On the Grid : Common

"Located up on the second level, Common is a great, urban clothing boutique. While you certainly won't be able to buy anything with your spare pocket change, it has some great clothing pieces and accessories if you're looking to treat yourself to something new and edgy. Grab a coffee while you browse at Morning Owl's pop up cafe located right in the store (look for the orange fridge)." - Shopify

I came here with a large group of 14 and service was great for our table. We came when wine was half off so that was great and it’s rare to see orange wine on the menu so we were very happy about that. The burgers and fries and milkshakes are super good though I do think their main burgers are a bit overpriced but I guess that’s what you get for gourmet burgers. Good experience overall, and the ambiance is nice in the evenings. The bar is super cute and there are two arcade games down the hallway towards the bathroom, which is kind of random. If you’ve heard of this place, definitely worth checking out, but I don’t know that I would make it my regular burger spot just because there’s so many places to try in the city still!

I’m honestly not sure why there’s so much criticism of this place—Gburger – Gitanes Burger really impressed me! I tried their classic mini burger and the spicy chicken burger, and both were exceptional—definitely among my top 10 burgers in Ottawa. The spicy chicken burger was especially satisfying because it actually brought the heat, something many places skimp on. One unique aspect of Gitanes is that their menu has three different prices for lunch, dinner, and late-night, which makes it a great spot for a late-night bite (it’s open as late as 2 a.m.!). In a city like Ottawa, places like this are rare and deserve to be treasured. Their Gitanes burger, with its winter-friendly gravy, looked like a real treat for a cold evening—we didn’t try it this time, but it’s on my list for next time. The real star of the show, though—and the reason I’m writing this review—was the Banana Split Sundae. It was a thing of beauty: caramelized bananas, rich chocolate sauce, peanuts, and whipped cream, all topped with a cherry. Each bite melted together perfectly and took me right back to the classic banana splits of childhood—only better. Truly, the best banana split I’ve ever had. I’ll be back to try more from Gburger, but that banana split alone makes this place worthy of 5 stars.

Almost 4 ⭐ We like to drop by here every once and a while to have the Gitanes Burger. The pricing is fair, especially compared to their main restaurant where it's priced at $30 (you do get fries with that price though). It's a very unique and tasty burger! Fork and knife are necessary with the sauce. I don't usually go for their other burgers but they hit the spot but are nothing too special to write home about. A bonus that the buns are house made and the beef is local ⭐ Like other reviews say, I do find that the fried/burger food items are little heavy handed on the salt. It's not to the point of it being inedible but something to keep in mind as it seems to be consistent when we go. Their curly fries and fries are also OK, I did like their onion rings when they had a special but we are looking at $8 for a handful of onion rings as well. I love the unicorn drink, and appreciate the half price / Wine Wednesdays. There's a small but decent selection, I'm a little sad they took off the wine notes off the menu, it was a feature we really liked since it kept us off our phones and saved us the searches. Beer is by the cans and not taps. Service is friendly! This place gets a little bit loud on busier nights.

visited Gburger during Sunday happy hour and I had the spicy (vegetarian) chicken sandwich, my boyfriend had the double cheeseburger and we split a vegetarian poutine. while all the food was good, I was hoping this would be more of a gourmet burger spot but it felt like *slightly* elevated fast food for double the price. my boyfriend said he wished he just got McDonalds lol. however, this spot has really great vegetarian and vegan options! service and vibes were also good, I am just not sure the price point is worth it for me.

Ordered from Gburger for the first time for delivery. Went with a double cheeseburger and onion rings. At first I wasn't sure if the portions were a bit small or not. They were perfectly portioned. There were more onion rings in the cup than I thought. The seasoning on them was quite tasty, the dip that with them is excellent. The burger was outstanding. Was over seasoned and there was lots mustard, ketchup and onions. The cheese was melted just enough. Overall, delicious meal and I will venture to the restaurant one day soon to check it out.

Portion was rather small in general. The food was also overly season with salt. Especially the “spicy curly fries” which had zero spice just overly salted and the burger was salty especially in the center area. Aside from that, the milkshake is good - vanilla flavored but more so on maple/caramel. The mac n cheese was okay and small portion for the price. They have happy hour menu which reduced price on some items. Also, lunch and dinner menu which may have different options depending on time.

Great service, good food. They were understaffed with one person serving and hosting, but they were kind and delightful. The server gave us complimentary drinks and offered us the Happy Hour option, because of the labour shortage (mind you we only waited 10mins). The Burgers were good but the spicy chicken burger was not a soft spicy but a direct hot, pepper sauce spicy. It would have been better of the burger could have been a tolerable and enjoyable level of spice. I would come again to try their other options on the menu.

Came here for their happy hour burgers and they did not disappoint. 10/10 would recommend the spicy chicken burger and spicy fries. Still dreaming about it :)
