We went here to look for the northern lights, we had the best time! When we arrived we were taken to have some history about the lodge, lots of information and photos. The staff member was a young French lady with excellent English and very enthusiastic. Then we were lucky enough to be told the lights were outside! Very magical! The staff also willing to take photos. |We were then treated to hot drinks and snacks followed by a short walk to meet the Huskies they were lovely very friendly and loved all the attention. Again all the staff were kind and answered questions whilst telling us about the huskies. |We had a magical time and thank you to all the staff who made it possible - I will never forget it.

We stayed at the Gargia Lodge in Dec '25. Despite some bad weather and clouds (even with projected Kp values as low as 1) we got multiple nights of lovely northern lights viewing, right outside our cabin doors. In fact we could check the sky through the window - and just step out when it was clear & sure enough there would be a show to see soon after. Multiple activities (dog sledding, snowmobiles etc) into the Bæskades plateau start right at the lodge... and we had an even better light show with a snowmobile trip to the plateau. The location was very important especially on bad weather days - we had two days where we had to cancel long drives due to bad coastal weather and closures on E6/E69 and it was easy to stay around Gargia Lodge to do short hikes and snowshoeing. In contrast, if you are in Alta city (or perhaps even Tromso) with that weather, I'd imagine you are pretty much stuck indoors. The unique topography of the area around Gargia Lodge means that even with strong cloud cover, it was possible to drive out either north, south or east to find additional activities in pockets of clear weather (ChatGPT and Windy are helpful). The best part of the lodge is perhaps the staff. Very pleasant and always eager to help - without being intrusive !

If you want a really Norwegian Artic experience this lodge is perfect.. the location is in the middle of the Gargia valley.. and all the fun activities that you can do over there.. such as dogsledge.. snowshoe walking... snowmobile rides... and since it is located far from the city it is a perfect place to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis)... the staff was perfect... not measuring efforts to make you happy and satisfied... the only but was the room lights... it could be more illuminated inside the bedroom...

Due to an issue with Norwegian Airlines, we were forced to lay over here for 24 hours…. What a fantastic experience!!… The welcome from Rose was great, the food was hearty and simply delicious and the bed in my Room, no.1 was simply like sleeping on clouds…. Wonderful, unexpected experience, whole heartedly recommend a stay here!

An absolute blissful location and fulfilled every wish we had for a stay in Norway. Tranquil setting, with stunning scenery and friendly, hospitable hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they were able to cater to my vegetarian dietary requirements. The food was delicious and it was lovely getting to eat in the lodge with beautiful views out into the trees and hillside. We’ve always dreamed of staying in a log cabin next to snowy mountains but aren’t confident driving on the opposite side of the road so we’re glad to find a holiday package which meant we were able to get somewhere that felt remote, easily. The accommodation was clean, warm and cosy. The activities were brilliant, especially the dog sledding and we enjoyed the snowmobiling in the darkness. I would throughly recommend.

We spent some days there in January to watch aurora borealis (aka northern lights). The lodge is really a good place, far out in the country side, not much light pollution. The team is so helpful and they really take care to make it a good stay, very personal and considering. Like visiting friends you know for ages. Everything is not large scale but very individual, loved the sauna at -20 (do take slippers, barefoot only for 2 minutes). This place is authentic and not about super luxury, and well worth the price. Fully recommend snow mobile, dogsledding (have ample time to cuddle the huskies, if you like dogs)!

The food was nice and had different dietary options upon request and they were quite accommodating. We also had their two course dinner which was about 100 gbp with dessert and alcohol for the two of us and the vegetarian food was so nice. It was very easy to book activities which you could do it online or via the reception. The staff were very helpful and give us great recommendations. Gargia Lodge is in a small secluded area 30mins drive from shops so I would keep that in mind. We would love to visit again.
