the cutest plant shop!! oliver was super friendly and helpful! easy & free parking right on the corner where the store is located. some vegetable garden plants, landscaping plants, and houseplants! tons of variety here but no monsteras. i could have stayed all afternoon

Highly recommend this garden. Casey was incredibly helpful and made our plant/shrub buying process so much more manageable and provided expertise that we wouldn’t have received at our local chain garden centers. Def will be a ongoing customer :)

My wife and I stopped here at the end of a road trip on our way back to Mississippi. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful in assisting us find a pot for a rather large fiddle leaf fig we have. We also picked up a few Peggy sue iris’ and blue star creeper that have been hard for us to source for our garden at home. They have a great selection of plants that you do not see at big box stores. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. Shop local!

Before I filled my carport garden bed with monkey grass, the amazing plant artists at Garden Hood rescued me and helped me figure out a gorgeous collection of plants for the space! Thanks so much!

This garden center is a hidden gem. They were super knowledgeable about native and pollinator species. They have a huge shade section. I will definitely be back!!!

I visited this business this morning after hearing very positive reviews from several friends. I entered the parking lot to find there is no designated accessible parking for people with disabilities. The entire area is unfinished ground with gravel and a challenging navigation for me which I think was obvious as I was moving so slowly and being careful not to lose my balance. I made a few inquiries about things I was looking for which were not available or not in stock. They are having a sale so perhaps that accounts for why they had so few options of flowers to plant. Because they care for the plants and what they have is healthy and I did find 2 flowers and a few houseplants that are lovely I added a star to my review. This business does not seem at all concerned about accessibility especially exhibited by the confused look I got from the counter person when I inquired about it. I had to spend time waiting for help when I had questions, and while the staff were affable they did not seem knowledgeable. I asked about a butterfly bush and was told they had lantana and some type of tree, he did not seem to know what I was talking about. I left and went to Highland Ace where I usually shop and immediately found what I was looking for, the people helping me there offered to carry my items (which I declined but was grateful for the offer) and had a much better experience. I am not overly concerned by the high prices at Gardenhood since Ace also has high prices and I expect the plants to perform commensurately. Please improve your customer service and make some kind of effort towards accessibility. You are not a new business and you are literally making it impossible for some potential customers to shop. I will not be back.

Very nice selection of outdoor plants trees etc. Indoor plan section is not as vast but has good options. It is a joy to walk around in the garden-like environment. Parking is right up front (gravel lot) so it's easy to get to this location. Staff is friendly. I would reccomend this place, definitely

I came in today to find a large planter for my Japanese Maple. We were immediately greeted with the friendliest staff eager to help us find the perfect pot. I was pleasantly surprised by their selection. I will definitely return in the spring when I'm ready to plant companion pansies in the planter.

Alright so I gave them another try since it has been a while and I am much more knowledgeable about gardening and knew exactly what I was looking for. I left with what I was looking for plus a little more. Parking was a breeze in the gravel lot. The staff was friendly. The plants were healthy.

Wow this place lives up to its name! Helpful people very patient and knowledgeable. Very fair prices for healthy plants for Indoors and outdoors. Lots to choose from. I appreciate how they help plant my plants when I buy their or bring my own pots in. Love this neighborhood place! Thank you

FYI during COVID (and possibly after) it is APPOINTMENT ONLY! Masks are required! I came in to get a couple of plants for inside of my home that are hard to kill and will purify the air. When I arrived I was immediately greeted and was taken on a tour of which plants would work best for me, how easy they are to take care of, etc. She gave me time to think about which I wanted and when I settled on 2, I asked another employee what all I needed to take care of each and she was super and friendly knowledgeable as well. They put your name in the system along with the plants you bought so if you have questions they can pull up what plants you have and answer them! I am now a plant mom of 2 beautiful plants and very excited, once I have the confidence I can keep these 2 plants alive I will go back here and get more!

Stopped here twice to get some of my plants repotted and they did a great job. My plants have never been happier. Best nursery in the hood.

I wanted a money tree. Because you know you can't kill them by over watering and hey maybe I could play up the fung shui angle with some new age girlfriend! However, I discovered they don't carry them currently. We discussed other options, one of my favorite comments when describing the light situation and a second plant I was looking at she said, 'dead leaves, sadness.'. So I ended up with a lovely peace lily! It fits my meme culture nicely, and looks amazing, plus it is robust. I was amazed by the efficiency of the two women behind the counter. Answering question after question to get every one the plants they needed. Additionally they record your plants so if you call they can help you out. Love supporting local.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to garden hood. There's a small gravel parking lot that should allow for sufficient amount of parking. I say should because there was a tree cutting truck that was parked in the lot that took up a lot of space. The entire garden was outside which was a nice change from most gardens and nurseries that offer an inside and outside area for their plants. There was a wide range of plants, everything from herbs to trees. I ended up buying a parsley plant and the employee gave me advice about watering, the kind of light that it needs, and harvesting. Towards the back there's a hen refuge. The hens don't really have anything to do with the garden but an employee was telling me that they partner with city chicks and once the hens/ chickens start getting old they keep some of them and they live out their last days there. Which I thought was really sweet . I love this place and I know if you visit you will also fall in love with them.

I am so very thankful I took a shot at this place! They require a reservation, and enforce it which made me feel very safe. When I arrived everyone offered to help, but let me peruse first. Have a great selection and we're incredibly knowledgeable when I asked questions. They gave me lots of wonderful tips to help me keep my new babies alive. I love that they keep track of what you bought, too. All prices were incredibly varied and fair. I'll definitely be back!

I've visited Garden*Hood three times (twice for purchases, once for a return) and have always had a pleasant visit. They have their own fenced in parking lot, the staff is always friendly and there's always someone who's knowledgable for my needs available. During my recent Saturday visit, there were many guests getting individualized help with their landscaping needs and I had to wait for someone to help me at the register, but it felt expected, and I wasn't bothered. There are many kinds of flora available for purchase, especially during the summertime. Keep in mind that during the winter, there won't be as much for sale. I was really impressed with the selection of indoor plants, and I like the more minimal styles available for pots. Garden*Hood sometimes hosts classes for the community to teach folks about container gardening and other plant-related things. I like supporting such a good group of folks who give back to the local area, and I think you should support them, too!

Simply the best plant store in the area, in my opinion. Their small staff feels so personable, and they are very knowledgeable botanists. They really helped me get started as a new plant mom. I love that they are doing entrance by appointment only during COVID and its all outdoors with everyone wearing a mask. I felt very comfortable. It was easy to socially distance. Prices are not even that high! I was expecting way higher than Lowe's or other big box stores since it's a local spot, and while it's a bit pricier, it was nothing near what I was expecting. They also will repot your plants for you for a small fee. I loved Gardenhood and will definitely be back!

Guys, I love this place! I came here for the first time with my friend this past weekend and mannnn I'm a Gardenhood fan now. Thoughts and Recommendations: - Large variety! I was so impressed with the amount of plant options they had. They had young plants, larger more mature ones, hanging plants, cactus, I mean a little bit of everything! Best part, they had some unique species I had only seen on Pinterest! - Healthy plants! We inspect the leaves and soil and the plants here were in such good condition. I've been to other boutique plant shops in the Atlanta area and those places are so overcrowded so plants get neglected and either lack water or sunlight (or both). Not GardenHood though :) - Affordable! Y'all, I actually bought plants here because they were reasonable priced. Again, other plant shops in the Atlanta area are just so expensive they make it hard to buy more plant babies. I'm so thankful Gardenhood is fair with their prices. - Parking is tight. It's getting colder (November) so there were plenty of spots available on a Saturday morning. However, I can only imagine their little parking lot is not enough in the spring time. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this place out. The employees were so kind and helpful so if you have any question about plant care, soil, etc they've got you. Hope this helps!

Garden Hood has a lovely selection of plants, but what makes it stand out is its customer service. The owner took the time to replant my snake plant when my pot broke and she explained everything she was doing as well. My plant looks amazing and I know I have the support of the nursery after I pay and leave! I would recommend Garden Hood to anyone looking for beautiful plants and great service.

I visited GardenHood for something specific. They did not carry the item but were extremely helpful in my getting the item ultimately. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. I'll go back for future needs.

Absolutely love this place! The property is big enough to wander around through the tiered planters, and they have a surprisingly wide variety of indoor plants in their greenhouse! Such a gem, and I cannot wait to come back! Stop here first before going to the major chain stores...you won't regret it.

After seeing some pretty lackluster plants at Lowe's and being in serious need of a garden update, we decided to check out the selection at GardenHood. Being there on the Sunday after the most beautiful Spring Saturday in existence, things were pretty picked over but I can't fault them for that. I was shopping for what every other person in Atlanta was shopping for. When we stopped in it had just begun raining, so we weren't exactly in the mood to dilly dally and slowly peruse their options. I wanted a particular kind of hydrangea and sadly they didn't have it, and the one they did have was 5 times the price of the ones I had seen at Lowe's. If it had been the right kind of would have bought it anyway, because I really really prefer this little nursery to the Garden Center at Lowe's. The staff was quite helpful, and y'all: they were playing old school MJ quite loudly over the speaker system. What's better than shopping for plants to beautify your garden? Fake moonwalking down a gravel path while you do it, duh.

After hearing good reviews on our neighborhood listserv, we hired Gardenhood to come up with ideas for two problem areas in our yard. They had great ideas & made these areas look lovely, we were really happy with their work. This was about 6 months ago. I don't have a green thumb, so when I followed up last month to ask about one particular set of plants that I seemed to be killing off, wondering if I was watering too much or not enough, they told me that they had experienced root rot with this particular variety on a few jobs, and they came and replaced them all at no charge with a slightly different variety and it looks amazing. So not only do they come up with great designs, and implement them well, they cared enough to make good on something I would have entirely thought was my fault. So shout out to Gardenhood, I highly recommend them!!!

Pretty cool spot. Bigger than expected. Not a great succulent selection and they were overpriced. They did have other plants I've never seen before which I think we're appropriately priced. I'd come back.

I scheduled an appointment this past weekend and the crew was so helpful and patient with me. I was able to get a few new houseplants. They put my plant info into their system so they have that information if I need to ask them questions. I'll definitely be back.

Hands down the best customer service and wide variety of beautiful plants and flowers in Atlanta! They go above and beyond to help and offer great ideas and gorgeous designs. I called - from Arizona - to ask if they would create a hanging basket as a gift and would they be able to arrange for delivery - obviously not a normal request. Halley was more than willing to go the extra mile for me- delivering the basket on her lunch hour!!! Who else would even think of using their own time to make sure that a Mom could make her daughter's special day a little more special? Garden*Hood!!! Do yourself a favor and go by and check them out. Beware of their 24 hour return policy. I am an experienced gardener. I bought 10 plants from GardenHood. A day later, I noticed that 3 plants of the same variety were fading. All the other varieties were fine. I took them back and was told that they would not accept them because they have a 24 hour return policy, even if the plants are defective. I will not be going back to a store that won't stand behind their products before I can even get them in the ground.

Love this place. It can be a little tricky finding this garden center if you're not looking. Parking was pretty easy the day I went, they have a decent size gravel lot. Everyone working there was pretty friendly. Though I didn't find anything for myself, they have a pretty big selection for a local nursery. Prices are reasonable on most things from what I saw, a little high on the air plants but they had quite a few to choose from. The succulents were reasonably priced if I remember correctly. Definitely a place worth checking out if you're looking to add to your garden.

I love Gardenhood! I am a new plant mom and was looking for a few plants to take home. They have a beautiful selection of plants, some I've never heard of or seen before. The staff was very helpful in helping me choose the right plants for me. Britney, the botanist, offered to pot my plants in the pots that I bought from Gardenhood. She did an amazing job, my babies are beautiful and still blooming. I will definitely be returning soon!

The pots, outdoor furniture and plants are gorgeous at GardenHood. But my gardenaholic Mother found the prices exorbitant when I took her shopping here yesterday. For example, the daphnes cost $28; when my mother recently purchased a daphne for $17, she thought that was outrageous. Still, the layout is beautiful and the product notes, extremely helpful. I never knew mint thrives best in a wide, shallow pot until I read the card beneath the lemon, orange and chocolate variations of this herbal favorite. The furniture kicks ass, particularly a cement chair that looks like a royal cushion up top, with wizard-like faces carved into the pedestal. Not to mention the planter "tree" that curls like an old oak and can hold all kinds of ivy, dangling groundcover and sedum. GardenHood is like the Anthropologie of nurseries. I'll start shopping there regularly when I sell a book or win the lottery.

Love this place! Healthy, beautiful plants in a great setting. The staff is friendly and helpful. The chickens are great to visit too! What a breath of fresh air after the large box stores. A must if you're in the area!

My go to plant and soil amendment shop. Love the plants you don't see anywhere else, the knowledgeable and laid back helpful staff. Whenever I am planting here in Atlanta's clay I must have a liberal helping of Woodland Soil Mix to break up that clay a bit. GardenHood...a Master Gardner's kind of place!!!

You can't help, but smile when you walk in here. The lot doesn't even feel like you are in town.. I always feel like I'm out in the country, especially based upon the way they have laid out the plants and fence. The employees are always helpful and the plants are gorgeous. Prices are good and GardenHood is locally owned. Bonus points in my book. **They close during the winter months. Should be open in March.***

Located near the Oakland Cemetary. The prices are not cheap, but the quality of the plants is apparent. The atmosphere of this shop sets it apart, from the funky garden sculptures to the gentle shade provided by the maple trees planted among the plant rows to the bluegrass music wafting through the outdoor speakers. Stroll through if you are waiting to eat at Stone Soup (like we were), learn some things, and feel yourself relax. The level of detail on the plant descriptor cards is amazing, and very specific to ATL/Georgia. There was even one that said, in honest terms, that the plant would very likely die after a few years, due to local conditions being warmer/more humid than the plant prefers to tolerate.

With the demise of Habersham, there aren't many small gourmet nurseries left in town. GardenHood is worth the trip. Small site, with generally only a few pots of any given (larger) plant in stock at the time, but they will order for you...in fact, they'll even put things on a wish-list for next season, or for when they become available. Knowledgable about what grows in this climate. Prices generally comparable to Pike (in other words, expensive if you're used to wholesale or some big-volume place like Home Depot), but a far greater emphasis on unusual cultivars, natives, and specimen plants. Personally, I'd much rather give my money to a small local business than the Pike behemoth.

I was a by apprehensive after reading reviews expecting high prices and snobby horticulturists. For all organic plants the prices were incredibly reasonable ($3 for a Cherokee purple heirloom tomato plant, $30 for a blueberry bush). The staff were friendly, kind and SO knowledgeable. They allowed me to browse without feeling pressure to buy anything, answered all my questions, and helped pick out the best bushes and plants of the lot. I felt very taken care of and prepared to take care of my new plants. Love seeing local places with competitive pricing and local feel. Would so much rather support a place like this than Home Depot (who's non organic plants are more expensive). Also they have chickens which my kids loved.

I stopped by for my first visit this weekend, and loved it! GardenHood has an impressive variety of plants - trees, shrubs, groundcover, air plants and succulents - that I've only seen at nurseries (a good drive away from the city). A pretty place to spend some time in, regardless of whether you're planning to buy plants or not.

I recently bought some veggie plants from them and liked the quality and price. Very good condition and prices for a true intown location. Check it out you will be pleased.

I love garden centers and the work they do, especially in underserved neighborhoods.I'm sure it's a nice place owned by nice people, But my experience was not good. I searched online and everywhere in Atlanta for a golden Niobe weeping willow. Its early foliage is forsythia-like golden yellow and is the earliest such colorful tree to leaf out. I finally found it here and paid $150-for a willow! (which many consider a weed tree) to get this early color in my garden . I waited a year and to my shock, it was a common green-leafed willow, which I could have had by sticking a cutting from any neighbor in the ground and waiting the year. Big loss of time, space, work and $ because of inaccurate marking and information from sales staff.

A tiny little spot of green in the concrete jungle. Unfort, my sister is a landscape architect and horticulturist so she's a bit of a snob when it comes to "knowing" plants. The staff on site seemed somewhat bored and uninterested in actually assisting or not so knowledgeable about their plants, but it might be because it was so freaking hot that day. I was barely able to stand in the heat for 10 minutes at a time, so... We did buy several plants (whoo so pricey), but my front yard is a hot mess and Growers Outlet was closed til August 20th. Overall, cute, pricey, but nice vibe and local-ish.

This may be the best garden center in Atlanta. Terrific, knowledgeable staff and a great selection of trees, shrubs, flowers and more. And, they have some pet chickens. I attended one of their 'Flower Hour' events and it was amazing! Hope they do one again soon! GardenHood is a great addition to the hood!

Love this place. As a recovering hippie I am required to have a garden of some sort. This place hooks me up with anything I could want!. Can't wait to get some of their blueberry bushes to add to our goji berry bushes we bought this weekend!

Just attended a very fun "Flower Hour" (happy hour/art show). A monthly event with drinks, snacks, and music. So many wonderful plant choices, arranged thoughtfully with individual information about each variety. Plants are well-established and the staff is SO friendly and ready to help and offer advice. I bought 4 new plants for under $20.

This is an awesome alternative to Lowes, albeit a pricier option. The plants seem to be of high quality and the variety is great. I also appreciate the the labeling and the detailed info cards on everything. If I had more money to blow on making my garden look amazing, I would shop here.

Great selection of shrubs, trees, perennials, annuals, succulents, bonsai and veggies (including heirloom!). You have to come here frequently to see what they have - there is new stock every week. One of the owners, Scott McMahan, is a plant collector & some of his findings end up for sale at GardenHood. Some truly unusual plants, and staff that really care that you get the plants you need for your site. You will pay a little more here, but they don't carry home depot plants, so don't expect home depot prices. Also - great pots and quirky furniture and garden art.

A little pricier than the big box store, but with a wonderful selection, and I always feel better spending my money at the smaller stores.

Honestly I am bummed to have to write a negative review here, as the crew at Gardenhood seems like cool people, and I like to support local businesses to the maximum extent I can. But Gardenhood's current reviews are *so* out of touch with my experience there that I feel compelled to relate my story here. Last winter, my wife and I contacted Gardenhood about re-landscaping our front lawn, which, due to its lack of direct sunlight, has come to be in pretty rough shape. We asked Gardenhood for both a new design and help with planting everything, and made it clear that we were eager to move forward on the project quickly, so that we could have a nice front garden in time for spring. We heard back from Kacey, Gardenhood's general manager, who came by our house in February, took detailed measurements, and was generally very friendly and pleasant to deal with. She told us she would get our sketches to us by the following week. When that week came and went and we hadn't heard anything, we followed up, and she told us she was running a bit behind -- she just needed, um, an extra two weeks. We'd liked her when we met her, so we told her that was fine. Then another two weeks came and went -- and still, nothing from Kacey. So we followed up yet again, this time suggesting that we'd be happy to go elsewhere if they were too busy to work on our project (which was starting to appear to be true). This time, though, Kacey promptly responded, and came to our house soon afterwards with some nice sketches outlining how to redo the front lawn. We chose one of the designs, proposed some tweaks to it, and told her we were eager to move ahead with the planting, just as soon as they could tell us how much everything would cost. Kacey repeatedly promised us in emails that she was just about to send us the pricing (e.g., "I'll get the price lists to you soon!"). And then, in mid-April, we simply stopped hearing from her, despite our follow-up emails. In sum, our experience with Gardenhood felt like one sustained struggle, as a customer, to be paid any attention ... a struggle that ultimately left us still in possession of our nasty front lawn. If they had simply told us they didn't want our business, that'd have been fine -- we could have used all these months to find someone who did. What Gardenhood did not need to do is waste months of our time missing deadlines and stringing us along, only to leave us in the lurch near summer with a set of incomplete plans. Gardenhood may be a decent place to stop if you need to pick up a gardenia on a Saturday afternoon or something, but if you're looking for someone reliable who can take care of your landscaping needs, KEEP LOOKING.

We stumbled on this place as a happy accident after brunch at Stone Soup Kitchen (also, yum). We had such a nice experience and will absolutely be back. We're new to this whole "growing things" adventure and know absolutely nothing. Jason spent tons of time with us and answered all of our questions (some of which were probably monumentally stupid to anyone who spends time around plants). He was really knowledgeable and really nice, even though it was clear that we wouldn't be actually shopping just yet. Once we finally decide to take the plunge and maintain a landscaped yard, we'll definitely be hitting GardenHood to stock up.

They have an amazing selection of really high quality plants. My wife and I have purchased maybe 20+ plants, all with great results. The staff are fantastic. They really know their stuff, and clearly really like what they are doing. Much better than the staff at most big box stores. It is true that at Gardenhood you might pay a little bit more than at the big box places. Where they have overlapping stock, the staff will tell you that. But there isn't very much overlap, and to me supporting a local business providing quality service and selection as well as enriching the neighborhood is more than worth any difference in price.
