Gates Pass Scenic Lookout

One of the best spots for sunset in Tucson. Careful when hiking for higher spots/grounds. Can be slippery with all the small rocks and sands. Parkings can be full quickly during sunsetting.

Easy ride up & back through forests of cacti! Beautiful views. Tight parking at the top. Bathrooms available but bring your own air freshener or hold your nose.

Beautiful sightseeing location, especially during sunset!! It is so fun to drive up the lookout, the road is really nice and wavy, and the desert is gorgeous, even in December. Cacti everywhere make it look like a fairytale.

Such a beautiful area to hike and enjoy, I love coming here! Though, I was actually shocked at the amount of dog feces left around everywhere and had to throw away my shoes because of it. P.S. If you're going to bring your pet, please, please remember to clean up after them! (if you forget to bring clean up equipment, digging a small hole and burying it works too, and keeps people's shoes from being ruined) 🥰

WOW! Gates Pass in Saguaro National Park is absolutely gorgeous! We enjoyed a stunning sunset motorcycle ride through the mountains, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. I’ve never seen so many Saguaro cacti all in one place—it's truly a sight to behold! This spot is perfect for capturing incredible photos. The trails in the area offer great opportunities for walking and soaking in the beauty around you. Just a tip: make sure to wear the right shoes for the terrain and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. There are numerous places to pull off and park, allowing you to walk around and fully enjoy the scenery. I recommend getting there early, especially for sunset viewing, as it tends to get busy. Also, there's a restroom available, which is a nice convenience. Overall, Gates Pass is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature and stunning views!

Beautiful spot to watch the sunset. It was crowded and hard to find parking so keep that in mind. We ended up driving back down and finding a less crowded spot to watch the sunset. Stunning area…def worth the drive.
