I was really excited to support a local shop like Gaathershop in the Hallen, Amsterdam. The store is beautifully curated, and I bought a pair of earrings thinking the quality matched the aesthetic. Unfortunately, after only the second wear, just a couple of hours, one of the pearls came loose.
I brought them back, hoping for a solution. Sadly, they couldn’t repair them, and the model was no longer available. I was open to exchanging them for another pair, even if it meant paying the difference. Instead, I was told I could be refunded for one earring, but only if I returned the broken one. So I’ve been left with a single earring… I guess for someone with only one ear?
I left disappointed and a little disheartened. I had planned to buy five more pairs as gifts for upcoming birthdays , thankfully I waited. I really wanted to love this place, and I still hope they rethink how they handle customer care. Sometimes it’s not just about the product, but how people are treated when things go wrong.
