Stayed in the Deluxe Twin which had good a/c, was spacious, modern and immaculately clean, as was the shared toilets and wash rooms. Kitchen had plenty equipment and everything needed for our stay. Location was ideal, quiet and right next to Cairns Central Shopping Centre and 15minute walk to the Esplanade Lagoon. There was loads of information about tours and things to do in the hostel and all could be organised through the host. Great stay all round!

Clean and family friendly accommodation. Opposite the train station and shopping centre. Very convenient, located with swimming pool. Peter is a friendly chap, he makes sure that the place is always spotless and clean. Huge TV and relaxing place. - no noisy party house, so you will sleep really good. Good beds and rooms. Good value. We had a great time and can recommend to anyone that wants to relax after a day on the reef.

Stayed for 3 nights in April and was happy with my stay. My room was really clean and spacious and had a high ceiling and wooden floor-that and a good ac and a fan made for probably the best air and thus best sleep I had in cairns. The bathroom was shared but also very nice and clean compared to other hostels. So was the kitchen. Pool was clean and the fridge in my room was a plus.

I recently stayed at Geckos, Cairns. I have stayed here many times in the past.I recommend the close proximinity to Railway Station, Cairns CBD & Cairns City Central Shopping Centre & bus stops &places of interest. The host, Peter, is extremely helpful. He has clean, comfortable, inexpensive accommodation available. The kitchen is exceptionally clean, well organised, spacious & equipped with all necesssary items. A huge TV is set up on the wall. All rooms are spotless, with ideal super clean matresseses and bed linen. All rooms have substantial lighting being well ventilated and many with air conditioners. The laundry is large with clean washing & ironing amenities, Bathrooms are scrupulously cleaned daily. I will always stay at Geckos when visiting beautiful Cairns & far North Queensland. Peter is adept at bookings for tourists tours & making suggestions. I highly recommend this inexpensive comfortable accommodation and knowling that Peter will .do the best to make my stay enjoyable . I appreciate all rules set out to make this type of accommodation safe and protected for me as I am a woman who travels alone. Geckos is my preferred place to stay whenever I am in Cairns - and I have stayed there about 4 times now over many years. I intend to visit again next year. Thank YOU, Peter for ALL you do!!

Stayed here for a couple of nights on our way to our Great Barrier Reef trip. We got a great spot in the parking area and had full use of the facilities while staying in our campervan. The kitchen area was spacious for making food even when busy and the showers were fantastic. We paid a fair price for the our stay and had a comfortable stay. The manager Peter was welcoming and friendly and helped us out with any queries we had. Really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to others. (Booking under Nick)

Peter was a fab host who helped me out when a delayed flight meant changing my dates at the last minute! Hostel itself is in a good location, walking distance to centre and reef terminals. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was also clean with good shower facilities! Would highly recommend and thanks again for being so accommodating with the change of schedule! Great customer service!

I stayed at Geckos backpackers for three nights this month. The place looks reallly nice, welcoming and cozy. -The manager is very helpful & will recommend the best tours. -The location is great, only a few steps from the shopping centre & cairns central. -It's super clean (nice & tidy toilets and kitchen) Overall, an amazing place to stay in Cairns. Highly recommend it!

Geckos hostel was perfect for our one night stop. The bedroom was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen and bath rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We will definitely be returning if we ever find ourselves in cairns again.
