Gasthof "Alter Wirt"

We just ate at the restaurant. The food quality was excellent and the waiter service was the best ever!

This is a great typically Bavarian hotel. We had a very friendly welcome and our room was very large very clean and decorated in the Tyrolean style. Good bathroom with a large excellent shower. Dinner was good and breakfast excellent. Easy parking outside and a nice park a stroll away in which to stretch your legs. We really enjoyed our stay here and the staff are very friendly and professional.

We were there for food; service was good, quick, and attentive. They offer authentic Bavarian food. Our orders came really quick, so we were even a bit skeptical about the quality, but it was absolutely fine. Can definitely recommend going there if you look for a place in the area.

Clean, comfortable, welcoming, with very friendly staff. Ate dinner both nights at the restaurant, and of course both breakfasts were included. Meals were substantial, with good variety and excellent quality. The room was well stocked and furnished, and views were good. We had a really nice stay, except for the incredible traffic noise all night and the church bells the next morning. Though parking was free, there was a charge for IInternet, which I think it was down at the time. I highly recommend this hotel.

Spontaneously (no reservation made) we decided to have dinner here. I ordered the Pfifferlinge. The service was fast, friendly, with a smile.||And the food was delicious!! The best Pfifferlinge I had in a long long time! My partner had a great meal too but he had to admit that mine was the best!

This cosy hotel with nice cafe is located in the center of Lofer close to the mountain lifts. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is friendly and helpful. At the breakfast we got delicious croissants from its own bakery.

It might get a little noisy during high season, but in late fall it was just perfect. ||Unhappily the computer had a problem but they were about to have it fixed.||The building and furniture is so authentic, it's a place with personality, you don't need to be reminded where you are. The memory of the hotel is so easily to be placed in Bayern...

If you are planning a trip to the Chiemsee area, the Alter Wirt (and Bernau) is the perfect place to stay. Bernau is close to the Autobahn and Lake Chiemsee, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. We had some of the best food on our two-week trip at the restaurant, which has a small biergarten on the side. It's not as fancy (or pricey) as the neighboring Hotel Bonnschloss, but the staff are friendly, the rooms are large and clean, and the inn is charming. It is easy to make reservations using their website (and you don't need to speak German).||||Prien is a short drive, and it's easy to find the boat dock if you want to visit Herrenchiemsee and Fraueninsel (I think I spelled those correctly). If you go early (9:00 AM or so) you have plenty of time to visit both islands, and you get a good parking spot. Fraueninsel has several restaurants to chose from, and very fresh fish. We stopped here before going to Munich and really enjoyed the mountain scenery. You can easily drive up into the Alps (but watch out for the Austrian border nearby).
