10 Best Places to Go Fly Fishing in the US

"Set within a national recreation area, this remote, scenic river offers trout, walleye and smallmouth bass amid rugged beauty and solitude, making it a standout destination for anglers who value both challenging fishing and dramatic landscapes; nearby lake access and riverside lodging expand trip options." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. One of the most beautiful rivers in the country! So nice in fact, we purchased a piece of property last year on it! Incredible white water rafting, fishing, etc. The water is crystal clear year-round.

This review in regards to rafting ... For the eastern U.S., the upper Gauley is THE pinnacle of whitewater rafting. With numerous 3, 4, 5 and off-scale sections, the adventure seeker is assured in finding fulfillment. As you might imagine, there is a large support system & plenty of competent rafting/guide companies to choose from. *If you've never been rafting before, I advise you take on at least a couple rivers with Class III rapids before signing up for the Gauley (simply to gain the experience & become accustomed in properly responding to the guide's commands).
