"Sipping Wine in a Bairro Alto Cellaret A cellaret in the middle of Bairro Alto, here you can sit outside. If there isn’t an empty bench, just ask for one and for something that can be used as a table—or sit inside in a room with bright colors on the walls, remembering the tradition of ancient gatherings, with a glass of wine and petiscos (snacks). The selections are red wine and Oporto wine. If you need help in choosing, just ask the waiter which one you should taste. To accompany, ask for a cheese from Azeitão or Niza; but if you feel really hungry, just go to the other side of the street, they also own a restaurant where you can sit outside and dine."
Food was good but the service from Wilson was PERFECT. He went above and beyond and we had an amazing time thanks to him !!!

Arrived in the middle of the night (23.00hrs), this place was open until 01.00hrs & the first Lisbon experience & boy did it meet expectations. It’s a Garrafeira (wine cellar) & their food comes from a restaurant next door. We were 2 pers & went straight for the famous Bacalau croquettes, grilled juicy sardines, steak sandwich with fries & sausage wt scrambled eggs 😋. Naturally took advantage of their variety of wine by the glass. Fantastic service 😉 as the knowledgeable & enthusiastic host poured more like 175ml than the stated 120ml glass of each wines we ordered 😜. So much wine, we “only” managed 3 whites & 2 reds. All Portuguese & 2 Lisbon specific. €73! Crazy great value! Exciting “tasting” with food & highly recommendable. Great value on top of it all! Saúde 🍷!

Do a reservation. The place can get crowded and it’s quite small. Great wines, great cheese, great conversation and good price! This place is awesome! The waiter really know what to suggest to you, the food is amazing. Get two kinds of cheese, some wine and just enjoy your moment. To finish the night, ask for a Moscatel de Setubal wine, it’s sweet and really good!

Fantastic food, very nice people and a beautiful quiet street. We shared The Bulhao Pato clams as a starter and then had the grilled sardines, of course, the iconic Lisbon dish. It was simply served and quite delicious with punched potatoes and salad. We also had a beautiful gambas açorda (bread mash). All that + drinks for not very expensive. Wonderful!

Chanced upon this gem on an insanely picturesque and quiet Lisbon side street. The service and food were stellar. We started with a seafood soup, sent with compliments from the chef, which was flavourful and perfectly balanced. The grilled bream main course was spectacular. Clean, perfectly charred, gorgeous. It was accompanied by the most addictive spinach and cabbage that made me rethink everything I believed about “boring” green vegetables. Heartily recommended this spot if you’re in the mood for a tranquil and delicious meal.

Added an fx charge by forcing us to pay in pounds which increased the already expensive bill by 5%
Ridiculous system where they bring out bread and spreads without asking. They are comically expensive. €3 for a tiny pate spread.
Scam restaurant with mediocre food. Avoid

We popped in her for a few small plates. The cod rice was very good, the sardines were also good but the octopus was a bit bland.

This place is great. It's small, calm and quiet on a side street and the atmosphere is relaxing. The waiters are polite and mellow and all prices are clearly marked in the menu for those who care to read it.
We ordered a soup that turned out to contain pasta and so my gluten-intolerant girlfriend couldn't eat it. It was obviously our own fault since we didn't ask from the beginning but they offered to exchange it for the vegetable soup. When the bill came the first soup wasn't on it and when we tried pointing this out so that we could pay for that as well there must have been a miscommunication and they lowered the bill even more! (we left all the cash we had as a tip to make up for the difference as much as possible.). The food was simple, well balanced and tasty. The wines were great. I'm sad that I didn't have time to go back there during this visit to Lisbon, but if I ever make it back this is a place I will visit again.

Yelp
If you like musty, old, and poor service, this is the pace for you! Not only was the entire place empty (should've been a sign), the server acted annoyed that we were ordering.
I heard it was rated by Travel and Leisure back in 2010, but it's 2015 and this place needs some help.

Yelp
Hole in the wall wine bar. We were sent here by another wine bar which was full for the evening. We were given a little post it note with the details, and sent on our way.
The wine really was great, but the atmosphere was definitely lacking. We sat in a corner and saw a few other people come in with similar post it notes, which made me laugh. Do you think these guys ask more popular spots to recommend them?
Again, the wine was great, but we got out of there after one glass.

Yelp
We went by Garrafeira Alfaia on our trip to Lisbon. It was Saturday night, and the place was slightly busy. We were directed to a table that was in a corner out of view of the service station. This could have something to do with the pretty poor service we received. However, the waiter was dotting on the 3 French couples surrounding us without ever looking over. We speak English to each other, but live in Madrid so we know how to get a waiter's attention and speak Romance languages. The food was tasty, but nothing special neither was the wine offerings. You can get better food, and the same wine at other establishments in Lisbon without being ignored.

Yelp
Travel and Leisure named this the best wine bar in 2010. I think this still holds true. I was the only one there at first, which personally is a bad sign, but in the end, I'm glad I was! I was able to talk to the owner about the menu and his travels over a delicious glass of wine. All of the wines on the menu are from Portugal, so you truly get the best wine experience in Lisbon.

Yelp
A real nice little bar. They have great rock n roll and actually que it up from CDs. It's run by two sisters and they keep things going all night. It's a great place to take a break from the Barrio Alto crazy pace.
