Food was very good. Not overly seasoned. Nice atmosphere with a bar. Seems like it’s a good space for groups. We came here for lunch. Their portions are generous for a la carte. The tomato kimchi (salad) banchan was very unique and delicious. Never seen something like that before. Recommend it for lunch and dinner.

I was invited to an after-party and decided to check this place out. The modern Asian-inspired decor created a great atmosphere, and the seafood dishes were fresh and delicious. While the meat could have been cooked a bit better, I highly recommend the fish! Overall, I left feeling satisfied.

I loved the food here. My favorite was the scallion seafood pancakes and the dumplings. I also had their samples of kimchi, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale dishes. The main fish was the beef soup with glass noodles and rice. Was very delicious. I would recommend 👌 highly.

I recently hosted my luncheon bridal shower at Gayeon, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Dina was incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process and paid close attention to every detail I requested. She allowed us to decorate the room as we liked, and we were able to arrive early and stay late for setup and cleanup, which made the day so much easier. The food was delicious and perfectly timed, with a mix of family-style and individual plates that catered to all of our guests, even those unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. We started with the seafood pancake and chicken gangjung as appetizers, and everyone absolutely loved them—they were a big hit! One standout was the bibimbap, which came with the rice in individual bowls, while the toppings and barbecue (bulgolgi) were served family style, allowing everyone to customize their dish easily. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient, making sure everyone felt welcome. We were in the back room, which was spacious enough to comfortably fit our 50 guests, and with two additional 4-person tables empty, the space could have accommodated up to 58 people. The restaurant was also very accommodating with high chairs, making it easier for families with young children. I highly recommend Gayeon for anyone planning a larger party, engagement party, bridal shower or baby shower, especially if you want to celebrate with delicious Korean food. The team goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better venue for my special day!

We came here for a ladies dinner night and it was fantastic! Big fans of the specialty cocktails. Definitely start off with the calamari salad, which was delicious and had the right amount of spiciness. They beautifully presented the meats for the Korean bbq and made sure to recommend which sauces and sides they should be paired with. Lastly, you need to save room for dessert. The textures from the chocolate, cookie, and nuts were so complimentary to the ice cream. Shoutout to the staff for being super friendly and patient as we asked about different items in the menu.

Every meal we ordered was amazing- a true dining experience to be wow’d by each round. Staff made us feel very attended to. Dina, their manager, checked in on us and made sure we were taken care of throughout our night. Lychee cocktail was great! Calamari salad and Galbi Hot Stone Bowl were delicious!!

The location of this restaurant is the center of Koreatown. Because there are activities today, we drive very hard. However, I am very happy that although it is my first time to come here, the decoration of this restaurant is really high-end. It is a pleasure to sit in the restaurant and eat! The biggest headache when going to a restaurant is to go to the bathroom. The bathroom in this restaurant is a separate bathroom for personal use. That is to say, you won't share a bathroom with others at the same time. You have your own independent space. I think their food is OK. You can give 4.5 stars here. It should be a good place for you to invite your friends to experience Korean food. I think their wine is also a very good coffee. It's a pleasure if you can sit here for a while, so I recommend you to come to this place.

Google
The meat was nicely medium-rare and charred, just almost entirely bland, and no dipping sauce to go with it. The shrimp was just ok, only the presentation was impressive. Overall we had a nice experience but food definitely wasn’t exceptional

Yelp
Gayeon offers an upscale Korean dining experience. The restaurant features a modern and elegant interior, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. The menu includes traditional Korean dishes such as Galbitang, Galbi, and Kimchijjigae, with the marinated beef short ribs (Galbi) being particularly traditional and delicious. Service at Gayeon is great and I appreciate the attentive and helpful staff. The restaurant offers both communal dining areas and private rooms, though the main dining space lacks a degree of privacy due to its open layout but nonetheless is fun. Overall, Gayeon provides a refined setting and authentic cuisine for those seeking a high-end Korean culinary experience. Although it's a bit of travel for me to get there its worth trip because Gayeon is my go to for Korean dining.

Yelp
The atmosphere is good, but I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for the food. 한글 번역은 영어 다음에 있습니다. Gayeon was a special restaurant I visited for the first time with my family, who had gathered since many years, after only going to regular Korean restaurants in New Jersey. Before the food arrived, I was satisfied and happy just being at this first-time in Gayeon, but as the side dishes came out, I thought, "This can't be?" Side Dishes: Compared to the regular "Y" restaurant one block down, the taste and limited variety were disappointing. Ordered Dishes: Yellowtail Ceviche: Yellowtail, tomato, jalapeño, yuzu sauce, cilantro oil I ordered the yellowtail ceviche, recalling the fresh, delicious ceviche I had at another restaurant before. However, as soon as I saw it, I was surprised by the small portion and after tasting it, I was even more disappointed for the price. There was no flavor of dish, except just a fishy taste of yellowtail with only to see the ingredients listed on the menu. Just in case, I checked on Google to see what Ceviche is, and it turns out the one I had at Gayeon wasn't actually Ceviche. Gayeon Set The quality and taste of the meat were very satisfying, but does it have to be at high-end restaurants' portions are often smaller for the price. The steamed egg was delicious and unique, something only found at restaurant. However, the kimchi jjigae and doenjang jjigae, both dishes that are hard to ruin in Korean cuisine, were salty and bland--how could they serve such poor versions of these dishes to customer? Cold Noodles I expected the cold noodles to be made with pre-made noodles, but the portion was too small. The mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) was somewhat acceptable, but the bibim-naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) tasted like noodles simply mixed with gochujang (red chili paste), which was worse than cheap neighborhood Bunsik Jip(snack shops). Despite the nice ambiance and satisfactory service from the staff, the food's taste and quality were far from what I expected. Given that I visited this restaurant with high expectations for fine dining, my disappointment was even greater. I left feeling that this would probably be my first and last visit. Korean food, which surprises and captivates people worldwide, is something many non-Koreans might not know about or notice for the difference of quality of food. I hope Gayeon will evolve into a place where people can experience refined dining with great taste and quality Korean food that matches the price they are paying.

Yelp
My family came here for an important occasion since this was supposed to be a more upscale korean restaurant in Fort Lee. We were expecting decent food but also good service. However, the service was very disappointing. They forgot my mom's dish so the rest of us were just sitting there waiting while our food got cold until it came out. When serving the food, instead of giving me the food from my side, they gave it to me from the other side by pushing it onto my utensils and moving everything in the way while doing so. Nothing was done professionally and I would not recommend this place for anyone who wants a pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
Food here was excellent. Pretty spacious, good decor, quality meat, great food all around. We went with the Premium Set and it was grilled to perfection. It comes with two types of beef, one that is leaner and fit for a king, the other aged, fatty, and oh so tender. The steamed egg was amazing and you can choose which jigae (stew) you want (kimchi or daengjang). Seafood pancake was great too, was a good portion. It was on the thicker side with generous pieces of seafood for a pancake.

Yelp
Came here for the Korean Barbecue Wagyu Special Set for 2 people. This is definitely enough food for us, two large selections of Wagyu plus banchan plus steamed egg and kimchi jjigae ~ first time here, will definitely come back! We've walked past this restaurant plenty of times but never noticed it until I scoured Yelp for a KBBQ place to satisfy my cravings! It sits across from the big iPic/Paris Baguette building and has complimentary garage parking. The space is large and airy, with a moody and cozy ambiance. The service staff is accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly - he assured us that the wagyu was especially delicious tonight LOL. Tbh, we would mostly only come back for the A5 Kagoshima wagyu ribeye. It was so tender and melt-in-your-mouth buttery. Australian Wagyu Strip, unfortunately, left much to be desired :( It was flavorful and tender enough, however not sure if the cut was too thick or seared for slightly too long, but was more chewy than we'd have liked. Still not bad! If we were to come back next time, we definitely just want to get a la carte A5 plus try some of the hot appetizers :)

Yelp
I came here for an event I was photographing in April 2024 and forgot to review. After the event I decided to check out the menu because everything looked really great. The host was so kind and top tier as far as service, offering me water and seating while I ordered even though I was ordering to go. She provided great descriptions of the dishes and recommended awesome sides. The restaurant itself looks amazing and is impeccably designed. The food was beautiful visually and delicious. I would love to return and dine in to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend.

Yelp
My family and I came here to celebrate our friend's baby first birthday. The party was seated at the side room by the entrance. The food was just okay. I feel like Korean cuisine is difficult to elevate to be modern and elegant. The service was excellent. Water was always full and clean plates were rotated. The alcoholic drink and mocktales were also really good. Typically, I would not dine here for a regular lunch or dinner. But, I'd would definitely have special events hosted here. Maybe not fantasy football drafts but that's doable too. Save yourself the aggravation and pay for parking at the garage.

Yelp
We were a party of 13 in one of their private rooms. The lunch specials were delicious and perfect for each individual. It was great because we each had our own side dishes. The restaurant is very clean and sleek, and the staff are friendly. Only small issue was that our food came out at different times so some people got their food really early and one person got theirs really late. Pro tip: They validate parking so park in the garage.

Yelp
The food is very mediocre. Seafood pancakes- 3/5 too thick Bimbimbap - 1/5 it's just not good or authentic something is missing Ribs - 2/5 something is not right

Yelp
Came here for an event in the private front room and it was very well done. We had family style appetizers with some kind of spicy fried chicken dish which was delicious, and grilled shrimp and steak served with personal bibimbap and various side dishes and sauces. Dessert was ice cream with some crunchy chocolate toppings. The room was spacious and simple but stylish.

Yelp
Went for restaurant week. The proportion seemed small but it was definitely about the right amount and the lil radish in flower shape was very cute. Overall good experience and wud return. The pear martini was not the vibe

Yelp
Fancy Korean BBQ restaurant restaurant with high quality meat and great service. This restaurant is quite modern and beautiful. The booth seat was comfortable and had plenty of room for 5 people. We had the wagyu ribeye, Unmarinated short rib, and duck along with some appetizers and kimchi soup. All the food was prepared well and with fresh ingredients. Wagyu was well marbled, as expected. We had 3 orders among 5 people and honestly I think this was too much. It's so rich and fatty that it was hard to eat so much of it. One criticism I have is that they turned up the fire to the max and that caused the meat to have a bit of gas taste. When they lowered the heat for the other meats I did not notice such taste. Short rib was good--but honestly nothing to write home about. You don't find duck on the menu at many places but this place has it. It was a really good change up and delicious. Service was attentive and good. The lady who cooked the meat for us was friendly without being annoying. I highly recommend this place for any special occasions.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I go here often... we usually get the same thing- galbi tang and spicy pork dolsot bibimbap. We like to get a soup dish so we usually get these two things and both are good! Galbi tang- lots of meat and it's huge! Love the broth and how clean it taste Dolsot bibimbap- hot stone bibimbap here is so good! We always get the spicy pork. There was one time were it didn't seem like we got a lot of meat but usually ratios good and love how hot it is Bossam- good :) but I like Bossam house better with all the other stuff they give you. It's good but not something id rave about Galbi jjim- good but again nothing to rave about. It's not as greasy which I like Calamari salad- good but nothing I crave... Madeline- I've been trying to get this and finally tried it. Super cute and tiny. Comes out fresh and hot. Not sure if they actually made it and it comes right out of the oven but loved that it was hot! One time I tried getting it it was sold out and other times I forget to ask... wouldn't get it again unless I'm craving lemon madeline Myun-sang from the lunch special: (nengmyun and galbi) Bibim nengmyun- I can't eat Korean cold noodles cus it's too chewy for me and I got sick once as a kid and after that anytime I try I get sick.. so it's not something I eat but my boyfriend got it and he said it was okay and was more Americanized. It was too sweet for him. I tried the sauce and it was def on the sweeter side.. almost like a fried chicken marinade. Galbi- they don't ask how you like the meat cooked but it came out medium rare and some medium... it was soft and tender. Really good! Service is always great and I see people hosting diff events here. I would def take my family here. Food isn't special but the service and vibe make it worth it. Parking: there's a garage you can park for free at for 3 hours! Exit out from the IPIC elevator and the restaurant will be on your left I think and IPIC will be right across the street :) There's also coffee shops across the street and a new mini food court opening up soon :)

Yelp
Pricey but worth the money IMO. Although the heftier prices might be why this place isn't packed to the gills, I still saw a good number of people here for dinner on a Saturday night. I tried several different items, but generally speaking I'd say their meat BBQ, especially the ribeye, was particularly well done and tasted pretty awesome. The other item of note I really had to call out was the spicy cod fish stew, which had a killer good soup base and plenty of cod to go around. I really enjoyed both items and those were the ones that really stuck out. The service was good and the chocolate dessert I had was also above average. Basically this place is like a Manhattan upscale kinda joint with price tags that match it. Personally there are other places nearby that offer just as good food that don't necessary hit these price ceilings so I really can't say this is is the definitive spot to go to in terms of value vs taste ratio per se. However, what I can say is if you're looking for a comfortable upscale option, this isn't a bad one at all.

Yelp
Food was delicious and served in batches. Service was smooth and fast. Place was nicely lit and spacious. Option to grill at the table or in the kitchen was available.

Yelp
I havs dined here probably more than 100 times and I can confidently say that this is the best korean restaurant in the state of NJ. Amazing ambiance and def a great plave to bring your date. Dinner time bbq now they have wagyu so we will def be coming back. Today i will review about lunch menus. They have awesome array of cool lunch sets. We ordered galbi and bean stew set as well as galbi and mulnengnyun set. We also ordered fried chicken for an appetizer. Amazing flavor and all the banchana were sooo good with galbi and the soup. Glabi marinate was perfect not too sweet and grilled perfectly. Galbi was super tender and portion was perfect too. Nengmyun (cold noodle) had a wonderful broth and super refreshing too. Their service is impeccable. Very attentive. Overall I highly highly recommend and will def come back next week to try their wagyu bbq.

Yelp
(3/12/2022) A lunch gathering for 10 people in the private room of Gayeon, Fort Lee on a freezing snowy day in March, 2022. A great ambience, high ceiling, spacious, & very socially distant tables. The price is probably for all the above ambience, because the food portion was tiny for the price we were charged. Even it has become a rule of thumb that all price has increased, at least, a bit of quality decency to live up to its price would have been appreciated. Mushroom tangsoo ($18) - People always order this as an appetizer, but never understood why we pay $18 for ten small pieces of mushroom. Calamari Salad($18) - A bit of green with well seasoned calamari, 7 small pieces of calamari. Bossam ($27) - Could order a full dish of pork for this price. The pork was meaty. Black cod ($30 for lunch) - I always order this since the fish is tasty, soft, and just melts in your mouth. Just just just wish it would be at least the size of my palm !!!!! Amid the pandemic, this place was favored due to the ambience. But, honestly, this place is overpriced.

Yelp
Excellent food and service, very attentive and friendly, our server was helpful in choosing food and drink options Manager came to the table and asked if we were satisfied with everything and if there was anything that could use attention, recommended!

Yelp
Dropped by on a Sunday lunch. My wife and I were curious of this place; however we didn't get to try this place as it was surrounded by other options. Glad we did stop by as we were very happy with our meal. The decor and ambience is modern and clean with friendly, professional staffs. Parking might be a challenge, but there are plenty of options around the block. We tried the yook hwe, stuffed zucchini, mackerel, and galbi stew. Food's seasoning isn't overpowering, yet subtle and well prepped. For the two of us, 2 apps and 2 meals were just right. (We usually can't finish if we order this much). Would recommend to host parties or gatherings. Will be coming back with my parents when they visit.

Lena L.

Yelp
10/10 customer service and food. 100 % recommended and will come back here again. It was on the higher side when it comes to pricing but I didn't get disappointed when i tasted the food. The staff is very friendly and easy to talk to.

Yelp
Do not book a party/room here. We had our son's first birthday here and ordered their set menu for our guests. Half the appetizers came out and then the other half came out 30 minutes later. They didn't even realize that we didn't get the full amount of the appetizers and only realized when we questioned why there was such little food. Then half the bbq came out and then the other half came out 20 minutes later. Again, they didn't realize that only half the bbq made it to the table until we questioned it. The manager didn't seem to care about our complaints and they brushed us off. Waiters/waitresses never came to check in on us for water until someone had to go downstairs and ask for pitchers of waters to be sent. Keep in mind, they weren't busy in the normal dining area. They had maybe 5 tables on and off in the dining area. They then charged us full price for kids who were supposed to be billed at half price or free. I had to request a partial refund for those overcharges.

Yelp
Fort Lee has some interesting Revolutionary War sites that are certainly worth visiting and a Koreatown that was totally unexpected.. Gayeon is one of the many Korean restaurants in Fort Lee and one of the very best we've experienced in quite some time. The central dining dining area is large with two adjacent smaller rooms for large or small private parties. As the luncheon crowd started to file in, it appeared that this is where Korean business people choose to entertain their clients and or come to dine on their own. Either way, we were the only non Asian folks in the restaurant, always a good sign. Our Galbi Mandoo appetizer was expertly fried, bursting with flavor and delicious. My spicy beef noodle soup and banchan hit all the flavor, spice and noodle notes, a hearty bowl on a cold windy day. My wife's Beef Bibimbap with gochujang and banchon was more than a big hit and quite satisfying. Just a brief word about the Terra Korean beer I ordered, it is made in the style of a Czech Pilsner and to my surprise is brewed by Hite, another of my favorite Korean beers. Gayeon was an absolutely delightful dining adventure from service, to food, drink and hospitality this restaurant and staff do things right!!!

Yelp
BEST PLACE TO EAT IF YOU WANT A MEATY DISH! 5/5 My Grandma was the one who lured us here to get a quiet break from shopping. We came around 1:30PM for a late lunch and got seated immediately from a very pleasant hostess. My grandma (who's very picky about her restaurants), said she loved this place because the food was good with a quiet environment. I decided to order the Galbetang (my favorite) and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of MEAT that was provided. I mean, I was astonished. This was the most meat I've ever seen in a Galbetang dish! The broth was to die for (not too salty) and the banchans were delish On top of that, my grandma's meat was tender and juicy filled with enough flavor that surprised you with each bite. I was pleasantly full and happy at the end of my meal and would love to visit again!

Yelp
Probably the most modern and romantic atmospheres for a korean restaurant that I have ever been to. Everything here feels very clean and the food is just spectacular. Even the bathrooms are beautiful with great privacy. However, we spent over $300 for four people. If you are coming here, you can expect great food (even the tea is good) and a great experience, but I would only come on a special occasion because of the cost. For the family meal, the meat quality was excellent. It is from gas not charcoals so if you like charcoal taste better, this may not satisfy that aspect. The side onion was nice with the meat and the seasoned meat was not too sweet like other restaurants. I particularly appreciated the tengang soup because it had good quality meat in it. The kimchi soup was just aberage. Afterwards, we were a little bit hungry and shared two nhyengmyuns. The bibim is not too sweet or spicy, but I wish it had more freshness from pear. The mool was not as good as other places, but it definitely felt cleaner because we couldn't taste msg. Overall, this restaurant is beautiful and is in a great location. If you're looking for an upscale korean restaurant, this place may be for you! There is a bar across this restaurant so save your $20 for one cocktail and just go there. It's pretty good and is next to ipic the movie theater!

Yelp
Took my mom here for Mother's Day lunch. Still love this place. I'm not sure I understand the 3.5 star rating. It's funny how Gayeon's prices used to be about 20% higher than competitors, but now they are in line as the competitors all jacked up their prices. This place is not only a very pleasant and civilized way to enjoy Korean BBQ (especially on a date) where you want to actually have a conversation and sit comfortably while you sip your beverage of choice, maybe take a pause grilling so you can eat everything hot, etc., it's now a great value too. I'm coming back here more often. Folks don't seem to appreciate this place like I do.

Yelp
More like a solid 3.5/5! I absolutely love the atmosphere here. It feels super classy and the interior was gorgeous but you're allowed to dress casually! The waiter did not see us waiting until like 5 minutes later then we got seated promptly. They were very nice and made sure we got our order in. We ordered: Yuk hwe / beef tartare ($24) Marinated galbi ($39) Pork belly ($29) Bibim Naengmyun ($16) Lychee princess ($8) Yuzu fresh ($8) The drinks were really pretty and tasted nice. I felt the lychee princess was a little bit too sweet and tasted like those Asian supermarket lychee boxed drinks so wasn't really worth the $8. The beef tartare and galbi were extremely delicious but I do feel like it's a bit overpriced compared to other Korean bbq around the neighborhood so I guess you're really paying for the classy vibes/atmosphere. The pork belly was sadly very underwhelming. The server cooking it burnt it pretty badly and it turned out really dry and the flavor was lost. They also kind of forgot we ordered the bibim naengmyun so that came out last. It tasted eh, okay but again, for $16, I think you can definitely find better elsewhere! I know I for sure definitely had better for like $10-14. Overall, it was still a pretty solid dinner but for the prices, I expected a lot more!

Yelp
The food is good but pricey. My teenage son and I had the marinated bbq beef and it came with a variety of tasty side dishes. Next time we will try one of their bbq sets that come with assorted meat but that is more expensive like $69 to $100 per person so we will wait to have that for special occasion only.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and had a couple of dishes. As usual, the service and food was excellent. The black cod Bansang was really good but the portion was smaller than i expected based on price. Really fresh fish and cooked to perfection. I love their presentation of food but Disappointed with portion. On the other hand, bibimbap was really good. Overall, gobdol bibimbip is 5/5. Definitely have it with bulgogi as protein of choice. Skip cod bansang. I will try full size and review it again. For now, still staying on my restaurant rotation.

Yelp
been here a few times. all have been good experiences. i will say on the last dinner, the sashimi was still a bit frozen. i informed the wait staff and they let the kitchen know.... but nothing was done about the frozen ones in front of me. basically i had fish popsicles... nothing like the crunch crunch of an icy piece of sashimi.

Yelp
Overpriced with one of the worst service I've seen despite the classy and upscale image this restaurant wants to give off. Portion sizes were egregious for the two sets, so it's best to not come here hungry if you're expecting to have a fulfilling meal. (Also don't expect any of the waitstaff to inform you of how much you should order, as they were very unhelpful in communicating anything). Sequence of food was also delivered in such a strange manner. Two sets of stews that come with two sets (both the kimchi jjigae and doenjang jjigae) came well after the meal was practically over, and after 3 separate times we've reminded the waitstaff to bring them to us. After we finished the two stews, two ADDITIONAL stews were brought, again after the meal was practically over AND the 'desert' stew (as I called them) were finished after the original meal was consumed. This, by the way, came with no explanation and no apology for the lateness - just plopped the 20-minutes-late stews onto our table. This experience is confined to the two dining sets we ordered, nothing regarding some of the other a la carte options - so review for those (if I decide to give it another chance) are pending

Yelp
I came here with my brother and cousin to try out the lunch menu for Restaurant Week. Their covid precautions were tops among all the places I've eaten at. They wore masks, enforced social distancing, took our temperatures, and even left a bottle of hand sanitizer for us at our table. So big props to them for that. The service was excellent and several individuals regularly checked in with us to make sure everything was fine. The food was delicious and for $25, it was a great deal. We enjoyed the experience here and would definitely recommend it. There is also 3 hour free parking in the nearby parking lot.

Yelp
This place looks fancy and elegant, and I assumed it is pricy. But then, I saw they have lunch menu at more affordable prices. So, we decided to try them out one weekend. We started off with Lychee-Beach Cocktail and J-Tomboy Cocktail. They were nice and strong, good flavor, well made. They had a nice lunch menu, But the funny thing was, when we put in our order, we were told they didn't have the items we wanted to order. The server told us that they no longer offer those items, but they haven't updated their menu yet... Seriously? We had to quickly look for something else to order, and I chose Seoul Bulgogi + Today's Soup. It was very different from what I imagined. It didn't have as much flavor as I wanted it to be, but a nice, filling dish. My hubby chose Galbi + Dwenjang Jjigae. I must say, I was jealous of this dish. I love having marinated beef or pork, wrapped in lettuce with some seasoning. It was really good, packed with flavor, and delicious! We also got some desserts; Matcha Brownie and Snickers Bar. Brownie was very small and kind of dry. Snickers Bar is like a deconstructed Snickers Bar, and seems to be one of the most popular dessert items. It was indeed interesting, and a fun dessert to eat. The service was ok, polite and nice, but not as friendly. Towards the end, a manager (?) came around to each table to greet everyone. It is always good to know our business is appreciated. The lunch items were good, but still a bit on the pricey side.

Yelp
Upscale Korean restaurant at Fort Lee, NJ Our family had Christmas luncheon with reservation. The restaurant was pretty full and we were seated right away. There weren't enough servers working so the service was very slow. Our appetizers did not come out for 40 minutes. Servers or managers never even came by once to check on us. Yuk-hwe, raw rib eye tartare was very fresh, smooth and tasty. But jelly fish naengchae was very sour and mushroom tangsoo was so so. The appetizer portion was very small and too pricey. I don't recommend ordering them. Stick to main entree. As an entree, we enjoyed yuk-hwe bibimbob and wang galbi tang and daegu jiri. Nakji bokkeum was too spicy and black cod jorim was toi salty with very small piece of cod. The mini Madeline as a dessert was a delight with coffee and cappuccino. There is a public parking which is free for three hours when you dine at Gayeon. We had Christmas set course meal last year and they served high quality meat but the service was very slow.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place!! The portions are great and I especially love the lunch trays that come with a good amount of banchan (side dishes). The staff was always wearing masks and provided sanitizer per table. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Sadly their service is now non existent and food is mediocre at the best. Shame that they can't bring them up to the par with beautiful place and location.

Yelp
I would give zero star to this restaurant if I could. Horrible experience dining in this restaurant!!! Long story short. If you're dining in Gayeon; make sure you read your bill carefully before you pay; mistakes being made and embarrass moment you may end up with like myself. If the restaurant is offering you an adjustment (credit) to the wrongly bill which you had already paid for it; make sure to take your refund back straight to your credit card instead of taking store credit. Chances are you may walk out with zero balance in that store credit the restaurant gave you like I did and find yourself embarrassed next time during the visit in trying to use the store credit and finding the store credit had an ZERO BALANCE! No apology from management for mistakes made and I truly don't think this is type of service expected from an upscale restaurant. It's okay for a restaurant to be pricey as long as the management back up with a superior customer service which I've found nonexistent in this incident after the management had found out they had made a mistake with store credit and still approached with a horrible service to remedy the mistake they had made. Perhaps I am just out of luck and I don't think this will happen to everyone but just sharing my experience so reader can be aware and avoid the embarrassment that should have not happened in the first place!

Yelp
Looking at the interior, you can tell the owner put a lot of thought when building this place. The interior exudes a more classy vibe with very high ceilings, but is still able to allow for casual dining as well. It's also great that while they do serve barbeque, there is no distinct meat smell. In fact, I think the smoke is sucked downward because I couldn't see any smoke drifting up from tables. I think it's a great place to bring your parents or on a date with friends! Service is excellent from the server to the bus boy to the manager. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Gayeon was such a pleasant surprise! Amazing Korean bbq and cocktails ! Great ambiance and service ! Loved that even though it's a large restaurant, you still feel like you are having an intimate meal. On our list of favorites for sure.

Yelp
Went for Daily Lunch Special Food - 4/5. The best banchan was their kimchi. It had the perfect amount of ripeness that gave a great crunch and a nice balance of sour and spicy. Unfortunately, their other banchans were lackluster. Mapo tofu only had spicy tones to it, fish cakes and eggplants were bland and the squid was too thin, giving it a hard chew. Galbi was excellent! Tender with just the right amount of sweetness and char for a perfect Korean BBQ dish. Naengmyeon was kind of average. The noodles had decent chew but I expected more from the broth as it had a very little depth to its beefiness. Service - 4/5. Quick and professional. The table settings are great and I love the glass used for the tea. Value - 4/5. When paying $20+ for lunch I have very high expectations of the food quality and Gayeon was very mix and match. The foods I enjoyed were great but the others were disappointing at their price point. Serving size was average and they don't offer anything after the meal like most of the competitors so some value points are lost. Parking - Parking Garage (Free/Metered), Street (Metered)

Yelp
I had okay experience here. Making a reservation on weekend was pretty easy and smooth (just called on the day of). The entrance is pretty small and the sign is also relatively small compared to surrounding restaurants sand shops, but it is pretty big inside. Interior is classy, clean and fancy, and I think this is a good place for meeting up for formal dinner/events more so than casual. We ordered calamari salad, galbi soup, and galbi dolsot (?)- I forget the exact names for the dishes. It tasted pretty good, but the overall portions were smaller than other places, and they didn't have many side dishes. Price is slightly higher than other places in the area, and the cuisine are more korean fusion style than the authentic korean style dishes. Service was average. I would go here again if I have occasions; I liked the elegant ambiance and quiet atmosphere.

Yelp
This is an upscale Korean restaurant, and a wonderful array of main dishes and desserts in their most delicate quality offers diners unique experience jn Korean cuisine. The refined ambience and stylish decor is perfect fit for corporate events as well. I came with my family and even my 7-year son enjoyed every dish and Soo Jeong Gwa (dessert) Saturday lunch menu of Kalbi and Naengmyun (cold noodle soup) lets you savor a nice balance of succulent meat marinated in Korean sauce and Koreans's favorite winter food (but enjoyed more in the summer) at a reasonable price point. A superb balance of authentic Korean food and sophisticated service. Bravo!!

Yelp
We decided to have a family night and my husband decided on this place because we wanted to watch That saxophone guy so it worked out nicely. Now being our first time eating here I definitely recommend maybe thinking over the menu. We all decided to go with the $50 gayeon set option which I kind of regretted because there were so many good looking dishes other table were eating . Also if you decide this option keep in mind it may not be as much food as you may expect but I believe you are paying quality vs quantity. The prime ribeye was pure quality meat and melted like butter in your mouth. So good !! The calbi was delicious as well the bulgogi was a tad dry but good as well. You also get two hot pot soups along with it and of their side dishes to accompany the meat . The ambiance was very nice and the music was a nice touch for the night. I'm not sure if that's a weekend thing but I definitely recommend they keep it up if it's not. Staff was super friendly and we really enjoyed our night here. So if you are looking for a date night I definitely recommend this place. There was also a lot of families here so don't shy away if you want to bring the kiddies .

Yelp
Recommended by a co worker who has very fine taste when it comes to food...this place definitely didn't disappoint. This was sort of like an upscale Korean BBQ place where you don't even smell like Korean BBQ coming out. Located across the street from the ipic theater in Fort Lee, this place is very suited for business people around the area. Very ideal location for any kind of work get together or a very fancy date, which was what my husband and I did. Made reservations for a Friday evening, we parked right out front of the restaurant. There is street parking if you're lucky, but remember to feed that meter. There is also that huge parking lot across the street you can utilize. Anyway, the ambience really is FANCY. I felt a little TOO underdressed, even when I thought I was dressed fairly well.. The service here is insanely professional. The food here is fairly ethnic and the place is immaculate. There is the open concept kitchen to the left side of the restaurant when you first walk in and the staff is so professional I have nothing bad to say about them. The food was ON POINT. Since I was here two months ago, it's hard to describe the deliciousness that I experienced, but trust me, you will not be disappointed. Again the food is more ethnic so if you're a picky eater, I wouldn't really recommend this place to you. I gave it a four star only because it's a bit overpriced and parking isn't always the best in that location. So unless you're ok with dropping about $200 for a date night, I suggest you look somewhere else. I would probably come back...when I'm feeling like I can make it rain with my paycheck. But I'm glad I experienced it and would highly recommend spending your special occasion here!

Yelp
Everything was delicious. For appetizers I recommend the Japchae (stir fry glass noodles - we did them with beef) and the calamari salad. For entree we did the black cod, and then on the grill we had Bulgogi (marinated kalbi) {INSANELY GOOD} and Prime Rib. All of it was excellent. Black cod was out of this world. The sides they bring out were very tasty. My favorites were the pickled radish and the marinated scallion salad. The kimchi was good too. The atmosphere is super nice. I really liked this place. I will come back. Also.. do not skip dessert ;)

Yelp
We came here for a doljanchi lunch celebration. The space is really cute for celebrations in the private room by the front. I'm also impressed with the cleanliness of their restrooms which were spacious. Food was coursed and served family style, usually that means not enough food but the dishes were good sized and meant for 3-4 adults to share. All the dishes were very well made and it was clear they care about their quality. The servers were attentive as well when it came to serving drinks/refilling water which is much appreciated at a celebration/event. If I didn't live so far away I would come here to have a meal at their restaurant!

Yelp
Sorry, but fancy doesn't necessarily equate w good food. I'm a very big fan of Korean food with having a Korean wife and family, but from the start, everything was just off here. We get there with a 7PM reservation. Place is completely empty but somewhat unfriendly hostess says we have to wait for our table to ready. We wait close to half an hour. We then sit and our waiter says that half the table can't bbq at the table because the bbq was broken and that they will bring us the cooked meats. For me, this completely eradicates why I come for BBQ. Then we tell the waitress that my son has a serious nut allergy. First plate they bring out is steak tartare and guess why??....has pine nuts all over it. They come back w a new plate and I ask is it a fresh order or same meat w someone simply picking off the nuts? They couldn't give me a straight answer. Then the meats come and quality was probably B or C grade compared to So Good or Dong Bang. And waitress had this habit of cooking meats and then tossing it on our plates vs eating it off the grill, which again defeated the whole idea of BBQ. One thing I found VERY lacking was any real management in place. Looked like the place is run by a bunch of kids, which explains why they seem to be a bit off in both service and quality. Sorry, but too many other superb options out there. They get credit for the look and feel of the place, but they need to get some experience managers and wait staff in there.

Yelp
Just a restaurant who wants to be classy to charge higher prices. Not great about the food. Good for business lunches i guess if you have a meeting but not so great for other occasions.
