Five stars for a perfect fish dish! We had an amazing dinner at Gavião do Ilhéu (don’t ask me how to pronounce it). The fish was absolutely perfect – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. We started with a tuna tartare that was so fresh, it felt like it had just jumped out of the ocean. The service was super friendly and welcoming, just how you’d imagine a cozy little harbour spot to be. Tucked away in the charming streets around the harbour, this place is a real gem. If you’re nearby: go, eat, enjoy, thank me later.

We had the fish of the day - Red snapper and 3 different side dishes (the sweet potatoes are to die for). We loved it! Perfect service and delicious food! The food was simple, local and cooked to perfection.

Very good restaurant with nice prices and great service. We ate scabbard fish with banana and another one with maracuja glaze. Dishes were served nicely and fast. The waiters are very professional. The food was amazing. Vinho Verde very good.

We had high expectations for this restaurant but unfortunately, they were not met. The Nikita was too sweet, the meat in the skewer was chewy and just the fish in the mixed platter was good. Service was very kind and the price was low.

Gavião do Ilhéu in Câmara de Lobos is a must-visit for seafood lovers! We had the best seafood rice of our trip, meant for two people but easily enough for three, with bold and refined flavors and a generous amount of seafood. The pesto pasta was fresh and delicious, and the vegetable crème soup was simply fantastic. The garlic bread was perfectly prepared, adding just the right touch to the meal. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is charming, both outside and inside. A wonderful spot for a memorable dining experience—highly recommended!

Ordered salad with octopus and grilled calamari . Food was delicious! The best that I’ve tried on the island. Highly recommend.

Choice of fresh fish that will be cooked for you. Grilled limpets for a start was a very good choice, the sauce was amazing, absolutely delicious. Service was without any fault and sitting outside on a beautiful sunny street was a pleasure.

Beware: tourist trap! Don't order fish by weight. When ordering the 'fresh fish' or 'fish of the day', the staff tries to point to you to that dish on the menu; one of the few dishes they price per KG. Me and my girlfriend ordered two types of fresh fish (we got dorade which we ordered, and parrot fish, which we didn't order..). We finished the fish and it wasn't bad, but when we got the bill it said we got 2.3KG of fish. For 96 euro! We did see the kg-price on the menu, but they put a much heavier weight on the bill (because you can't check). I've worked in fishmarkets for nearly 8 years. I know the head of any fish etc has weight aswell, which you price, but can't eat. But that does NOT account for 2.3kg fish for two people. We have been on the island for 5 months now and had many restaurants with better fresh fish at 1/2 to even 1/4 of the price! When confronting the staff, you get the classic excusing talk: "but we have the prices on the menu" and "but you liked the food, yes?". Recommend to stay clear of this place. Truly a shame they do this, because they have other dishes that are prepared quite well and are indeed reasonable priced.
