Nature and Parks in Berlin

"The fairly bleak former Eastern suburb of Marzahn doesn’t draw many visitors from the center, but when it does, it’s usually in summer and because of these gardens. Opened in 1987 as part of the city’s 750th birthday celebrations, they were opened in direct competition with West Berlin’s botanical gardens. Today, however, they’re nicely complementary, featuring gardens themed by country or continent: Japan, China, Italy, and Bali, for example. There are also plenty of other things to enjoy in the park, from playgrounds to public sculptures, and the photogenic Chinese tea pavilion is well worth checking out, as is the Japanese garden during the annual cherry blossom festival." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Must-Visit in Berlin – Gardens of the World (Gärten der Welt) If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful escape within Berlin, Gardens of the World (Gärten der Welt) is an absolute gem. This park is an incredible blend of global landscape design, featuring stunning gardens from around the world—Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Balinese, Oriental, and more—each one crafted by expert landscape designers. Walking through them feels like traveling across continents without leaving the city. One of the highlights is the cable car (funicular) that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the entire park and surrounding areas—an unforgettable ride. And for those seeking a bit of fun, there’s also a bobsleigh-style sliding track nearby that adds some extra excitement to your day. We were lucky to see ships passing by, which made the experience even more memorable. The park is beautifully maintained, with plenty of spots to relax, grab a bite to eat, or just enjoy the atmosphere. There are playgrounds for kids, quiet spaces for adults, and thoughtful facilities throughout. All of this for just 9 euros entry—a fantastic value for such a rich and enjoyable experience. Whether you’re a tourist or a Berliner, Gardens of the World is well worth a visit!

Gardens of the World is a beautiful and peaceful spot in Berlin, perfect for a day out with friends or family. You can even enjoy a small picnic here. It’s easy to reach by public transport, and there’s parking available too. There’s also a Lidl nearby, great for picking up snacks on the way. The cable car ride offers amazing views, and the gardens reflect different countries , a treat for nature lovers! Don’t miss the maze garden, it’s super fun, and you get a map at the entrance to help you explore. Tickets can be bought online, but I recommend getting them at the entrance — there are two quick counters. A must-visit if you’re looking for peace, fun, and a bit of adventure in the city!

Beautiful park with amazing themed gardens from all around the world. The Chinese and Japanese gardens were especially peaceful, and the cable car ride gave us awesome views over the whole park. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing, fun day out. Highly recommend!

A great place for a walk, especially with ones family or friends. The installations are very interesting. The whole place is kid friendly with a huge playground in the middle. There is an amazing tea house near the Chinese garden. Tickets can be bought online on their website, but be careful, on that website there is more than one garden. Pay attention to what you buy. You can also buy the tickets on location, at one of 2 entrances.

Totally enjoyed the place. Very good also for kids to run around and play while moms catch up with friends either for a picnic or talks. The labryinth was cool and complex. All in all the gardens felt like one visited those countries like Korea, Japan etc

I wish i could stay there more. Beautiful and highly maintained gardens. Best to visit at spring time (should arrive at least 2-3 hours before closing to have enough time for cable cars). You get high just from smelling the blossom...

Gärten der Welt in Berlin is an exemplary blend of international garden design and innovative recreational attractions. The park invites visitors to explore a world of meticulously crafted landscapes while offering playful and educational experiences. Among its most striking features are the flying gondolas (ticketed separately), which transport guests high above the themed gardens. These glass-walled cabins provide breathtaking panoramic views and a unique perspective on the park’s harmonious integration of nature and urban design. Another thrilling attraction is the bob car ride (ticketed separately). This nature bobsled run turns the park’s gentle slopes into an exhilarating course, offering an exciting blend of physics, natural topography, and imaginative engineering. The bob car ride adds an element of adventure that contrasts beautifully with the serene garden settings, inviting both young and old to experience the park in a dynamic way. Equally enchanting is the playground centered around a giant climbing whale. This whimsical structure encourages physical activity and creative play, transforming a simple play area into an interactive art installation. The playground’s oversized features and vibrant design stimulate the imagination while providing a safe and engaging environment for children. In every corner, Gärten der Welt demonstrates how thoughtful design can combine cultural inspiration with modern recreational elements. It is a destination where art, nature, and engineering converge, creating a memorable experience that delights the senses and sparks intellectual curiosity. Every element, from soaring cable cars to adrenaline-pumping rides and imaginative playgrounds, reflects a masterful interplay between art and functional design, leaving visitors inspired.

Beautiful and huge place. They have summer wagen, rope way and many other interesting things. A small place for kids to play. The chinese garden is very very beautiful and a must visit. The cherry blossoms were wonderful. We visited during cherry blossom festival and it was a blast. They had a show for Japanese orchestras and singing. Some food stalls with Japanese and other foods, people dressed like anime characters! It was a great experience. The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. Some parts of the garden need a ticket to visit so that is worth noting.
