid the first 3-4 center rows as the floor is still relatively flat towards the front. If you want to remain close to the stage, I've since realized that the best are the aisle seats in the side sections. I can't wait to watch the rest of the plays in the season, and maybe even a concert or movie in between.

Michael C.

Yelp
If you haven't been to downtown Winter Garden, the Garden Theatre alone is worth the drive. Recently voted in Orlando Weekly as one of the best rehab stories, the theater has been completely restored to its full glory, something the theatre hasn't seen for almost 40 years. It's interesting to see the Spanish style, with wrought iron balconies on either side of the stage. Movies are shown Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and the tickets are only $5 a pop. During the day, the theatre hosts educational summer camps for the kids in the areas of acting, improv, or puppeteering. It's really exciting to see the revamp, and it's good to know that places like this still exist.

Eric G.

Yelp
This is such a cute little theater with an intimate and "non-intimidating" atmosphere (for those that are not normally big theater goers. It sits in a really nice city with bike paths and walkways all around. Make sure you get there early or stay late to be able to take in this small downtown city vibe.

S M.

Yelp
The Garden Theater is one of my favorite places for true cultural enrichment. My daughter and I have attended many movies and live events and have never been disappointed. The ambiance is top-notch and the staff is friendly. I know it sounds silly, but stepping into the theater is like stepping back in time. This is a true gem, and if you haven't been before you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Classic movies on the big screen to share with the youngest generations? Yes please! Because this is a non-profit, outside food and drink are not allowed, so plan to bring a couple bucks if you'd like something to eat or drink.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Was just there yesterday to see the Sleeping Beauty ballet and loved it! My first time in the theatre and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were all really nice, friendly, and helpful. Concession stand had great prices from what I saw but we weren't in the mood to try anything. The theatre is small enough that there are no bad seats in the house. Great little local place that I can't wait to go back to!

Deborah B.

Yelp
This is a great theatre with wonderful productions in a little quaint downtown area in winter garden. Love to stroll the area all litup with lights in the trees . Accessible to many restaurants as well. Not a bad seatin the house.

Esther L.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE the Garden Theatre. Their ticket prices are so reasonable, the location is perfect and the quality of the shows is superb! I always love the friendliness of the staff, too! I just saw Nunsense and was blown away! The singing was on point! I look forward to an amazing season! Alice Lost In Wonderland is next!

Henry R.

Yelp
Pretty cool throwback theater- saw a play that was decent when it opened. Very nice addition to the town that complements what Winter Garden is all about.

Austin M.

Yelp
An amazing place!! Went to see Bonnie & Clyde. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The only negative experience was an inexperienced usher. I mentioned that in a questionnaire about my experience and a few days later got a call from the FOH manager to apologize. The best customer service and professionalism that I have seen in the area. Definitely will be attending more frequently!

Cindy A.

Yelp
See Sweeney Todd at Garden Theatre Winter Garden, FL. Chance of lifetime to hear Sondheim music wonderful orchestra and voices in lovely place.

Chelsea D.

Yelp
I love Winter Garden and I try to do all i can to support local businesses because I want to see them continue to grow and i feel like its just fitting that my 100th review is dedicated to one of the oldest and, in my opinion, coolest buildings in downtown Winter Garden. My husband and I had date night for one of the summer movie series that are just $5 per ticket and we saw the Philadelphia Story starring Carey Grant, Katherine Hepburn, and Jimmy Stewart. If you haven't seen the movie....trust me...see it!!!!!! Anyways back to the theatre... everything is beautiful. It has been very well maintained and remodeled with comfy seating and a cozy feel. I can't wait to come check out some of the Christmas movies come December and they always have some sort of play or movie going on throughout the week so there is something for everyone at a really reasonable price. There was a concession area with popcorn, candy, soda, and beer/wine but the day we went they had some issues with the credit card reader so bring cash just in case. Most if not all of the workers are volunteers and you can tell they are passionate about making sure everyone has a good experience and are as friendly as can be. Check this place out you will not be disappointed!

Lenka H.

Yelp
I have been unsuccessfully trying to contact "any person" in the Garden Theatre in order to sign up my child for a summer camp. All my numerous attempts were within theater's business hours. The website registration has not been functional either. I left phone messages; there has not been a call back yet. It feels very frustrating spending this much time (four days) on such a simple task. I can just assume how much business does the Theatre loose because of such cumbersome administration. Please consider this review as an attempt to improve your business. Sincerely, Lenka Hustakova
