My brother, brother-in-law, and I wanted to experience Garozzo's for a special reason and it was highly recommended by friends who were in the area before. We were not disappointed in the least.
We came for lunch and we're the first ones in the restaurant at opening, but it filled up quickly. There's framed pictures of all the "famous" people who've eaten here, some family photos of the owners and his four daughters, and of course Frank and Dean.
All the staff that interacted with us were very friendly.
I had two Lemoncellotini which was lemoncello with vodka. My family wanted some beer but it turned out their draft system was out of order so they had to do bottles. A 17% Tank 7 and a Italian Moretti hit the spot. Our appetizer choices were oil and garlic (schmutz as my brother-in-law says), the Sicilian stuffed artichoke (so good), a tomato "Lombardo" salad, and some Ceasar salads.
Garozzo's is famous for inventing the "spiedini" which came in chicken, beef, or seafood. We went with two chicken and one beef. Outstanding. Lightly fried rolled meat with some seasoning and bread crumbs in a lemon sauce. You can choose any side pasta off the menu to go with it. I had the vodka blush sauce, one had the marinara. Both were excellent.
We ended with some limoncello cake, and the Cafe Garozzo's which was a liquor coffee. Also had cannolis. Unfortunately, the desserts are not made in-house but they were delicious.
Garozzo's also has a full bar and wine available including their own label Chianti which is a dry red. Today, wine was 1/2 price for takeout, and I bought two bottles for $22 each. I believe that they have the wine specials all the time.
We had a great meal and time at Garozzo's, and would absolutely come back. We were sorry to have missed meeting the owner.
About $212 not including tip, and they have built in their system a way to split everything how you want to pay. So, our three people each got a bill for 1/3 price of everything we ordered. First time for me seeing this!
