"This tiny hideaway overlooking the sea near Port Antonio originally served as a live-in recording studio for performers such as No Doubt, Alicia Keys, and Amy Winehouse. Although recording sessions still go on, Geejam is now a seven-room hotel, its guests often honeymooning couples acting out fantasies having nothing to do with rock and roll. Geejam’s cabins, especially, are very private, and guests sometimes spend days taking meals on their veranda and splashing in their outdoor Jacuzzi without being seen by anyone but the staff, who appear only when called. Of course, who wants to stay hidden forever when the Bushbar restaurant promises convivial chitchat, an occasional game of pool, and even live music? Not to mention that the hotel beach, in a cove across a road at the bottom of the property, promises four-poster sunbeds and, yes, Wi-Fi."

Geejam, Port Antonio, Jamaica - Explore & Book

"Located on the North East corner of Jamaica (the quiet end of the island), Geejam is so secluded you’ll probably drive straight past. Hidden in six acres of hillside forest, the Jack-and-the-Beanstalk vines reaching skywards will surround you, but through the dense greenery you just about get a glimpse of the sea. With only a handful of rooms and cabins deposited across the property, plus a secluded 3-bedroom villa, you really can’t feel cramped here even when it’s full. The sound of reggae may filter through your day, but you can’t be sure if it’s nearby local musicians or other guests in Geejam's famous recording studio (Rihanna, Drake and Amy Winehouse have all recorded here). All sleekly tropical accommodations have ocean views from their outdoor verandas - some have Jacuzzis, others feature a hammock to complete the delightful lounging experience. There’s not much to do here other than practise your cool skills in the Bushbar - or to be a little bemused by the in-room technology: home theatre, digital surround sound, multiple dimmers, hidden speakers, 10,000 songs, 170 movies. As one guest said, it's "Robinson Crusoe goes to the Apple store". And whilst the hotel has a private beach at Macks Bay, Portland also offers several unspoilt areas for you to explore…if you can be bothered to break the spell. Highs Extremely pampered privacy, incredibly exclusive, faultless service With the highest rainfall on the island (short bursts only 5-7am) you really get a fix of lush green foliage High-quality amenities (500 thread-count sheets, uber-luxurious bathrooms) and state-of-the-art technology in all rooms Even when full it feels empty, and if you take on all the rooms you can have the run of the place and your own private hotel A pretty, secluded cove and beach that extends your luxury lounging right to the water's edge Lows The 3 cabins are circular and on the small side (rectangular furniture always looks a little awkward against curved walls) but it’s a case of small bedrooms, big views There are lots of stairs around the hotel, including down to the private beach, but that's the pay off for the views The property straddles the coast road, you need to cross it to get to the beach, and there can be intermittent traffic noise, but it’s hardly a rush hour, and you don’t notice if the music is on" - Cat Martin

Geejam (Port Antonio, Jamaica) 3 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Geejam has always made the most of its music-business connections, for good reason — without reggae, Jamaica just wouldn’t be the same, and the hotel might never have existed at all. This place was actually a recording studio first, where the likes of Gorillaz and Björk went away to focus on their music. It seems the beachside surroundings and the sunny contemporary interiors were a great improvement over the usual dank and darkened studio control room, and the addition of some stylish on-site lodgings turned out to be a move that appealed equally to the non-musician general public." - Tablet Hotels

I absolutely loved my stay at geejam. From the arrival to your nice clean room. It was amazing. Reception was on point, one call or text to guest services and they are right at your door. The staff was kind, polite and very attentive. The food was superb and the alcohol was to my liking. I give them a 10/10 will definitely be back. Also the tour to the studio was amazing and learned a lot and saw where the big stars did their thing!

This was my second time staying at Geejam. I returned because my first stay was memorable and exceptional.||I stayed in a Rumba room with an expansive view of the Caribbean Sea, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. The room was beautiful and spacious with a large shower and lux soaker tub. The room had a large balcony where I admired the vibrant colours of the sky at sunset and enjoyed the hummingbirds zipping by. ||The staff were kind, attentive and friendly, greeting them was a highlight, everyday. ||The food was delicious with diverse options to choose from, and they catered to my dietary restrictions which I appreciated. The fried dumplings and Blue Mountain coffee are a must.||There are an abundance of beaches near by, including the Geejam beach where I spent some time, it was peaceful and relaxing. ||The team helped to coordinate spa services for me as well as excursions and transportation which provided me with an opportunity to experience some of Jamaica’s most beautiful locations. ||On this trip, I chose to do the Rio Grande rafting and during the previous visit I went to Frenchman’s Cove, Boston beach and I did a hike to Nanny Falls. I also visited Reach falls, located in a Montane Forest in the John Crow Mountain range, to hike, swim in the natural pools and to learn about the biodiversity of the area. All of these excursions were within a reasonable distance. Travelling through many small villages and cities on the way, I took in the scenery, peace and periodic resonance of booming bass. ||One of the highlights of my stay was participating in a behind the scenes tour of the studio, with other guests, facilitated by Steve. Steve was great and he shared about their creative process, history and story. ||My wish was for a quiet getaway to relax and enjoy Jamaica- Geejam did not disappoint.||Happy travels.

I’ve always wanted to visit Geejam. Had the amazing opportunity of doing so for my Birthday dinner in May and the experience far exceeded my expectation. While dining, we were greeted and invited for a tour of the studio by Steve and heard some amazing stories of Geejam and how it came to be. Steve is a host - he was so warm and friendly. The food was amazing and staff were friendly and professional. The property is truly lovely, but during the day it really came to life. We asked for a tour and we were invited back the following day. Beautiful property with breathtaking views! Oh and the private beach access - my birthday was perfect! We even went to the live band session that happens every Friday night - amazing! Definitely a gem in my favourite parish - sweet sweet Portland❤️|I look forward to my next visit😊

My recent business trip to Geejam Hotel and Villas in Port Antonio, Jamaica, was nothing short of amazing. I had the pleasure of staying in the Sanwood Villa, which was absolutely beautiful—peaceful, stylish, and surrounded by lush tropical scenery. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was outstanding. Every employee we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely committed to making our stay enjoyable. It truly felt like a home away from home. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, offering a wonderful blend of local and international flavors. And the scenery—breathtaking. Whether relaxing by the villa or exploring the surrounding property, the natural beauty of Geejam made every moment special. This experience exceeded expectations in every way. I highly recommend Geejam Hotel and Villas to anyone looking for a luxurious and serene escape—whether for business or leisure.

I had a magical time at Geejam. Everyone was so nice especially Kamille who deserves a raise. Her smile and patience are impeccable. It was nice to have owner on site. The rumba rooms are true luxury and feel so brand new. The little beach is really pretty too and having easy access to book excursions and transportation was a huge plus. Finally crossed this off my bucket list and you should too!!

This exotic hotel is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of the rainforest—where luxury and nature exist in perfect harmony. I stayed in one of the rooms (as the cabins were fully booked), and I can honestly say I didn’t miss out at all. The experience exceeded every expectation! The room was spotless, with thoughtful interior design and breathtaking art on the walls and in the bathroom—it truly felt like a curated retreat in the jungle. The blend of natural surroundings and high-end comfort is something rare and special. If you’re looking to explore, having a car is helpful, but you can also take a lovely walk to Frenchman’s Cove or San San Beach. The hotel even has its own bay where guests can enjoy kayaking and paddle boarding—a peaceful, private slice of paradise. And the food—wow! The Jamaican breakfast served daily was absolutely delicious. Every morning felt like a treat. I’m already dreaming about coming back to this magical place!

We loved our stay at Geejam and just wish we had more time there! We stayed in a Rumba Room which was really spacious and had amazing artwork on the walls. There was a very relaxed vibe at the hotel, and the team were super friendly. It is a short walk down to the beach which is perfect for swimming in the bay or paddle boarding with sea turtles! We also did a tour of the recording studio with owner Steve which was a real highlight. In general the surrounding area felt a lot less touristy than other parts of the island which was very refreshing. Can't wait to go back!
