Beautiful place with wonderful service and food! We came in and was offered a table in the middle of shop, situated between the kitchen and the wine shop. I liked it since I get to see all the actions from greeting customers to dropping off dirty napkins with a laundry service. Each dish was beautiful, fresh and delicious. And the dessert was really good as I'm a fan of passion fruit!! It was also a nice surprise that they served a couple of amuse bouche - compliments on the house.

Gem of a restaurant in Bordeaux. Setting was lovely. Food was delicious, and they catered specifically for my pregnant wife. The wine pairing was exceptional. Bonus that it doubles up as a wine shop! Definitely worth a visit!

Good restaurant, the service was great and they were very accommodating to our dietary preferences and the food served was delicious. Was better than most other restaurants with a star I have eaten in.

Taste sensation! The food was excellent, for a Michelin star restaurant however we felt the service didn’t quite match the food, for example there was no explanation of the dishes & the wines paired, the way in which the server presented the food missed the opportunity to celebrate the dish to complete the overall dining experience. Having said that we agree with previous reviews that the food is outstanding and the chef/s should be congratulated for such an interesting ‘surprise’ menu.

Phenomenal food - set menu with specific composition based on likes/dislikes, allergies... everything was colorful and exquisite and intriguing blends of tastes. The wine pairing was also easy to manage and based on own desires. The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable. Loved our experience there. Definitely a must-do in Bordeaux!

A bit too much Japonaise influence, but dishes are very creative and beautiful presentation. Of course, taste is excellent. We like smoked scallops! Very comfortable atmosphere with attained service. Their wine matching looks very interesting.

Excellent and creative fixed menu. The lobster bisque with pickled mushrooms was amazing.

Yelp
(Last visited 7/8/2021.) Working in Bordeaux for a couple of weeks and it's been a dream of mine to eat at a Michelin Star restaurant. If you don't know what a Michelin Star restaurant is... it's a restaurant that has achieved one of the highest ratings in the world. So much has to happen in order to be awarded a star. Imagine if there were an illuminati and they gave out awards to the best restaurants in the world. That's how it works. Lol. There are 3 levels to the Michelin Star... 1 star, 2 stars and 3 stars which are the best of the best. These stars also have to be won EVERY year. You don't just get the star and keep it. You gotta maintain that status. So, being in Europe, this place is FLOODED with them because this is where the Michelin Star game started. So, I did some research and found this relatively affordable place (for lunch) and decided to pull the trigger. Here's what happened... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off of 62 Rue Abbé de l'Epée is this masterpiece. There's no parking lot or anything like that, so good luck finding a garage nearby or risking it all with street parking in France. Lol. Once inside you're greeted by lots of natural light, shelves of wine and just a homey feel. It makes you feel like you walked into someone's home and that's very comforting. Once past the wine area you walk right in front of the kitchen where you can see the wizards of Garopapilles performing their spells to get things to taste like they did. Then you're greeted by about 4 to 6 tables, depending on the reservations that were made that day. By the way, YOU NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS for here or else there simply won't be a table for you. To the right of the dining area is the outdoor area where you can dine on warmer days and it's also the garden where the chef's pick their herbs and greens to perform magic with! Service: Service was exquisite of course. We did the lunchtime pairing and included the wine addition. There were 2 servers running food and taking incredible care of us. They both made sure to explain the dishes we were served and why the wine that was served with it was chosen. It was awesome. Food: Here's the complicated part. Lol. I may not be able to explain all of the dishes to you so I'm going to direct you to the pictures that are posted along with this review. So as I mentioned I did the lunchtime pairing and the dishes are chosen at random. I think that is the coolest thing. Literally, we had NO IDEA what we were going to get served AND, my date was served something different from what I got! So if we cooperated together we had the chance to taste 10 different dishes (if we wanted to share). Lol. It was such an amazing experience. We started with an amuse bouche that was shared between us that consisted of seaweed chips, some other sort of nacho-salsa something-or-other and what looked like wontons. Course 1 was a very light seabass served with a delectable cream sauce. Course 2 was a lobster with artichoke and orange sauce. Such good and light flavors that are balances so well. Course 3 (that didn't really count as a course) was a salmon roe soup that was designed to cleanse the palate. It was deliciously salty and the roe has ZERO fishy taste. I couldn't believe it. They just exploded in your mouth when you bit into them and were incredible. Course 4 was an octopus gnocci that was SO DIFFERENT, but very delicious. The octopus cut like freaking steak. Course 5 started the desserts! We had some sort of ice cream, but I can't remember the flavor, just know it was good! Then finally, some chocolates to round out the lunch. The food here is OUT OF THIS WORLD and it's easy to see understand why this place holds that Michelin Star so proudly. Value: So to do the lunch course with as many as we had that would be €65.00. If you want one less plate it'll only be €45.00. This is a lot of money for lunch. Oh, by the way all those prices were per person. Again, it's a lot for lunch, but it's cheaper than the dinner portion. Lol. You wouldn't do this everyday... but maybe if you're a baller you would, but I wouldn't. It's a good treat and it's worth treating yourself to experience what the upper echelon of food is like. In conclusion... I'm sad. I was visiting the website to gather information for this review and the front page of the restaurant is an open letter to us saying this place is closing and a podcast to listen to explaining it. This stinks, but I wish them the best in their next endeavor. You will forever be in my heart as my first Michelin Star restaurant. Yelp
During our vacation time in Bordeaux we visted Garopapilles for lunch and had an exceptional experience! While the venue has an informal, laid back feel, the menu has a very broad cross-section of delicious cuisine, and everything we tried was not only delicious, but beautifully presented as well :-) After a spot-on consultation with our server we chose the tasting menu and were delighted with all the chef's choices. To compliment the menu, the sommelier offered (and we accepted) some perfect pairing recommendations. Dining outdoors (right be the herb garden) we enjoyed a leisurely meal, with each course more delicious than the next and the wines perfectly complimenting the flavors of our food. Service was flawless and woneerfully paced; I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy a five-star experience!

Yelp
Yeah... Michelin (one star) got this one right. I would say this was our second best meal (and certainly best lunch) we had in all of France. Our meal was absolutely perfect in every way. I don't need my notes for this one (we went three months ago). I'm not a big seafood fan but our tasting menu had not one but two fish courses that were beyond delectable. But if I'm being honest, my favorite dish (and one of my most favorite dishes of all time), was the foie gras ravioli. I know the menu will be different when you go, but if you're lucky you'll get this (pray for it)! Add in an excellent bottle of wine (they're a wine shop after all) and the best pigeon we had in all of Bordeaux, and the result is culinary excellence. Second best (out of a dozen) Michelin starred restaurant we experienced in France. Our compliments to the chef!

Yelp
One of our most memorable meals in France. It's in the back of a wine shop and packed with locals. I did the tasting menu with wine pairings for lunch which was an amazing value, want to say it was 35 euros without wine. It was a nice change from classic French bistro food, the flavors, presentation were bang on. We went before it got its star but well deserved.

Yelp
The dining area is behind the wine shop and is a nice open space with lots of natural light, open to the patio, which is really nice at lunch. They don't have a ton of seats, so definitely make a reservation (I made one online). They had a great deal at lunch - 3 courses for €35. We ended up getting a St Estephe for around €55. Amuse: Duck and foie gras cream with mousse and candied peanuts - lots of textures and flavors, a really great dish to start The 3 courses: 1. John Dory: with yuzu stock and white beans - this dish was a huge portion that was like the size of a main. It was a nice lighter dish 2. Duck: with wild carrots and cockles - very flavorful 3. Dessert: a tuille wrapped in a cylinder, filled with pear, chantilly cream, ice cream, passionfruit, and candies nuts. It tied together with the amuse perfectly, which I thought was super clever Before the dessert, we also did a cheese supplement. We shared one, but it was quite a big portion. It was an 18 month sheep's milk cheese that reminded me of parmigiano reggiano and it came with a green tomato jam that was really good with it To finish - with coffee, we had a mink chocolate tart and a coconut marshmallow. Some people took advantage of the patio and did coffee or drinks outside after lunch, which was a good idea. It's a low key place, but the food was great, and it was a really good value at €35 for all that food (tax and tip included)!

Yelp
Beautiful decor. Professional, helpful service. Great menu (tasting menus are well sized so careful to not over order), stunning presentation. Every single plate I had was divine. Well seasoned, flavourful. Cheese plate was the only disappointment. Service could be infused with some more personality to make the experience more fun!
