Gekko House, Frankfurt, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Booked here due to the connection to the Marriott Bonvoy brand. Big mistake. For starters walking through a restaurant to get to the reception was so weird. Bed was comfortable, nice bathroom, no view. Room a bit small (called a Premium Comfort Room). Asked to moved rooms but they said we had one of the biggest rooms. ||Ate breakfast twice - very expensive for what you get. And the so called Rooftop Bar would have been nice but we went up to use it and was told we were not permitted as it was booked out for a function (at the very least this should have been mentioned prior). Also they had private functions both nights - with extremely loud music.||The hotel location itself has a very unsafe feel to it. We found two lovely local restaurants which we walked to, but did not feel safe at all walking back in the dark.

Overall it’s a very modern industrial designed hotel. However, amenities was lacking a gym or any big reception area to meet anyone. It’s really a travellers hotel just simply for people to rest for the night. It’s nice and clean, with lifts to each floor. But maybe a little bit more expensive than I would have preferred.It’s near the tram station so it’s very convenient to travel to and fro the Frankfurt Main Hbf.

What a great hotel! We stayed here for 1 night after arriving into Frankfurt on an early international flight and waiting to catch our train the next day. The hotel front desk staff were very gracious and accommodating for an early check-in. We had 2 rooms and both of them were very clean and decorated nicely. The front desk gave us each a “welcome” beer which was very much appreciated after a lot of travel. The rooftop bar was closed for a private event so we did not get to see it, but the ground floor restaurant and bar was fun with great options! The hotel is walking distance from the main train station (10-15 minutes).

This is my favorite Bonvoy in Frankfurt because it’s different. The shower is standout, the AC is great & the bed is comfy. It’s a really chill atmosphere w/a wonderful staff that really mesh…teamwork at its best. There is also a good restaurant onsite. Special shoutout to Stephanie (best welcome ever), Anka (nicest) & Jeff (who made time to chat w/a guest). Every single staff member made our Marriott experience great. They really know how to acknowledge & honor Elite members. Look forward to next time. |Vielen dank 🙏

We only visited the restaurant, not the hotel. Sooo, where to start... The food is awesome! However, it is too much. The menu does not indicate the amount of food per portion. We, a group of 4 people, ordered the 4-people plateau and couldn't finish it. I didn't quite appreciate that, because the price is not low, and I would have liked to not leave food. There should be an option, e.g.,4 people to order a 3-people plateau. The espresso martini cocktail was pure bliss in a glass, but I was charged for it twice in the bill. The sneakers hanging from the ceiling are kind of sinister when you know what it means. Toilet is too far away from the dining area and kind of hard to find. Overall, good, warm place, but expensive and not easy on the visitor for the first time. Oh, almost forgot - no real menu. You've got to scan a barcode and view it online. I find that especially irksome.

Stayed 5 nights. I chose this property mainly for its location, about 900 m from the railway station. Several hotels are closer, but the area around the station is quite sketchy.|The entrance to the lobby is through a dark restaurant with a strong smell — not the best first impression. My room was average size (for the location) with modern décor but not suited for business travelers or anyone using a laptop: no desk or chair, and the safe was too small for a laptop. Amenities included a Nespresso machine but no fridge. Each room has a Marshall speaker placed on shelf attached to the shared wall — a very poor design choice, as any bass makes the wall vibrate even at low volume.|The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and power sockets well placed. The bathroom was in good condition with excellent water pressure. Wi-Fi worked reliably.|Guests are encouraged to skip daily housekeeping; although I opted in, my room was missed once. Breakfast is €26 per person, so I didn’t try it.|Overall, a decent stay, but for the price (average over €120/night) I expected more. The hotel also seems uncertain about its concept — its website claims it’s designed for “individualists, business travellers, artists and exciting minds” and for “globals and locals.” You can’t be everything to everyone.

I was in Frankfurt for business, and booked this hotel for 3 nights. I picked this hotel because of its low cost and its proximity to the main train station which I planned to use for day trips.||The hotel is easy to find as it’s on a corner and the signage was very clear. As you step in, you immediately walk into the restaurant, so you need to follow the signage to the right to find receptions and elevator lifts.||Check in was quite smooth. Normal document checks, and she gave me the info I needed for my stay. They upgraded me to a Premium room too. As an elite, I had the option to take free breakfasts but my schedule wouldn’t have allowed me to take advantage of that so I chose points. Walking through, it has a very young urban vibe - similar to a Moxy or Aloft brand property. ||The premier room was a good size. Lots stone and dark/neutral colours. The giant light bulb fixtures as lamps were cool. I also liked the old school looking bluetooth radio. Safe is a bit too small as I couldn’t fit my laptop. WiFi was good. No real work desk - more of a counter and ottoman as a seat. It could work for a business traveller, but not ideal. Bed was OK, not soft or firm. AC worked well. I was facing the street I could easily hear large noisy vehicles. The coolest thing they provide is a tablet that provides all the hotel information||Because of my schedule I didn’t use any hotel amenities like the rooftop or restaurant. But as a BBQ restaurant I could smell the smoke.||Location is OK, depending on what you’re looking for. It’s definitely a quieter part of the city. Skyline Plaza is a short walk for basic shopping. It’s about a 15min walk to the main train station, which isn’t bad. Depending on which streets you use to walk in between the hotel and train station, you can expect to see a few homeless and drug addicted residents.||Overall, I was happy with my stay. I got a good quality hotel at a very reasonable rate. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for tourists looking to be near attractions or business travellers looking for ample work space

Gecko House has a convenient location to the Hauptbahnhof, public transportation and shopping. The bar, restaurant and breakfast are good and the staff is great.

With convenient access to the convention and business side of town, and an easy stroll to the river, Gekko packs a lot into a visit here. Staff are friendly and the rooms are spacious enough for the time you spend in them. The breakfast buffet will give plenty of choices for morning fuel In nicer weather, the rooftop provides excellent skyline views for evening meet-ups. If you don't head out for dinner, enjoy BBQ in the first-floor restaurant. It's an easy 15-min walk from Frankfurt Main, and about as far to Messe, avoiding the crowds if you like. This area is a little less touristy as well, while still close enough to plenty of places you care about. I'll hope to return if I'm in town again.

Decent hotel for a quick trip. It's a bit bare bones but overall it was comfortable. They do have a restaurant on site but I was not impressed with the breakfast offerings.

We only stayed here one night after my flights were redirected to Frankfurt. We checked in pretty late and were not able to enjoy the restaurant on site. The room was fine, nothing over the top, but after a 12 hour flight delay, the bed was perfect. I did like that we were given our blankets. In the morning we were given a late checkout which was nice. Can't really comment on service considering we were there such a short time. If you need to stay a night or two, this will do.

This was a grand opening so I understand it may take some time to get into a routine however I'll list the pros and cons for our stay. The Frankfurt Marriott we normally stay in is closed, and unfortunately we chose this property instead. It is in a bit of a run down area and not much near to enjoy to walk to. My status on Marriott allows me to be upgraded automatically when there is room. Because of COVID and few travelers, we expected we could be upgraded. The hotel didn't even check or offer. When I asked, since there was no one else to be seen, they "upgraded" us immediately. When we booked, we booked and paid for a high floor and city view. When we were upgraded, we went down a floor and had a view of office floors about 20 feet away and that's all. Pretty disappointing. This hotel is only 7 floors. So even the rooftop bar (that is packed shoulder to shoulder with no one wearing masks and no social distancing) can only see the sides of other buildings. There is no skyline view. Pros: brand new; cheaper than other hotels in the area; BBQ restaurant's drinks are great Cons: no parking; loud water sounds and ac clicking sounds all night; slamming doors of the housekeepers are extremely loud; our "upgraded" room was only about 2 feet larger than the queen bed and the bathroom was about 5 feet x 7 feet including the shower We will not stay here again and if we had the choice to get a refund and stay elsewhere that night, we wouldn't have stayed then either.
