You should never leave a fine dining meal tired from all the hard conversations you had, but tonight I feel this way....
Colin was off to such a good start describing the menu, showing personality, our little family of 3 watched a gorgeous sunset, enjoyed our drinks. Kid ordered a Caesar salad adding blackened ahi, hold the anchovies. I ordered the fish with pancit noodles that Colin RAVED ABOUT. I explained i am annoying with some weird diet restrictions but he was super adamant that everything was made fresh. I said ok, just remove celery, bell pepper and cabbage and I want everything else. No problem, he said.
We enjoyed our bread, then had a noticeably long wait for the entrees. There was a wedding reception there too so maybe that impacted the service.
Anyway, the food finally arrived and daughter's salad has anchovies all over it. My fish has celery and peppers. Waited for Colin to come by and check on us. He did not. He was busy talking up other tables. Finally tracked him down. He apologized and took our food away. A few mins later a new salad arrived for the kid, and she was happy.
Waited and waited for mine. Finally again random person drops it in front of me. It is LITERALLY a dry piece of fish on plain noodles. I asked him to remove 3 things (No problem he said) and now they removed everything. No garlic, onions, green onions, carrots and who knows what else. Very very wrong! So again, I felt terrible but called poor Colin over and said I'm going to eat this, but it's wrong. He couldn't really say anything this time. His whole bravado changed and he just seemed awkward.
My meal was bland. It lacked a lot with just fish and noodles and nothing else. It was not acceptable.
I was clear with Colin about this. He apologized again. As he took our food away he said he felt bad and was going to personally send us out something special to make up for it.
Then a woman who i assume was a manager came and asked how our meal was. So I very directly and succinctly explained the issues. She apologized and asked if she could give us a free dessert, to which I looked at my phone and we had been there nearly 2 hours. I said Colin already said he was sending over a dessert but honestly we just kind of wanted to go. She walked away.
Colin dropped a bowl of plain vanilla ice cream in front of us and said "I heard you don't want this but here" and walked away.
My girls were uncomfortable and left me to handle paying the bill. Colin said "we took 50% off your entree" because of the trouble. To me, this was not even close to a reasonable solution, but I was tired so I apologize to Colin as I took it out of his tip. Still paid $180 for 2 out of 3 meals coming out wrong and 1 never getting fixed.
Great atmosphere. Beautiful spot. Colin seems like a nice young man. They just screwed the pooch tonight.
