An Insider's Guide to Ottawa, Canada

"An expansive outdoor playground with more than 120 miles of dog-friendly hiking trails and diverse recreational options—canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on Lac Philippe or Lac La Pêche, mountain biking, and backcountry camping—popular with outdoor adventurers and best enjoyed with campsite reservations booked months in advance." - Alexandra Emanuelli

First time coming to Gatineau Park, and I only visited Pink Lake. It was really beautiful and fun to hike with family and friends. It's a shame though that a lot of the trees are still green and you can't full enjoy those Fall colours, despite it being mid-October. I would give it a couple more weeks if you're planning on visiting this Fall to see the magical colours

Really loved visiting the park. Open from 12 PM. Lot of spots in between the routes. Trials, estates, look-out spots, lakes, etc. It's worth spending a few hours over there. It's perfect in summer and fall. A few minutes drive from ottawa downtown. You can get the bus service from the starting point through the park. Pink lake and lookout spots were my favorite. I have noticed many people cycling along the path. Its a perfect spot for them too.

The park’s diverse terrain includes lush forests, serene lakes, and breathtaking viewpoints, making it an ideal location for capturing the beauty of nature. In the fall, the vibrant foliage creates a colorful tapestry that’s perfect for vibrant landscape shots. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their photography game in a stunning natural setting.

Best place in the National Capital region for outdoor activities. Hiking, inline skating, biking of any kind: road, mountain, gravel, fatbike. Also a great place for winter sports like snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc... Cars are not always allowed on the parkways which is great for cycling in summer. Look at the NCC schedule to plan your visit. There are some shelters that are free and available all year round. Definitely a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts.

Really nice trail. 66 connects to the Gatineau park pathway, 67 and 5. You can get to Pioneer Trail, Lac des Fees pathway. Great hike. Note that wild leeks are endangered and should not be picked. There's a wide variety of wildlife you might be fortunate enough to see. About as many cyclists as hikers. There are some inclines, but nothing too difficult for kids. I'd suggest leaving the stroller at home, however, especially if you go off the paved trails. There are not much in the way of rest areas along the trail itself, though there is the occasional parking lot. At the end of April there were only as handful of areas that were hard to cross on account of wet/muddy conditions.

It was my first time there ( probably the last time). For a person not from the west, it was like a windows wallpaper. Autumn was gorgeous beyond words but the leaves are fragile so u need to visit as soon as Autumn starts, because if it rains once, the leaves are gone

excellent hiking and biking trails. provides a mix of paved or non-paved trails. Autumn leaves are a real treat. it is a short hike to King Mountain where you can look over all of Ottawa. Signs posted for No Pets. There were several free parking lots.

Amazing place to be. Beautiful maple leafs and the Great Lake views. Highly recommended for families to go. The only drawback is the public bathroom not very well maintained. It really stinks. Hopefully this situation can be improved.
