The property itself is stunning. Perched on a hill with peacocks roaming around, it has a strong heritage charm and a great location. The surroundings are clean, classy, and exactly what one expects from a Taj heritage property.
Unfortunately, the experience fell short where it mattered most — hospitality.
During dinner, the restaurant staff appeared extremely busy and oddly selective in their engagement. They actively interacted with and sought feedback from a few guests (mostly foreigners and North Indians) while ignoring others at nearby tables. This selective attentiveness was very noticeable and uncomfortable.
Dinner was included in our package, yet when our 4-year-old was hungry at around 6:30 PM, the staff had nothing to offer. The response was casual and dismissive — we were simply told to order from the menu if we wanted anything. For a brand that prides itself on warmth and care, especially toward families and children, this was disappointing. Epicure membership status was not acknowledged.
Cleanliness was another concern. While the room looked clean at first glance, it failed the basic “under-the-bed test.” There was a visible heap of dirt underneath, suggesting the area hadn’t been cleaned properly for a long time (photo attached).
In summary, the location and heritage value are excellent, but the service quality does not reflect Taj standards. The warmth, attentiveness, and proactive care that define Taj hospitality were clearly missing during our stay.
