We went for the NYE service They were BUSY! But the service was amazing, the staff were so friendly even with some wait, everything was great! Complimentary drinks and amazing food which came out well presented and tasted great! The scallops were exceptional Would recommend to anyone for a date or a meal out with a friend as there is a special vibe in there where it seems to work in synergy with the food!

Had a spectacular visit to Gaucho for my Birthday with my partner. The service from Viola was phenomenal, absolutely delightful host who paid close attention to us and was very helpful with wine and drink selection and making sure we were well looked after. Bringing me a complementary dram of whisky in place of a dessert (since I didn’t have any more room) was a lovely gesture and well appreciated. The only room for improvement would have been on my steak, which I felt a little bit underwhelming in terms of flavour - I ordered one of the marinated steaks and thought it would be a bit more flavourful. That said, my partner ordered the plain ribeye which was definitely delicious. Thanks to Viola and the rest of the team for a lovely evening.

Food, service and atmosphere were all 1st class. Love the marinated fillet steak and the wine list of endless. We got advice from our server to help navigate it. Worth noting that waiting staff only get 15% of the service charge so have it removed and pay it in cash so they get 100% of it.

It was the absolute best place to spend my birthday dinner. The hostesses were the most welcoming, my server was always making sure I had everything and gave me a brief rundown of the drinks menu. The meal was served fairly fast so I never had to wait for too long. I had the chimichurri ribeye (10 stars if I could!!!) with fries and Mac and cheese. And for my starter, the cheese and truffle croquettes. They also gave me a complimentary cheesecake for my birthday and it was the perfect dessert. Honestly I cannot compliment them enough but I will 100% be going back and telling everyone. Thank you!

This was my family’s one nice dinner out during our vacation to Scotland and heard excellent things about this place - exceptional food and service among them. Was underwhelmed on most accounts. Did love the restaurant when we first arrived - lush and cozy inside for sure but louder than expected. To our servers credit it did seem like we were sat during a busy time but service was very slow, waited at least 10-15 minutes from our servers intro for him to even pop by the table again - had to flag someone else down to ask to take our order. The service wasn’t very personable as a result throughout the duration of the meal. I ordered a steak with sautéed spinach and mentioned I couldn’t do the chimichurri because of the heat of the chilis - so I was surprised when the spinach arrived and I bit into it and was met with a mouthful of chili and spices. I certainly should have clarified what was the spinach cooked with - but also the waiter should have had some foresight when I mentioned the no chimchurri to give me a heads up about the spinach. My filet was cooked very well however was certainly chewier than I expected. Again for a 68 pound steak it was very underwhelming. My family did enjoy their roast dinner. Reading all the amazing reviews and having heard all the amazing things about this place - disappointed it did not come close to the expectations. Wouldn’t really recommend or go back after this experience.

We had a table booked for 7 people here on new year's eve for 9pm, we arrived about 20 minutes early and were told the table was probably going to be late and that the upstairs bar was too full so we waited. They did manage to get the table ready for 9pm which was great. The woman who greeted us was lovely and incredibly apologetic that we couldn't fit in the bar. We all ordered the Christmas set menu which was starter, main and dessert for £45. The starters came quickly and were lovely. The problems started with the main course. It came incredibly quickly after the starter and the portions were very small. Most of us got the rump steak and it came out looking quite bad and messy. It looked small but did fill us up. The others got the fish and the turkey which were very small. They then ordered an extra steak as they were still hungry. However, the steak came out as the same time as dessert which also came out super quickly. As soon as we were finished eating we felt pressured into leaving, even though there was no time limit on the booking. We ordered coffees and were planning on waiting to let the food digest but the servers all seemed to be staring at us so we eventually left, feeling quite uncomfortable. Besides this, our waiter was very lovely and helpful. Wouldn't recommend this place unfortunately. Lots of other tables were there before us and didn't seem to be being pressured to leave so we were a bit confused.

We’ve been to Gaucho Tower Bridge, but this one was so much nicer in every way. The decoration is amazing and the staff is so friendly. The food was really nice too. I really enjoyed the empanadas. The fact that it’s in the centre of the city is really convenient because it’s a good way to run away from the touristy places without having to go too far from the city. I certainly recommend it if you’re not on a budget.

Google
Booked Gaucho for an early birthday dinner for my partner whilst visiting Edinburgh. Service was brilliant from the start, and our waitress was so attentive. We ordered from the festive set menu and each course was brought out so quickly. And, most importantly, the food was absolutely stunning! Couldn’t fault any part of our experience. Thank you.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I savored every bite that I put into my mouth at the Gaucho. That alone is worth 5 stars. The chateubriand ordered medium rare was spot on but remember that as beef sits, it may just get a tiny bit more cooked. The spinach was savory, the cooked bib lettuce was awesome, and the side salad was excellent. The "mess dessert" was mouth watering accompanied by the cappuccino and the carmel cheesecake was the best ever. The wait staff attentive.

Yelp
Decent steak house with a very nice ambiance. The dining area is absolutely beautiful, but the steaks were very mediocre. Service was good and empanadas were a good starter.

Yelp
5 stars isn't enough to rate Gaucho! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal there after the new year , luckily were able to get a reservation but we almost weren't able to get it. I highly recommend the beef empanadas, we also had the beef tartar and the filet of beef! Absolutely delicious everything is great!

Yelp
Great venue. Beautifully done. Wonderful service. Worst steaks I have ever eaten. We had the sampler. Most expensive on the menu. From first bite absolutely COLD. Terrible. Zero warmth. None! I never send food back so we ate cold left over steak. A total waste of money and time. If I come back to Edinburgh I will stay as far away from this place as I can except to perhaps have a drink. Those were great. I simply cannot tell you what a grave disappointment this was. There was a huge group of obviously more important people than is in thier "wine room" and they got all the attention and I am guessing all the properly warm steaks. Ours were terrible. Sad since it is a very warm space. Good servers. Nice drinks. Terrible food. I am leading a group with 37 people and send many others here. This will no longer be on our list

Yelp
Now as a lifelong vegetarian, you may wonder why I rate Gaucho, well they have a splendid veggie selection. I was impressed that the sommelier knew which wines were veggie friendly and when they bring the tray of meat cuts to the table to talk through options, they first asked me if it was ok, which was appreciated. There is a private dining room which looks gorgeous and the decor is pretty lovely. Price wise, a little expensive and a treat.

Yelp
very nice restaurant, the service impeccable we ordered a fillet and a sirloin, I was disappointed with the fillet. I tried my wife's and her sirloin was delicious. A for effort but that fillet was neither soft or well cooked. I can take raw but at least the quality needs to be what I paid for.

Yelp
Five adults eating for dinner at Gaucho last night. Overall, a wonderful experience. A beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and good vibe. The drinks were wonderful... From whiskey, to specialty drinks, to carafes of red and white wine. Our service was rated a 4 out of 5. Our server was attentive and fairly good, but few things were forgotten and we had to keep asking for water, side dishes that didn't arrive, and a few other reminders. The appetizers, burrata and empanadas, were very tasty and started the meal off the right way. The steaks were all incredible. One person said it was the best steak they've ever had. We had ribeyes, the tira de ancho, and the whole sea bass. All cooked incredibly well and seasoned. Delicious. However, not one person liked any of the various side dishes. We had creamy mash that wasn't very creamy, but dry and tasteless. Really bad. Surprising in the UK when it is such a staple. The truffle mac & cheese was not good, and the steamed broccoli was not cooked right. Overall, very disappointed in the side dishes. They should do better for such a nice restaurant. The desserts that we chose were the brownie and the whipped ice cream (or something). Both were very tasty. Overall, a wonderful experience. Great booth table for five. I'd go back, but I would probably reconsider the side dishes even if it came with a steak.

Yelp
This was an excellent choice, we came in last minute as we just arrived in Edinburgh. The service was excellent, and the food was amazing! This is was by far the best food we had so far in our trip to Europe. Definitely recommend this place. We went with suggestions from the waiter, and it did not disappoint.
