We came here for dinner because not many places are open on a Sunday but this was. Really friendly service. Not many places still do spätzle but this was one of them and it was delicious! Had a lovely toasty char to them and were great to accompany meat. Also reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in the area. Restaurant was comfortable with a great ambience.

Stayed here on our way to hiking in the Alpstein region. The hotel is just a stone's throw from the main square in Appenzell city. Our room was traditional (good) and comfortable, well kept and very clean. Our meals were excellent, served in a very pleasant and traditional dining room. (To our fellow Americans: keep in mind that sometimes they will seat you at the same table as people you don't know). The staff was cordial and attentive, but did not speak English (not a problem for us).

The place is very cozy and the beds are veery comfortable. Switzerland is expensive but for this Gasthaus which includes breakfast is not bad at all. Super central and only 5 minutes from Appenzell main station! The staff was also very friendly and if you want to eat there during the night is worth every cent :)!

Very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Excellent bath room. Also very clean. Breakfast: Maybe some fruits would have be nice, not only cereals and yoghurt. But all in all nice to pass a night or more in the heart of Appenzell. Thank you GASTHAUS HOTEL HOF.

We came to Appenzell for the first time to visit the Brewery and decided to defer lunch until we arrived. The service here is fabulous, and the food delicious and very competitively priced, which is always a nice surprise with the pound as it is 😁 I highly recommend if you're in town and passing by. Fabulous service. Vielen Dank zum alles!

The staff at this hotel are the friendliest and most obliging we have ever experienced. They waited for us for a late arrival due to plane delays, prepared us delicious sandwiches and drinks, all without any stress. The breakfasts are wonderful, the rooms very comfortable and clean. Our evening meal was delicious and served quickly in spite of the fact the restaurant was full. We cannot fault this hotel and its staff. We will be back.

Yelp
I had a very positive experience. We sat outside on a beautiful 71 degree sunny day. I had a local Appenzeller beer, and my wife had a glass of wine. The two of had a very flavorful Herb fondue with wild onion and Appenzeller cheese. The waitress checked in with us many times and asked if we wanted more bread or cheese. For dessert, we split a half order of cinnamon ice cream, with Alpenbitter liquor herbal cream, and meringue. Yum.
